Wet n Wild Spring 2014 Walking the Red Carpet & Flirting at the After Party Palettes Swatches & Review

April 1, 2014 By StephanieLouise 151Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F04%2Fwet-n-wild-spring-2014-walking-red.htmlWet+n+Wild+Spring+2014+Walking+the+Red+Carpet+%26+Flirting+at+the+After+Party+Palettes+Swatches+%26+Review2014-04-01+16%3A31%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F04%2Fwet-n-wild-spring-2014-walking-the-red-carpet-flirting-at-the-after-party-palettes-swatches-review.html

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview01_zps9aae8476.jpg
I bought it.

Wet n Wild comes out with these 8 pan palettes multiple times a year & I always try to hunt them down. They usually retail for $4.99 & contain 8 shades each which are labeled suggestively with how to use them. This time they released 2 palettes- one more neutral/bronze & the other more purple based. Keep reading to see swatches & review!

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview03_zps344c1a17.jpg

Like I said above, the back of these palettes have some instructions as well as the front. I personally don’t think the back portion is super helpful but whatever right?

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview02_zpsb8074bb8.jpg
 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview04_zps01623234.jpg

The front of these palettes are also along the same lines of what we usually see but with come cute white looking flashes. It goes with the whole party/red carpet theme. Inside you see multiple textures/finishes including one I haven’t really seen from Wet n Wild before.

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview06_zpscd32032b.jpg

First let’s look at Flirting at the After Party. I’ll be looking at the left & right side shades individually below but I think the palette as a whole deserves a look too. This isn’t a total shimmerbomb like many WnW palettes have been in the past but it also isn’t a homerun. Many of the shades are chalky & just not fantastic while others are quite nice. All of my swatches are over ELF eyeshadow primer- without primer I honestly don’t think I would wear these shades. Many of them are chalky & puff around so it needs a base to cling to. Without primer many of these shades literally rub away into nothing- even worse when trying to layer on the eye.

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartySwatchesReview02_zps44b6e65e.jpg
 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartySwatchesReview01_zps1ecb6fa2.jpg

Top row- L Browbone (extremely pale lavender frost), L Eyelid (very cool gray toned purple with silver fine glitter), L Crease (medium matte lavender), & L Definer (deep very cool toned grape with pink shimmer).

Bottom row- R Browbone (light pink with violet shimmer), R Eyelid (warm orchid matte), R Crease (cooler toned orchid matte with blue shimmer), & R Definer (deep berry with slight warmth with cool toned shimmer).

The most original & exciting shades in this palette for me personally are the right browbone because it can be used as a shimmer overlay,  left definer because it comes off kind of metallic & silvery depending on what you use it with, & the right eyelid shade since it is the pure embodiment of the color of the year from Pantone which is Orchid!

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview05_zpscfc579d5.jpg

This second palette is called Walking the Red Carpet & has some really lovely shades in it. Each shade is swatched below over primer because again many of them can poof into nothing with some blending. I feel like this set is VERY divided into right & left- the right side is way more demure in my opinion! Check out how flashy the right side is!

 photo WetnWildSpring2014WalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview02_zps36d3a869.jpg
 photo WetnWildSpring2014WalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview01_zps7bd62fd9.jpg

Top row- L Browbone (very creamy colored nude/pink matte), L Eyelid (neutral wheat beige satin), L Crease (warm slightly red leaning taupe-y brown), & L Definer (deep brown matte with chocolate shimmer).

Bottom row- R Browbone (sheer white frost), R Eyelid (metallic gold shimmer with gold flakes), R Crease (golden shimmer, somewhat bronze toned), & R Definer (warm medium chocolate with gold shimmer/fine glitter).

 photo WetnWildSpring2014FlirtingattheAfterPartyampWalkingtheRedCarpetSwatchesReview08_zpsff9894b5.jpg

I have to say- these 3 shades were the ones that excited me most out of either palette at first glance! Although the gold Eyelid shade is flaky it is beautiful- can you see how different the texture is above?

