Last week was definitely a struggle- just one of those weeks where nothing seemed to go right. I was still swollen from dental surgery, tired, & just generally blah. That’s when you need an effortless palette like the Tarte Poppy Picnic Amazonian Clay Eye & Cheek Palette to do all the heavy lifting. No muss or fuss & you’re left with an uncomplicated eyeshadow look? Sign me up! I’ve also been trying out the Tarte Precision Longwear Eyeliner in Brown which fits in perfectly- check out my thoughts, swatches, & finished look below!
First I want to point out how stunning the packaging is on this palette for spring/summer! I absolutely love the metallic gold, violet, & hot coral color scheme! You’d honestly never guess with the pop of color & abstract flowers that housed inside is 6 perfectly neutral, matte eyeshadows & a stunning blush with some built in glow to finish the look.
On the left from top to bottom we have Summer Breeze, Sweet Tea, & Ice Cream Cone. In the middle is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Glisten. The last three shades on the right from top to bottom are Barefoot in the Grass, Peach Poppy, & Picnic Basket. I wanted this shot so you could really see how fine the golden sheen on Glisten is- like a built-in highlighter!
On the far left I have one long swatch & small flicked swatches of the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Eyeliner in Brown. Mine is in the limited edition packaging but you can find this product in Tarte’s permanent line although I believe this very deep brown is a limited edition shade!
The top trio eyeshadow trio from left to right are Summer Breeze (pale yellow-toned beige matte), Sweet Tea (medium, warm brown matte), & Ice Cream Cone (deep matte cool brown).
In the middle is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Glisten. This is a very golden coral-toned pink. It is a bit stiff but I like how easy it is to layer on my fair skin. I really buff it in & it catches the light beautifully. I can see darker skintones having a lot more gold shimmer because they’ll need to build it up so just keep that in mind!
The last three shades on the bottom are Barefoot in the Grass (very pale orange-toned nude matte), Peach Poppy (softened peach matte), & Picnic Basket (deep yellow-toned brown matte). All swatches are on bare skin without primer.
This palette overall leans more warm which I wasn’t expecting from the first images I saw online. I love the packaging & the shades but I will say I wish the blush included was a matte shade as well. I feel like it would be more complementary & I wouldn’t worry about getting little shimmer particles in my mattes. However, I do actually like Glisten on my skin so it isn’t a dealbreaker. All of these matte eyeshadows blend beautifully & perform exceptionally over primer especially. I think Peach Poppy is my favorite- this mid-toned peach is an awesome blender shade! I like both deeper shades but I wish one was just a tad deeper or a tad lighter for even more variation. I really do like the eye look I was able to create- it was simple & all blended together well I think!
