Hair is such a touchy subject for me- rarely are products targeted towards me. Most people fall into a normal category of haircare but yours truly has fine & thick hair. Rarely is there a product aimed at me because I am all alone in my hair universe sobbing over flat hair that is moisturized or crazy hair that holds a style. Choices are hard.

How do I handle hair short enough to get into lipgloss? & finally how do I make my short hair less flat? When my hair was long I just went with it because hey- that’s a lot of hair. I figured if it got weighed down it wasn’t a big deal. Now that it is so much shorter & thicker I’m finding excuses more difficult to come by. The VOLOOM high-end iron adds volume directly into the roots so it literally bumps up your hair. Keep reading to check it out!
The before & afters on the box were intense. I don’t normally do big hair when it is straight because my fine strands tend to get a bit mangled & unmanageable. I did like the specific instructions though- very helpful although it is quite basic.
The VOLOOM comes with extras & lots of features I find appealing. The iron itself comes with a fast heat up with a precision digital temperature control. The plates are ceramic for smoothness & ionic to help protect hair. The cord is an 8 foot, 360 degree swivel which is a must-have. You can lock the plates together which makes it easier to store & this will auto shut-off after 30 minutes of non-use.
To start out you want to get yourself setup which is easy- they include everything you will likely need. The case acts as a heat protectant for your surface. Use the comb to go through your hair. You want to section off the top layer because you don’t want to style it with the heat so it stays smooth. Use VOLOOM on your under-layers but literally clamp & release. DON’T hold it on your hair like a flat iron or other tool- it will crimp it! The more layers you do the more volume you’ll have in the end. At the end unclip & smooth hair into place. You can see I didn’t do all of my layers because I actually wanted to show how I would wear it day to day!
Sure it may look like a waffle-iron but the VOLOOM definitely packs a punch. This is way faster than a curling iron or flat iron for me. & on 2nd day hair this is now my top pick because I barely have to do anything. I love that I could use this & still throw my hair into an updo as well. Curling irons take my thick hair awhile (even though it is shorter) so VOLOOM will save me time. The one thing I’d change is a smaller plate area- but I don’t understand the science behind it so that might be why it works in the first place! You can purchase your own VOLOOM here from their site directly.