From the Wet n Wild Walking the Red Carpet palette I think my favorite shades are the left browbone shade because on me it looks pretty much like a matte cream which is perfect for blending, the left crease shade because it surprised me by being a nice warm taupe, the right crease because it has a really honey-like coloring, & the beautiful right definer shade because it is just insanely beautiful. I think this palette has much better pigmentation than the Flirting at the After Party 8-Pan Palette but still not the amazing pigmentation from some of my past Wet n Wild trios & 6-pans.

Overall I’m happy I purchased each of these palettes, especially for $4.99 each. I love that they didn’t include a bunch of shades I’ve seen from them before- no basic white or basic black. Both palettes are quite nice over primer but I don’t recommend trying without it or else (at least for me) they blend into practically nothing. I think applying these with a dense brush or even a fingertip over eyeshadow primer is the way to go!

Have you picked up either of these palettes? Interested? These are limited edition so if you want them you need to snap them up while you can! Any eye looks you want to see?

Quick Peek at our Home with new Kleenex Styles!

March 14, 2014 By StephanieLouise 160Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F03%2Fquick-peek-at-our-home-with-new-kleenex.htmlQuick+Peek+at+our+Home+with+new+Kleenex+Styles%212014-03-14+21%3A20%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F03%2Fquick-peek-at-our-home-with-new-kleenex-styles.html

Quick Peek at our Home with new Kleenex Styles, DIY, Decor, Home, House, Style, Fashion, Rainbow, Storage, pattern, staple,

Sponsored by Kleenex.

One of the most depressing things about having a spouse in the military is never really feeling like your house is “yours”. I actually quite like our house but soon enough we will be off to a new base with a whole new floorplan & location. One important thing I’ve learned over the years is to buy things that make your space enjoyable but moveable if need be. Kleenex has a bunch of new styles- you to make this easy- keep reading to see them in action around our house!

 photo QuickPeekatourHomewithnewKleenexStyles01_zps218d272c.jpg

One of my favorite hobbies is cooking & we’ve recently converted some bookshelves into nooks for all my odds & ends. Here are a few of my antique & modern plates displayed- they’re really pretty & I feel special every time I use one! Speaking of well-loved antiques- check out my gorgeous but ancient Betty Crocker Cookbook! This has been passed down multiple generations in my family & I absolutely adore it. Inside you’ll find how to greet your husband when he comes home (no really!), how to properly set a table, & how to be a good hostess. Okay…so maybe I’ll just look at the recipes & pictures? Notice my pretty but neutral Kleenex box kept in the front, I’m constantly worried about germs or dust so they live here happily.

 photo QuickPeekatourHomewithnewKleenexStyles2_zpsb763bf00.jpg

Our downstairs bathroom is a half bath & extremely dark. The new Kleenex Cool Touch style is super cool- blue & metallic. I set up the bathroom with a lot of my childhood shells & such. Growing up in Hunting Beach, California I had my room done in ocean-type stuff pretty much up until adulthood. I love having my items in this small space because I think it helps brighten up the bathroom & it tends to be a conversation starter when we have company. This blue box totally fits the ocean/beach theme- & the Kleenex inside are cooling. When I’m sick I tend to stay downstairs more & these are super refreshing!

Quick Peek at our Home with new Kleenex Styles, DIY, Decor, Home, House, Style, Fashion, Rainbow, Storage, pattern, staple,

Although we have Kleenex spread throughout the house I wanted to show you one of my favorite areas in my living room- I call it the eclectic corner. The picture was painted by my grandmother Gloria. She’s a fantastic artist & I have multiple projects throughout my house from her. I used to summer with my grandparents in Colorado so this painting both reminds me of family & looks calming. The shelf holds random odds & ends…in rainbow bins! I’m big on patterns, I love to mix & match them! Our house can look quite dark so this helps to brighten it up! I love this pattern from Kleenex– simple pattern but it easily goes with the others for a playful vibe. Exactly what I like in our living space!

Quick Peek at our Home with new Kleenex Styles, DIY, Decor, Home, House, Style, Fashion, Rainbow, Storage, pattern, staple,

I’m really happy with the new designs- very modern which is what I tend to go for! They have TONS of options though- from rainbow to floral to knit to watercolors! You can check out the new Kleenex styles here– because everyone needs some!

February 2014 Beauty Lust List + Update featuring Makeup Geek, NYX, & Blogger Enablers!

