I realized recently- I have a new purse fragrance. In the beginning of summer, I posted to instagram (follow my beauty page here & my lifestyle account here!) talking about my love of Arise from A Girl’s Gotta Spa! & why I’ve been so drawn to it. But becoming a purse perfume? That’s a big deal. That means I reach for it above all others- including other base favorites & oils I tend to reach for. I’m a mom to a toddler & the fragrance in my bag is my most worn- long ago are the days of luxuriating in front of my superabundant collection of luxe bottles. Keep reading to see why I don’t want to be without it!
Arise starts with freshly bloomed jasmine Sambac, then transitions gracefully through brightly scented grapefruit and orange. Vanilla bean softens this fragrance while grapeseed oil delivers it to the woman of strength who wears it.
Whenever I write about fragrance, I like to open with a slight disclaimer. Fragrance is probably one of the most personal things I can write about, along with skincare. Notes are different across different people thanks to body chemisty. For instance, jasmine is the note my skin tends to pull to the forefront no mater what other notes are in a perfume. Luckily, I love it. But Ambers & musks? They don’t smell so great on me. So basically, you might find yourself feeling perfumes have a different vibe. It is the same reason in-store a fragrance can smell fabulous but at home, in real use, it smells like dog. Or maybe because your house smells like dog. I’m not here to judge you.
With that said- I love this fragrance. Arise is exactly what I wanted when I went in search of a pure jasmine scent that wasn’t so…much. I started looking for something less intense when I realized my kid wasn’t going to just stop licking me & I didn’t want to just stop wearing perfume forever. Arise reads mainly jasmine sambac to my nose but with notes of grapefruit, orange, & vanilla bean it lightens it up enough to not be such a floral punch. I’m not one of those people who can wear just vanilla, it makes me nauseous with extended wear honestly so I tend to avoid it as a top note & base note especially. Fragrance is something I can still indulge in daily – makeup or no. Yes, even in quarantine.
The packaging is glass with a rollerball that has an opening sitting between a dry rollerball that hurts my wrist & one that dispenses more perfume than a mall girl. That means it is perfect, in case you’re unfamiliar. Currently you can pair with the matching body lotion (which I don’t own) & it comes in a 8 ml / 0.27 fl oz size. The label is high-quality as well- I know this because I frequently have snacks in my purse including loose granola & the bottle itself (despite now being depleted) looks new.
Arise, and know your own strength. Your eyes wide open. Fearless in your stride. Your capabilities are limitless.
