OPI Sprung + Color Club Williamsburg Easy Fall Nail Art Combo

If you love fall & haven’t tried this kind of nail combo run to your stash right now. I love the way a deep fall blue looks with a rich orange metallic. When orange feels “too intense” (not for me, but apparently for others!) & a dark shade needs some fun…this is the answer. Keep reading to see the results!

If you saw my review of Color Club Williamsburg (see it here! These swatches are most color accurate because it is deeper in person) then you know how much I like this blue. It is dark which can be too vampy for some. OPI Sprung is definitely a fall shade, the metallic orange speaks for itself with the vibrant tones. The stripes are really simple but look a bit fun. End result you have an updated look somewhere in between spunky & one toned. Love it! Also I topped it with some Seche Vite for an overall glossy look which helps make it look more metallic.

What do you think of this manicure? Are there any combos for fall that you love?

Sinful Colors Crystal Crushes Texture in Treasure Chest & Purple Gleam Swatches & Review

November 3, 2013 By StephanieLouise 272Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F11%2Fsinful-colors-crystal-crushes-texture.htmlSinful+Colors+Crystal+Crushes+Texture+in+Treasure+Chest+%26+Purple+Gleam+Swatches+%26+Review2013-11-03+12%3A25%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F11%2Fsinful-colors-crystal-crushes-texture-in-treasure-chest-purple-gleam-swatches-review.html

PR Sample.

I am all about the texture trend (check out past reviews about the textured Zoyas, OPI, Wet n Wild, etc) & when I heard Sinful Colors was coming out with some of their own I squealed with excitement! The two colors I have to show you today are Treasure Chest & Purple Gleam…& I love them!
The formula on these shades has kind of a lighter texture, not a heavy duty grit. I applied Purple Gleam first & did two sheerer coats (although these are pretty darn opaque!) which covered really nicely. For Treasure Chest I did one thicker coat & found it applied much better than trying to apply it more sheer & it still dried down to a great texture finish.

Sparkle and glimmer this fall with SinfulColors shade collection: Crystal Crushes. It is a brilliant collection of gem-inspired nail polish shades with multifaceted 3D texture. Gorgeous matte colors flecked with a reflective pearl finish sure to dazzle your digits and make your heart skip a beat.  The Crystal Crushes collection features eight vivid shades sprinkled with an angel dust finish.  The colorful trend shades you love from SinfulColors!

Sinful Colors Purple Gleam- A a slightly warm toned lilac that has purple/pink/blue shimmer/sheen that dries down to a matte, textured finish. 2 more sheer coats, no top coat.

 photo SinfulColorsTexturenailPolishTreasureChestampPurpleGleamSwatchesreview06_zps7d83d1f9.jpg

Sinful Colors Treasure Chest- A green toned aqua that has a brightness with golden shimmer/sheen that dries down to a matte, textured finish. 1 even coat, no top coat.

* I’ve been wearing SinfulColors Treasure Chest on my nails for 5 days now without any chipping!!!*

These polishes aren’t as glittery/flashy as the Zoya Pixie Dusts but for $2.99 I think they’re quite impressive! I love the shimmer & although they aren’t in your face they are still absolutely lovely. If you don’t love the ultra-textured feel to some of the brands on the market then I think you’d also really like these! They don’t snag on things or get as dirty because they’re less gritty.

Where to Buy:  Exclusive to Walgreens Fall of 2013

When your husband is in the military, you get used to spending holidays alone. Halloween is my favorite holiday by far & he has only been home 1 out of the past 5 years for Halloween. Depressing! He’s working through it & it has me a bit down in the dumps this year so my nail art is pretty basic. I like it though! I think it was cute & I was asked for some basic nail art designs so here it is!

 photo Halloween2013NailArtRandomCatWitchPumpkinGhostEasyZoyaOwlArt06_zps39947842.jpg

Black & white polishes used are OPI Alpine Snow & Wet n Wild Black Creme. Top coat is my beloved Revlon Colorstay Gel-Shine Top Coat. Other polishes listed below!