February 28, 2014 By StephanieLouise 163Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F02%2Ffebruary-2014-beauty-lust-list-update.htmlFebruary+2014+Beauty+Lust+List+%2B+Update+featuring+Makeup+Geek%2C+NYX%2C+%26+Blogger+Enablers%212014-02-28+15%3A26%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F02%2Ffebruary-2014-beauty-lust-list-update-featuring-makeup-geek-nyx-blogger-enablers.html

First off, I apologize for not putting up a January Beauty Lust List! I was in California for IMATS LA & I barely had time to breathe period! So for this month’s list I’ve come up with a handful (okay, a larger handful…) of items I’m lusting after. I mean, there is just always something right? Keep reading to see what I picked up from my last Beauty Lust List & what I’m wanting this month…plus my blogger/vlogger enablers…you know you love those!

From my December 2013 Beauty Lust List which you can see here I actually ended up with both of the palettes! I reviewed the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Palette here quite recently & then my hubby picked up the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette for me for Valentine’s Day. Hopefully I’ll have that reviewed but so far I really like it & it smells divine!

 photo ItCosmeticsFeelTheMomentAnti-AgingUltraHydratingSensoryAwakeningPrimerSerumULTA_zps3a79b9bc.jpg

It Cosmetics Feel The Moment Anti-Aging Ultra Hydrating Sensory Awakening Primer Serum– Yes, just yes. I need this! A primer/serum duo? Already excited….but then add in extra hydration & I’m sold! With my dry skin some primers meant for me are honestly…thick. Or leave makeup patchy. Or break me out because it is too heavy. On top of all that, It Cosmetics pretty much only puts out products that are good for you & your skin. Even their eyeliners. I trust them more than I trust half the doctors I’ve seen.

 photo HourglassAmbientLightingBlushinEtherealSephora_zpsce85a7bc.jpg

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Etherea– Seriously…it is like Hourglass knows they have me by the pursestraps. Because…they pretty much do. I finally broke down & bought the fabulous Hourglass limited edition palette (after serious consideration & hunting) & have really had a hard time wanting to use anything else for setting. This is some voodoo magic in a powder! I’m already restraining myself & they come out with this gorgeous new line of blushes. Uhg. I feel like Etherea needs to be mine, doesn’t it look like the perfect cool pink complementary tone for most makeup looks?

 photo NYXCosmeticsButterLipstickinRazzleULTA_zps4962f82d.jpg

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Razzle– In the photo, this looks like a hot pink leaning orchid-ish type shade? Maybe? Either way I need to finally go out & grab these. I’m absolutely addicted to the glosses (I also need the new shades from that line too!) so it stands to reason I’ll love these too. They’ve gotten great feedback- comfortable lip products are so IN right now!

 photo StilaSmudgeStickSiennaSephora_zpsfd0ff4d4.jpg photo StilaSmudgeStickSepiaSephora_zps9288addf.jpg photo StilaSmudgeStickMintJulepSephora_zpsad641da2.jpg

Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliners in Sienna, Mint Julep, & Sepia– The basics of the Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliners are simple- long wearing, beautiful, & easy to apply. I’ve been sold since I tried my first one…which has consequently cost me quite a lot of dough. But they’re absolutely worth it. Recently they came out with a bunch of new shades but my top 3 shades on the list are Sienna (burnt orange bronze), Mint Julep (pale looking mint), & Sepia (metallic golden dark beige). Each shade speaks to me & I think I’ll use all three quite a lot!

 photo ButterLondonLucyintheSkyNailPolishSephora_zps6932bcd5.jpg

Butter London Nail Polish Lucy in the Sky– Normally I’d go on & on trying to describe a glitzy glitter polish but instead I’ll leave you with the description from Sephora: “A sheer, iridescent, gold and silver glitter suspended in a rosy pink base”. Yes. I need it.

 photo ItCosmeticsLipBlushHydratingGlossStaininJeNeSaisQuoi_zpsd09609de.jpg

It Cosmetics Lip Blush Hydrating Gloss Stain in Je Ne Sais Quoi– Another It Cosmetics product…stop rolling your eyes! I need all the things! Again, this gloss contains great for you ingredients but it is also a stain. Pretty exciting stuff for me since my lips have been needing some tlc. A stain that’s nourishing? & repairing? & actually looks pretty? Yes please! So much yes!

