After I posted about some of my absolute favorite hot tools yesterday here, I got quite a few compliments on my hair! What a lot of commenters didn’t know is that the majority of it was extensions. I chopped a good chunk of my hair off to donate awhile back & turn to extensions to play with long hair again. These are the Irresistible Me Silky Touch Clip-In Hair Extensions in Silky Rosewood…& I’m pretty much addicted! Keep reading to check them out! [Read more…]
Using the Most Hi-Tech Blow Dryer + Getting Gorgeous Curls Review
I’m super into the whole messy curl trend but it doesn’t come without hardships. My hair is very thick & fine so I have to walk the balance between poodle & flat hair-topia. I’ve found that the best way to set myself up for curls that not only hold but look how I like in the front is by blow drying either the day of or day before for some extra oomph. Today I’m going to be talking about how I did it & the two tools I used- the CHI Dura 1 1/4 inch Titanium Infused Ceramic Curling Iron & the CHI Touch 2 Touch Screen Hair Dryer. Macadamia Weightless Moisture + My New Easy Hair Accessory
What kind of hair texture do you have? This has always been a difficult question for me to answer. I have fine hair but it is also quite thick so many companies don’t cater to me personally. When I had the opportunity to try out some products from Macadamia with other member of The Beauty Council I was thrilled. I’ve used Macadamia Professional products for years & quite enjoy them. Check out my take on the Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner below!
VOLOOM Means the End of Flat Hair!
Hair is such a touchy subject for me- rarely are products targeted towards me. Most people fall into a normal category of haircare but yours truly has fine & thick hair. Rarely is there a product aimed at me because I am all alone in my hair universe sobbing over flat hair that is moisturized or crazy hair that holds a style. Choices are hard.
PR Sample. Affiliate links.Because I chopped off my once very long locks I’m still re-learning my hair basics. How do I deal with hair tickling my neck again? How do I handle hair short enough to get into lipgloss? & finally how do I make my short hair less flat? When my hair was long I just went with it because hey- that’s a lot of hair. I figured if it got weighed down it wasn’t a big deal. Now that it is so much shorter & thicker I’m finding excuses more difficult to come by. The VOLOOM high-end iron adds volume directly into the roots so it literally bumps up your hair. Keep reading to check it out! [Read more…]
Glossybox USA for Jun 2014 Stars & Stripes Edition + 4th July Nail Art!
I love a nice holiday-themed box & red, white, & blue really makes me smile! My husband is in the military & this is actually the ONE holiday we’ve been able to spend together without deployments or job related absence! We really try to be super grateful for that! Anyway- back to Glossybox! I have a fun Stars & Stripes Edition to share with you today so keep reading to see what was inside!
Here’s the card included in my box- super cute! It was a nice change from the usual white backgrounds as well! I wouldn’t mind seeing more personality like this month to month.
In my box for June 2014-
Strange Beautiful Colorbloc Nail Polish Duo- This duo is especially designed for Glossybox- & the polishes were great! I really love that it is travel-friendly because it is airline approved size-wise as well. Plus- it is really cute!
Rusk Texture Dry Finishing Spray- I’m really upset this was in my box….because now I need to go out & buy the full size. This is dry shampoo + light hold texturizing spray minus any residue. I need this in my life- for real. Totally picking it up my next shopping trip!
Ayres Patagonia Body Butter- This is a nice sized sample from a brand I’ve never tried! The scent is a bit floral & has some nice moisturizing ingredients.
Camille Beckman Platinume Gold Imperial Repair Hand Therapy- I am really picky about hand creams & have some solid favorites- but this one was wonderful. I love the grapefruit & lemongrass scent especially- so nice. It contains nice oils & such but really did feel nice on my hands as well.
Sumita Beauty Champagne Eye Shadow Pencil- I am such a huge fan of long wear eyeshadow pencils & you’ll find quite a few reviews featuring them on this blog! This shade from Sumita is an excellent color for my stash & something I’d naturally gravitate towards. Very pretty base color.
– A mystery amount gift card to C. Wonder was also included but I am not familiar with the store (yet!) & I haven’t checked my gift card. Always happy to check out a new store though!
& my favorite part of this whole box…the nail art I created for the 4th of July! Glossybox sent me some goodies to create a fun look & here’s what I came up with! Looks like a good time right?
What are you rocking for this 4th of July on your nails or as your makeup look? Any products here that interest you?

Orange is the New Black Nicky Inspired Makeup Tutorial
Orange is the New Black is one of my favorite shows currently…so we quickly flew through the 2nd season. I’ll make sure not to reveal any major spoilers but this season was intense (which was expected) but also full of awesome twists. One of my favorite characters on the series (which is on Netflix for those who haven’t indulged yet!) is Nicky aka Nichols who is just a seriously awesome character. She’s rough one minute & understanding the next but always speaks her mind. In collaboration a few other vloggers & bloggers (linked below!) we sought to cover some of our favorite characters- keep reading to check out my look! [Read more…]
