The Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eye Shadow Palette almost didn’t end up in my hands. Let me clarify right off the jump here- this was a gift from my lovely, thoughtful, actually listened to me oooooooing & ahhhhhing husband. I didn’t break my low-buy / no-buy guys! (What’s a Beauty Low-Buy or No-Buy, Makeup FOMO, & Style Budgeting from an Anxious Consumer) The Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eyeshadow Palette immediately drew me in. Stila palettes are some of my favorites in the past…but I haven’t seen much lately that I’m interested in. Except the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows obviously because I will NOT shush about them! I saw it…swatched it…& apparently I was dramatic enough that he thought I deserved a present…so I am getting you the review before it is gone for good!
From Stila– Velvety-soft powder eye shadow formula in six pro-artist curated shades for the Holidays!
So what is it that got me in a tizzy? These shades can be used wet or dry, the mattes actually suit my skintone, but most of all- the shimmer/sparkle is stunning. & your girl loves anything with glitz. Enlighten (iridescent blue sparkle) is obviously stunning but it was really Transcend that got me needing a fainting couch. A neutral with an over-the-top sparkle is always a hit with me because I can wear it anywhere, anytime, & any season!
Why didn’t I have interest in this palette online? Because the photos didn’t look interesting. It was another palette with a pop of blue. & it was just alright. But in person- WOW. Just wow. Those poppin’ shades have my name all over them. & actually…this is one of the prettiest blues I’ve worn in a long time.
The exterior packaging is blah & online it didn’t look fun or sparkly. False advertising! I wish they had sent this my way so I could’ve shouted from the rooftops before the holiday collections have completely clearanced out & become hard to find. The box above looks more interesting than the palette itself…& it didn’t look holiday either? Maybe this was meant to be for something other than holiday?
Stila Enlighten (Iridescent crystal with blue sparkle)
Stila Enchant (Matte rose quartz)
Stila Awaken (Antique gold shimmer)
Stila Discover (Matte brown beige)
Stila Transcend (Iridescent pinky-peach with blue sparkle)
Stila Reveal (Vibrant sapphire shimmer)
Swatches left to right : Enlighten, Enchant, Awaken, Discover, Transcend, Reveal without any base or primer.
The matte formula is soft, buttery, & so blendable. In swatches they might look blah or lacking pigment, but not on the eye. With a brush or fingertip they are actually lovely. But c’mon, you know I’m here for the sparkle. & this palette brings it. Wet with a mixing medium or dry with a brush/fingertip, although a bit messy due to the sparkle, these shades are killer. They apply a bit messy because they are that bold…worth it. & put down a primer or eyeshadow base- that’s the ticket!
At the time of posting, the Stila Blue Realm Velvet Eye Shadow Palette is available to purchase from Stila, Amazon, Bloomingdales, Dillard’s, & Beautylish. If it appeals to you- PLEASE snap it up before it is gone for good!
If anyone from Stila is out there reading- please don’t let this formula go away. I’d love to see a comeback with this type of eyeshadow selection at the forefront! Each finish was a win for me which isn’t always the case!
What was the last palette you really loved? Do you pass over Stila or are they a favorite brand? What do you think of this palette?