 photo MakeupGeekGelEyelinerinRave_zpsfb36aee4.jpg

Makeup Geek Gel Eyeliner in Rave– I picked up some Makeup Geek items awhile back & really have been enjoying them…but I didn’t pick up any eyeliners. I sure wish I had seen Marlena’s swatch of Rave before my order! It looks kind of gray in the photo above & kind of bronze-y on her arm…so maybe it is a bit taupe? Either way…I want it! These are supposed to be smudge-proof & water-resistant as well…even more interested!

 photo MakeupGeekPigmentinUtopia_zps1d0f57f6.jpg

Makeup Geek Pigment in Utopia-I’ve been waiting a LONG time for this pigment & it always seems to be out of stock! Utopia has been all over the blogg/vlog universe…& I need it. It should be back in March- I’m tempted to snap it up then but then another part of me says I should wait for a sale. I still haven’t decided yet & I doubt I’m the only one yearning after it!

BLOGGER/VLOGGER ENABLERS
The blogs I read & videos I watch that constantly leave me wanting to splurge on beauty.
The FabZilla‘s Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Diffused Heat): Review, Swatch, FOTD-Kath is ridiculous. I mean, how could I not want the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat after reading her review? Sure, I already wanted one….but then she had to add to the disease! Look how peachy, glosy, & gorgeous it looks on her lovely face!
Phyrra & her opinion of the Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo in her Holy Grail Beauty Products post really got me going to. Have I ever tried this? I have LOTS of Too Faced products…but have I even touched this one for myself? I honestly don’t think I have! Phyrra convinced me that next time I’m in the store I’ll be trying this highlighting duo out…& with Phyrra’s glowing (literally, Ha!) recommendation I’ll likely be purchasing it myself!
Sheila is the blogger behind Painted Ladies & every since she fell for Makeup Geek Eyeshadows I can’t help but want to add to my collection too. Every. Single. Time. I mean, when she creates these gorgeous looks, does she just know that she’s forcing me against my will to purchase more? I want my eyes to be that pretty! Just check out this post where she makes me think I now NEED Makeup Geek Appletini & Cosmopolitan! Clearly she’s enabling me. I have no control. (Ha. Control about makeup, good one!)
Well that’s my Beauty Lust List for February! What’s on your list currently? Anything I need to add?

I bought it. PR Sample. Affiliate links.

Hey guys! Today I have kind of a ridiculously exciting post for me personally- ever had nail art turn out way better than you expected? Yessss there isn’t a thing like it! This Valentine’s Day inspired mani took a much cooler turn because the glitter ended up looking more like a rainbow! Go figure! Keep reading to check it out!

 photo DSCN4591_edited-1_zps30b07e2e.jpg
 photo DSCN4571_edited-1_zps041ddc92.jpg

I used Zoya Rekha from the Fall 2013 Designer Collection as my base, you can check out swatches of it alone here! I find myself reaching for this shade again & again so it was an easy pick!

 photo DSCN4579_edited-1_zps5bad81ab.jpg
 photo DSCN4598_edited-1_zps83035625.jpg
 photo DSCN4631_edited-1_zps3b7559da.jpg

The glitter I used on the base of my nail is red & above it is an irridescent verrrrry light pink. Bet you wouldn’t have even guessed that right? Well, I really wasn’t thinking. & actually that is totally fine with me! Check out the way this glitter catches the light. Doesn’t it look like I was doing rainbow nail art? I then topped it off with a clear top coat.

December 2013 Beauty Lust List + Update featuring It Cosmetics, Boscia, & Blogger Enablers!

