Growing up, your lipgloss was a symbol of growing up. Getting to wear lip products? You’re basically moving out on your own & on your way to stardom. If you’ve ever had a cheap lipgloss that felt…awful…then you might appreciate my extensive research resulting in a lot of disappointing clear lip glosses. Until the Pixi by Petra Collagen Lip Gloss. Keep reading to see why you should add this to your shopping cart!
Enriched with Botanical Collagen and Peptides, this nourishing lip balm hydrates and softens while helping to create smoother, fuller looking lips.
Let me tell you what boxes this gloss checks because not everyone is looking for the same things. This gloss isn’t one I use as a topper. I prefer something thinner in consistency when topping another product, that’s personal preference. What I was looking for was something that would keep my lips healthy or I could use OVER a lip balm- not colored products. I’ve been using a lot of different balm to combat dry lips but anything advertised as “with shine” just wasn’t as…good. So I wanted a gloss that was healing or at least smoothing on its own plus something I could apply over thin balms. Make sense? I hope so!
No scent, no color, no flavor. That’s my opener because that’s not easy to find. A lot of the glosses I’ve tried have been super sweet or flavored heavily. I have migraines pretty regularly so something I want to use frequently by my nose- unscented is best. I’ve tried more expensive options (a favorite is mentioned below!) & significantly cheaper ones as well. What I’ve found is that frequently they’re just too thin or way too thick- as was the case for me with the MAC Clear Lipglass. Looks great in photos & mixed with pigments, but in real life it is THICK feeling & definitely too tacky if you are drinking, flipping hair, or living life. On the other side of the price spectrum, the e.l.f. Cosmetics Lip Lacquer seemed promising but I quickly realized it had an odd taste, I preferred a squeezy applicator, & along with wearing off very quickly it wasn’t a love match. Neither gloss left my lips feeling better- another important box to tick when I was on the hunt.
This gloss does have some reviews saying people found an irritant. I haven’t had any issues like that & I’ve used it quite consistently. But I wanted to let you know just in case you spot something you might be sensitive to! I’ve been wearing Lancome Juicy Tubes since middle school so they hold a special place in my heart but at $20 a pop- I didn’t want one in just clear despite the texture feeling nice. Plus…I don’t think they really improve my lips like this option from Pixi does. & they are also scented although I don’t find it too aggressive. However, if you have any issues with the Pixi gloss– they are definitely a favorite for the texture although I tend to prefer their sparkling finishes. Both come in at the same product amount- 0.5 oz/ 15 mL.
You can purchase Pixi Beauty products from the Pixi website here, Target, Ulta, & Amazon here.
What do you look for in a lip gloss- do you have a favorite? Is clear gloss even on your radar? What lip scents do you tend to prefer or is unscented your go-to?
