Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that changes for me every year. I always try to spend it with Ryan (he’s military so he’s hoping!) & last year was our first with Eloise. But it is also my parent’s wedding anniversary (awww sappy huh?) & there’s galentine’s day activities, friends, family, etc. So I thought it would be fun this year to gather up some of my favorite ideas for gifts that you can treat yourself or someone else with that AREN’T flowers or chocolates! I’m so late on this one guys. I got this over the holiday season & actually even used it then didn’t review it. I know it isn’t readily available in the US anymore but I still wanted to share in case Lancome ever comes out with something similar! I really love the layout the more I use it & thought just in case you had spotted it or were willing to check it out on Ebay I’d give you my thoughts! Keep reading to see my review & swatches! Today I wanted to take a break from holiday posts just for a moment to bring in a post I’ve had waiting in the wings since before I even cut my hair. I took these photos when I realized I was using some of my favorite products in my collection & realized this would probably be helpful to share. My collection is pretty vast so the go-to items are really important to me. & some have been around for ages. I just love favorites don’t you?
Have you ever picked up a lipstick & thought “I could wear this with everything…”? It is rare for me. I really do switch out lip colors seasonally & quite often so it is a pretty big deal. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile now then you likely know I grew up raiding my mother’s Lancome stash. It was a pretty big deal. Although I know for a fact I’ve been using this lipstick for 5 years at a minimum…it is likely more like 10. I think it was 3-5 years ago that my mom & I randomly started a conversation talking about our favorite purse lipstick…& it was the same one. The one I’m wearing above is Lancome Color Design Lipstick in Love It! which is probably the best thing ever. I mean- that name? Was it not meant to be a favorite? This is the perfect, creamy pink & you’ll find it in my purse at all times. [Read more…]
Fragrance is such a personal thing. I review new options often because they are something I truly enjoy but I always have to explain about skin chemistry & scents smelling different on everyone. Samplers like the Sephora Favorites Bottled Dreams Fragrance Sampler for Holiday 2014 are such a perfect gift- lots of options & actually usable sizes. With some big brands like Balenciaga, Juicy Couture & the oh-so-popular Elizabeth & James Nirvana options this set is also on trend. Check out the 8 fragrances in this sampler & which FULL-SIZED options were my favorite…& my husband’s! [Read more…]

Let me tell you a tale- a story of going out after work unexpectedly with a gigantic purse packed to the hilt. First, it took me several minutes of digging to even find my wallet. Next- I dropped a half full water bottle in the middle of a restaurant. To top off the evening I actually had my strap break which trying to mingle my way back to my car in a full bar. I’m so glad this wasn’t some kind of date. This was the night I discovered the Emergency Clutch…
What is it you ask? Basically it is a clutch I can grab out of my car/work & take out with me at night. I’m not talking about a first aid kit or camping set… Just in case I’m missing any necessary items to get a bit more glammed up that I don’t usually keep in my car I keep them in the clutch too. It helps me transition to night or update my look quickly on the go. Let’s break down what I keep inside!
First let me show you my clutch- see how basic it is? I tried to pick something really basic. My basic might not be your basic- you might want to pick something with silver metal, no metal at all, or in a pattern. I also chose something with a sturdy wrist strap which is handy to grab & go. This one happened to be on sale at Old Navy a long time ago & I still dig the classic lines. Here are a few similar idea styles here, here, & here.
Orange is the New Black is one of my favorite shows currently…so we quickly flew through the 2nd season. I’ll make sure not to reveal any major spoilers but this season was intense (which was expected) but also full of awesome twists. One of my favorite characters on the series (which is on Netflix for those who haven’t indulged yet!) is Nicky aka Nichols who is just a seriously awesome character. She’s rough one minute & understanding the next but always speaks her mind. In collaboration a few other vloggers & bloggers (linked below!) we sought to cover some of our favorite characters- keep reading to check out my look! [Read more…]
Laura from My Newest Addiction have been blogging friends a really long time so it only makes sense we decided to do our first video collab together! We wanted to both use the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette because she is so stunning & versatile. When we came up with the Alter Ego Palette idea we thought it would make a great tag too!
How does it work? Pick one of your favorite palettes & zero in on shades you use the least then create a look!