December 30, 2013 By StephanieLouise 200Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Fdecember-2013-beauty-lust-list-update.htmlDecember+2013+Beauty+Lust+List+%2B+Update+featuring+It+Cosmetics%2C+Boscia%2C+%26+Blogger+Enablers%212013-12-30+14%3A59%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Fdecember-2013-beauty-lust-list-update-featuring-it-cosmetics-boscia-blogger-enablers.html

Is it really almost 2014? How does time keep flying by so fast? The holidays were wonderful &  I even took a much needed blogging break. Boy was it nice to get away from the computer! Plus tons of shopping! Check out what I’m lusting after, what I got off my list from last month, & which bloggers/vloggers have me yearning for new beauty finds!
From my November 2013 Beauty Lust List which you can see here I actually ended up with four out of six products! I absolutely caved but it was the holidays…there were sales! I just couldn’t help it! I ended up picking up the The Tarte of Giving Collector’s Set & Travel Bag, Cargo Let’s Meet In Paris Eye Shadow Palette for Christmas from my husband,  Stila Color Outside The Lines Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner Set & the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette…because I have about no self control. Clearly.

 photo It-Cosmetics-Naturally-Pretty-Matte-Luxe-Shadow-PaletteULTA_zps1565dcf7.jpg

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Eye Shadow Palette– Oh palettes…how you steal my heart! I’m a huge fan of It Cosmetics (just type it into my blog search bar for past looks & reviews!) & I desperately want to get my hands on this new palette! I’ve heard nothing but great things about It Cosmetics eyeshadows but have never had the opportunity to try them myself. I love that all of the shades are matte except for one “pearl transforming” shade which makes this palette crazy versatile! I really, really need this!

 photo BECCATheOnePerfectingBrushSephora_zpsc302eaea.jpg

BECCA The One Perfecting Brush– Basically…this brush is supposed to do everything. Like everything. It might even work mind control. “It can be used effectively as a foundation brush, powder brush, contour brush, bronzer brush, stipple brush, blush brush, fan brush, concealer brush, kabuki, or sponge.” Yes, all of that. I’m looking forward to reading tons of reviews & seeing video demos because she is a bit pricey!

 photo TooFacedTheChocolateBarEyePaletteSephora_zpsea83124b.jpg

Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette– Another palette…stop rolling your eyes! Lots of neutrals & formulated with cocoa powder for that chocolate experience? Yes, why yes I am interested! Although mainly neutral there are a few cohesive colors. I’m still needing to mull this one over & possibly visit it in store!

 photo REVLONHighlightingPalettePinkUlta_zpse4879257.jpg

Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow– Out of the three color options available currently from the new Revlon line, Rose Glow definitely appeals to me most. Bronze & Peach are both lovely & I might pick up Peach for the summer? But the pink tones remind me a lot of the gorgeous Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips I adore except I’m much more likely to use these on my eyes as well. Excited to finally play with these in person!

 photo BosciaTsubakiDeepHydrationSleepingMaskSephora_zpsf8ec7793.jpg

Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask– This must be a new mask because I’m sure I would have sampled it by now! ” A deeply-hydrating overnight sleeping mask that intensely moisturizes and protects to deliver long-term antiaging benefits and smoother, baby-soft skin.” My very dry skin is kicking me for not getting this before the holidays! It has been so dry & windy here…I just can’t imagine a mask doing everything I want overnight! Too exciting! Plus, my skin tends to get along really well with Boscia.

BLOGGER/VLOGGER ENABLERS
The blogs I read & videos I watch that constantly leave me wanting to splurge on beauty.

Pink Sith Blog– This is less of a “I NEED TO BUY THAT!” & more of a It is perfectly okay for me to wear that daily type of thing. She posted about her favorite cold weather fragrances here & I’ve been wearing Flowerbomb nearly nonstop. I just can’t get enough! & clearly if Pink Sith approves that is totally okay.

My Beauty Bunny– Jen has created her own beauty product & I can’t wait to try it for myself! She has created an AHA moisturizer that is all-natural, cruelty free, vegan, GMO-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, triclosan-free, artificial fragrance-free, gluten-free, and petrochemical-free! Check out her post with tons of details here! I’m too excited about it being able to even out skin tone too!

The PolishAholic– Dandy Nails isn’t a brand I’ve tried or really seen around much but these swatches totally blew my mind! Holo-heaven! I definitely need to check into this brand & as always her swatches are fantastic so check them out right this minute here!

So there you have it! I did tons of shopping the past two months…probably why my list isn’t currently a million miles long! How about you? Anything fabulous I need to check out? Tell me about it below in the comments!

