Ever see reviews of a palette & think “What is the hype there?” Well that’s how I felt about the Lorac Unzipped Palette. I’d seen it in stores & thought it was really pretty but not a must have. Then I started seeing reviews, swatches, & tutorials using Unzipped that got me excited. Maybe it isn’t just another neutral palette? Maybe the shades won’t look as close once on the eye? Maybe this palette could be for me? Well I finally bought it last month- keep reading to see what I think now!
Like I said- this palette just didn’t appeal to me as much at first. I absolutely love Lorac eyeshadows but the colors just didn’t seem different enough for
me to reach for the palette all that much. Plus, I have the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (which I reviewed here) which seems similar in theory. The palette at its core is a warm-toned neutral palette consisting of 10 large shades. The palette also comes with a deluxe mini of the Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer.
The packaging is really simple- & so is the concept. I think that’s why I passed on it before as well. I tend to go more for smaller eyeshadows but more of them…because I so rarely hit pan on anything. I have a lot of stuff so I tend to go for variety over size but I know not everyone isn’t the same. Inside is a nice sized mirror & the palette itself is quite slim.
Top row: Undercover, Unbelievable, Unattainable, Unconditional, & Unbridled.
Bottom row: Undiscovered, Unreal, Uncensored, Unspoken, & Untamed.
Undercover– Pink-toned beige with a satin finish.
Unbelievable– Medium brown-toned copper with a metallic finish.
Unattainable– Golden bronze with a shimmering metallic finish.
Unconditional– Dusty pink matte.
Unbridled– Warm-toned burgandy based brown with a slightly satin matte finish.
Undiscovered– Tangerine-toned gold with a frosty metallic finish.
Unreal– Peachy beige with a frosty metallic finish.
Uncensored– Medium-deep slightly golden bronze with a pearly, shimmering finish.
Unspoken– Deepened warm brown with a matte finish.
Untamed– Red based deep browned burgundy with a shimmering satin finish.
Overall the texture on these shades is quite nice- pigmented, blendable, & easy to layer. The tones are very pink/rose gold which definitely puts it on trend. I tend to stray from pinks because they can make my eyes look red but when they are warm & in this configuration it seems to make my blue eyes pop more than expected. The shades don’t look as similar as I thought they might on my eyes thankfully. They layer nicely but are their own distinct shades.
Here’s one of my favorite (perhaps THE favorite) to wear this palette on my eyes. I have Unbelievable on my lid & buffed upwards with Unbridled in my crease. I blend shades out with Unconditional & then pop Undercover to highlight. I do all of this over the primer which makes it both last longer & I personally think blend a bit better.
You can purchase the Lorac Unzipped Palette from ULTA, Nordstrom, Zappos, & even Kohls for $40 which I think is pretty reasonable when compared to other palettes in the same price range for the amount of products & quality.
Do you own the Lorac Unzipped Palette? Have you ever bought into the hype of a palette? Any shades/tones in here appeal to you?