China Glaze Halloween 2013 Fang-tastic, Boo-gie Down, & Howl You Doin’ Swatches & Review

October 29, 2013 By StephanieLouise 2793 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F10%2Fchina-glaze-halloween-2013-fan-tastic.htmlChina+Glaze+Halloween+2013+Fang-tastic%2C+Boo-gie+Down%2C+%26+Howl+You+Doin%27+Swatches+%26+Review2013-10-29+01%3A11%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F10%2Fchina-glaze-halloween-2013-fang-tastic-boo-gie-down-howl-you-doin-swatches-review.html

 photo Fan-tasticBoo-gieDownampHowlYouDoinChinaGlazeHalloween2013MainSwatchesReview_zpsd988e5b3.jpg

I bought it.

Halloween pretties are often my favorites. Perhaps because it is my favorite holiday? Another reason is likely that I end up finding black glitter which used to be hard to find (not so much anymore!) & I love mysterious type shades. When I was choosing shades from the China Glaze Halloween collection I ended up with three shades:  Fang-tastic, Boo-gie Down, & Howl You Doin’. Keep reading to see what I think!
I used an even topper of Out the Door for the swatches below. 2/3 are over a base & those shades will be reviewed soon! All of these shades are limited edition & I’m a bit behind in posting these so if you do like a shade try to snap it up locally or buy online like I do ๐Ÿ˜‰

 photo ChinaGlazeFang-tasticNailPolishSwatchesReviewHalloween2013OverSinfulColorsLacedUp01_zpsee6b8420.jpg

China Glaze Fang-tastic- A mix of blue, fuchsia, blurple, & green hex glitters in a clear base. One coat over Sinful Colors Laced Up. This doesn’t look Halloween-esque to me but I still really like it. This is something I honestly would’ve thought was from a spring collection even but application/glitter payoff were pretty Fang-tastic (see what I did there?) so I shall let it pass.

 photo ChinaGlazeBoo-gieDownNailPolishSwatchesReviewHalloween2013OverSinfulColorsStrapped03_zps209396b3.jpg

China Glaze Boo-gie Down- Black, white, & copper glitter in varying sizes in a clear base. This has some awesome varying sizes of hexes from micro to medium/large & even some black bare glitter. This applied really nicely which was a big relief since the last white glitter I bought from China Glaze was Whirled Away…& it was a total mess (read about that fiasco here but my swatches have really changed!). I think this is my favorite polish of the three because it just looks so fall-tastic. One coat over Sinful Colors Strapped.

 photo ChinaGlazeHowlYouDoinNailPolishSwatchesReviewHalloween201302_zpse077dc3e.jpg
 photo ChinaGlazeHowlYouDoinNailPolishSwatchesReviewHalloween201303_zpsa47c27a4.jpg
 photo ChinaGlazeHowlYouDoinNailPolishSwatchesReviewHalloween201301_zps0584b578.jpg

China Glaze Howl You Doin’- This is a red based purple jelly-ish base packed with purple small glitter & orange-ish shard flakes. It was really kind of balding on the first coat but the second coat evened it out. I had a heck of a time with cleanup on this on for some reason!

I’m really happy I picked up all three of these shades & can actually see myself using all 3 repeatedly which is key when you accumulate a stash like mine at the moment. Boo-gie Down is my favorite of the 3 I think but I am both a black & white polish & copper anything sucker so that could totally be why!

Have you picked up any of these shades? What are some of your favorite Halloween shades?

I wanted something pretty abstract & easy since that was most requested by you guys for this Halloween. Sleeping Beauty happens to be my favorite Disney princess-type movie & Maleficent one of my favorite villains. I’ve seen some fabulous Maleficent costumes & makeup but not much nail art so I put this together for fun! Keep reading for details!

Base color is SoFlaJo Black Mamba (full swatches & review here) for that Maleficent green of course. Textured shades used for the magical powers are Zoya Carter & Zoya Dahlia (full swatches here).
So what is your favorite villain or Disney movie? What do you think of my inspiration?

When it comes to fall, most people go for creams. Me? I love a good cream but I can’t imagine going a whole season without some serious glitz. After reviewing Rainbow Honey Lumine Hall I knew I wanted to use it as a base in something fun so I went all out with some golden rainbow goodness sponged on my tips! Keep reading for close ups & what I used!