It is December…has it been a shock to anyone else that in less than a month it will be January? Where did the time go? Get Old is an initiative developed by Pfizer to challenge people of all ages to rethink what it means to Get Old and take a more active role in their health and quality of life at every age. I’d like to share with you some of my resolutions this year that I’ve been thinking of which I think is an awesome way to think about changing things up for 2014! Keep reading to check it out!
With a new year well within sight I’m trying to come up with some resolutions and ideas to make my life better overall. I’m trying to really think ahead and come up with things I need to change or improve on, for both my life and my home.

1. Get up & get moving.
I think this is an obvious one right? I spend way too much time behind a computer screen (or applying eye shadow) and need to get a whole lot more active on a regular basis. This really hit home with me this year as we start talking about our next big military move and having a kid someday. I need to not just make this a more active year but every day needs to be more active. I really want to find a routine that works for me and my schedule. We only have one body apparently so I need to get on this!

2. Actively be more positive & less pessimistic.
This is constantly something I’m working on! I’m an admitted worrier- I think a lot about the “what if” which definitely causes some unnecessary stress and also triggers my anxiety. I’ve been looking up some methods on how to take a few moments to take myself out of a negative place and to shock myself into remembering to be more optimistic. I’m hoping these things will really benefit me in the coming year and for many years to come!

3. Take care of my skin, nails, etc. every night, not just when I remember!
I have two types of night routines- the one when I’ve got lots of time/energy and then the sloppy I-want-to-go-to-bed-NOW routine. Yeah I admit it again, I can be lazy. Can you really blame me after a long day? Well even if you won’t I will! I need to take the time to keep my skin and body in check…I only get one after all!

4. Get a menu plan down pat.
There are so many amazing things about cooking at home: the taste, the money you save, the leftovers… Seriously, we love eating at home. I just really need to manage my time better and plan out my meals in a way I can really stick to them week to week! I definitely think setting strict business hours will help and hopefully that will free up some time to make some homemade pasta, wontons, and start having more thought out dinners at home. Plus, it will definitely help us get healthier and feel better. Eating at home always does that for us!

5. Be better prepared business wise!
I’ve been doing so much last minute planning, writing, scheduling, and accounting because I put off so much this year! Honestly I don’t do this with everything but when it comes to my tax information for my business, setting up my filming schedule, and just random things like that. This can’t be good for my skin right? Am I seriously giving myself wrinkles over this? Psh I need to get it together from Day #1 this year!

What Kind of Courses Should I Take to Improve My Blogging Career?

Do you ever wonder how bloggers use business tools and courses to their advantage? Wondering what kind of educational classes to take to further yourself in the blogosphere? There are tons and that isn’t even counting those specific to your industry! Here are some of my top picks to advance your blogging career since education is the #1 most important step if you want to build a monetized platform.

Look at your blog as a business because it is! What kind of courses do you need to invest in to see the return in your blog? The ones I always think of first are writing (of course!) but you’ll want to look more into areas you might not have needed to delve into at your prior employment.

Math is a huge part of starting a real business because you’re going to be dealing with money. Accounting classes are excellent to get under your belt as well as looking into advertising courses to better market yourself. Because you are a brand now, you’ll need to start looking at yourself as one. While you didn’t cut your own check or remove taxes likely at your previous position now you’re doing all of that and more! You’ll need to keep your own books, references for taxes, and so much more. You’ll also need to learn how to sell yourself and your blog and track everything as you go.

Some other courses to look at are public speaking/debate, communications, and photo editing classes. All of these things come together to make you blog (and you!) better as a whole. You’ll eventually want to be speaking face to face with clients, photographing outside of your studio, and editing more photos a day than the normal person takes in a year. Streamlining and learning these things from a professional will save you tons of wasted time, wasted money, and just plain frustration. It is so much better to be prepared because there is a ton of competition in the blogging community. You need to be original but you also need to be very professional. Many bloggers also ghostwrite (writing classes pay off!), run social media for brands, and tackle lots of miscellaneous guest posts and various projects.

The bottom line is- educate yourself by investing in yourself. You’ll see a major return in your blogging, writing, and day to day ease of commitment. Because this job is technology-based it is constantly changing and evolving, and so should we. You’ll never be sorry that you learned how to speak confidently in public or that you can balance your own books.