Base shade: Rainbow Honey Cosmetics Nail Polish in Lumine Hall (review & swatches here!)
Lightly sponged middle shade is Sephora by OPI Nail Polish in Wild About Shimmer
Multi-colored glitter tip shade is Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Disco Dolls

& here it is with Butter LONDON Matte Finish Shine Free Topcoat to mattify!

I can’t decide if I prefer this look matte or not…but I think I’m leaning towards matte! The hexes in Lumine Hall stick out more & the rainbow glitters look more vibrant to me. This was seriously so much fun to wear & I got lots of compliments & questions. Definitely glitzy!

Spookfest: Claire’s Graffiti + Pigment Zombie Nail Art Fail

October 16, 2013 By StephanieLouise 288Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F10%2Fspookfest-claires-graffiti-pigment.htmlSpookfest%3A+Claire%27s+Graffiti+%2B+Pigment+Zombie+Nail+Art+Fail2013-10-16+14%3A26%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F10%2Fspookfest-claires-graffiti-pigment-zombie-nail-art-fail.html

 photo SpookfestNailFailPigmentHalloweenNailArt04_zpsbea79d0b.jpg

Think because summer is over neons are out? Psh. Claire’s threw in some black & white glitter…how could I say no? I love these kind of shades as a base for Halloween nails because they really stand out. I’ve been wanting to try this pigment blowing technique for a long time…success? Keep reading to find out!

 photo SpookfestNailFailPigmentHalloweenNailArt03_zps1efd447a.jpg

Man isn’t this hideous? I started with OPI Alpine Snow then topped it with Claire’s Nail Polish in Graffiti which I really do actually like. I used Seche Vite & the pigments are Amuse 01 (a silvery dark grey) & LA Splash Eyeshadow in Island Sunset (neon orange).

 photo SpookfestNailFailPigmentHalloweenNailArt05_zps0921ea9c.jpg

It all went so very wrong. They look like gross zombie nails. I tried using the black first but I don’t think it was fine enough because it clumped & barely moved. Then more topcoat & tried the orange. I knew it was a mess & topped it for photos anyway.

 photo SpookfestNailFailPigmentHalloweenNailArt01_zpsed73ca7e.jpg
 photo SpookfestNailFailPigmentHalloweenNailArt02_zpsc97e5c3a.jpg

Speaking of a mess…My hands are stained to high heaven. My hands, arms, thighs…everything. Even under my nails on the other hand. They look disgusting.

Make me feel better: What are some of your nail fails? Anything you tried recently turn out oh so very wrong?

I feel like copper can totally be a year round shade but I break it out a lot more during the fall. Doesn’t it just go with all of the fall shades perfectly? Did you see my post on Sephora by OPI in Lights, Glammer-a, Action! If you did then you probably know about the amazing sale currently on this line at Sephora & how much I love the jewelry topcoats. Today I show you a shade that is both a bargain & really pretty!

Here it is with some Butter LONDON Matte Finish Topcoat. Pretty & crisp for fall! By the way, my base shade is from the Tracy Reese Fall 2013 Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Collection & is called Malbec. I reviewed & swatched it here along with Gold Roses with is a stunner!

I love this polish so much! Most shades that promise to be copper lean rose gold or bronze. Rose gold is great & so is bronze but they just aren’t copper! This shade specifically isn’t availible at the moment on the Sephora website BUT that doesn’t mean it won’t come back! There are lots of lovely polishes in this line & the current 3 bottles for $10 deal is definitely worth a look! If you have your heart set on this shade I suggest picking it up at your local Sephora store!

Adopt a Shelter Dog Nail Art + My Rescues + Linkup!

October 14, 2013 By StephanieLouise 291Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F10%2Fadopt-shelter-dog-nail-art-my-rescues.htmlAdopt+a+Shelter+Dog+Nail+Art+%2B+My+Rescues+%2B+Linkup%212013-10-14+13%3A38%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F10%2Fadopt-a-shelter-dog-nail-art-my-rescues-linkup.html

 photo ASPCARescueAnimalPetDogCatNailArtMain_zps59e66b18.jpg

For those of you who aren’t aware, I’m a crazy pet person. I love them. We don’t have kids at the moment (or for awhile off) & having pets just make our day so much brighter. October is Adopt A Shelter Dog Awareness month so how could I not participate when invited? With 4 babies from some kind of rescue type situation I was really excited to try my hand (punk full on intended) at some nail art inspired by them! I grew up with lots of different dogs & even some cats but today I wanted to talk about the four currently under our roof!

 photo ASPCANailArtCatDogFreehandAnimalRescueManicure01_zps94f284b2.jpg

So first lets talk about my pets! The nails above are without top coat & before major cleanup by the way so the photos below are a bit better. These up close shots prior just came out better to me! I used loads of different polishes so if you want to know about any specific shades, just let me know!

 photo AdoptaPetShelterRescuedAnimalNailArt_zpsd56d1e9b.jpg

Pointer finger- Gizmo was our first pet together. She was a pretty darn big deal for us newlyweds & has made all of our military moves pretty seamlessly. Honestly, it is probably because we have all the food therefore we have the power. She is definitely food motivated. We got her from a rescue & she has been super mellow ever since. She’s playful but mostly a fabulous napper & gold star eater.

Middle finger- Cobo was our 2nd pet & Ryan needed him for his life. He always wanted a Boxer so when a bunch of Boxer/Shar Pei pups needed homes he came home with us. He provided endless entertainment & is constantly the center of attention. Kind of goofy, extremely loving, & obnoxiously clumsy he is always the star of the show.

Ring finger- Sawyer is our newest pet, only had her for about a month. Ryan found her screaming in our front yard after a big storm. She was tiny so we took her in & fed her. When no one claimed her…it was honestly too late as attachments had formed. Extremely energetic & playful she is the new blood in the house.

Pinkie finger- Zeus was found by a friend who runs a rescue in California wandering the streets with a messed up front leg. Our best guess is part Poodle & part Bichon. I had actually gone over to her house to look at a new Boxer baby she had found when Zeus totally fell in love with me. He was already 4-5 & just as lovey as could be. He is constantly by my side & smiling as poodles often do.

 photo ASPCANailArtCatDogFreehandAnimalRescueManicure03_zpsef19b431.jpg

Rather than saying “GO TO YOUR LOCAL SHELTER NOW!” I want you to realize how much love they can bring into your home. Take the time to find a breed that works with your whole family (pet finder has a great way to find out for free here) & who you’ll be able to share your time & love with. If you are interested in a certain breed not found at your local shelter I urge you to look into rescues. You’ll find rescues for about every type of animal looking for a forever home. You can find shelters near you from ASPCA here.

 photo ASPCANailArtCatDogFreehandAnimalRescueManicure04_zps4c153975.jpg

 photo ASPCANailArtCatDogFreehandAnimalRescueManicure02_zps47edfa8a.jpg

I really hoped you enjoyed the manicure, I had a lot of fun creating it! If you have any furry friends I’d love to hear about them & don’t forget the many other manicures below!

Claire’s Graffiti Nail Polish Swatches & Review

 photo ClairesGraffitiNailPolishSwatchesReview02_zps2e2dcfbd.jpg

I picked this shade up at Claire’s awhile back on sale, I’m guessing they consider it a summer polish. Not me! I totally love neons with black & white glitter so this is just too cool to pass up. Keep reading to see more detailed swatches!

 photo ClairesGraffitiNailPolishSwatchesReview01_zps176cfeae.jpg

 photo ClairesGraffitiNailPolishSwatchesReview03_zps804b3d1b.jpg

Claire’s Nail Polish in Graffiti- A neon highliter green based yellow packed with black micro hexes, small hexes, medium hexes, large hexes, black bar glitter, & white large hexes. 2 coats over OPI Alpine Snow. Dries matte so swatches include one coat of Out the Door.

I love that this base is sheer so I can go back & layer. I honestly didn’t have to do much, the glitter didn’t clump up all that much or leave many balding spots. Claire’s polishes can be hard to pin down so if you want this shade or something similar I suggest checking out your local Claire’s store. I’ll probably never get over the black & white glitter trend so I’m always excited to add something new to my collection!
