Sephora by OPI in Lights, Glammer-a, Action! Swatches & Review

I bought it. Affiliate links.

For those that don’t know, Sephora by OPI is being discontinued to make room for a new line so they are all on clearance. I picked some up on sale for 3 for $10 in the Sephora store but the deal is also active online. I quite like this line, especially the glitters which they call Jewelry Top Coats, so if you’re interested they’re a great deal. Today I show off Sephora by OPI in Lights, Glammer-a, Action! over Sinful Shine Royal Flush which I reviewed here.

Sephora by OPI in Lights, Glammer-a, Action!- Medium faded gold hexes, small silver hexes, & teal micro-hexes suspended in a clear base. 2 coats.

For the photos I topped the glitter with a coat of Out the Door. Love me some glitz, how about you? I thought this combo was unique enough to snap up since they were on big sale & I was buying some for myself & as gifts. I think this will be really pretty over fall shades with the faded gold & teal scattered loveliness. I’m thinking I’ll pair it with Zoya Louise for a rich chocolate base!

What do you think? Is this glitter combo a hit? Are you checking out the Sephora by OPI line before it is going…going..gonzo?

Friday the 13th Bloody Static TV Nail Art!

September 13, 2013 By StephanieLouise 319Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F09%2Ffriday-13th-bloody-static-tv-nail-art.htmlFriday+the+13th+Bloody+Static+TV+Nail+Art%212013-09-13+07%3A00%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F09%2Ffriday-the-13th-bloody-static-tv-nail-art.html

 photo Fridaythe13thBloodyTVStaticNailArtManicureHalloweenMain_zps11021929.jpg

I bought it.

Halloween is my very favorite holiday of the year & Friday the 13th this year feels like a little preview! I wanted to take a page from a scene you’ll see in lots of horror/slasher flicks: the static TV. You know exactly what I mean…the TV gets all static-y & suddenly…it gets eerie. Yeah! I went with an easy design but I think it captured the vibe!

Base Coat: Essie Base Coat in Grow Stronger
Base Color: Wet n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color in French White Creme
Black & White Glitters: Claire’s Splatter (review here) & Hard Candy Black Tie Optional
Matte Top Coat: Butter LONDON Matte Finish Shine Free Top Coat
Red Glitter “Blood”: NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel in 116 Broadway Burgundy Frost

 photo Fridaythe13thBloodyTVStaticNailArtManicureHalloween02_zpse2551722.jpg

Honestly I started out with the Claire’s Splatter polish over the white & had forgotten that it was that scattered. I reached for the Hard Candy afterwards. I wanted it to look a bit dull in comparison to the “blood” so I topped it with Butter LONDON Matte. I chose to use the NYC in Broadway Burgundy Frost because I thought back to this rave from Nouveau Cheap & sifted through my stash to find it. While the name is just silly (not burgundy… not a frost at all…) the color fit with my idea. I figured the shimmer would catch the light & the jelly formula would let you see beneath & look liquidy/glossy.

I’m pretty darn happy with the outcome! I’m curious about what you think about this look & Friday the 13th in general. Are you superstitious? What’s on your nails this fine day?

Butter London Silly Billy + Keks Nail Art!

I feel like summer is fading pretty darn quick. Usually I feel like it lasts longer than other seasons but not this year! Today I’m showing you some quick wave nail art with 2 of my favorite Summer Clash shades from Butter London.

Along with Butter London Silly Billy & Keks (full review here!) I used a striper from LA Colors that is kind of a gold/bronze/copper mix. Really pretty but sadly the name totally wore off! It is a pretty easy nail art look since I was a bit short on time. For those that don’t know…my parents are arriving today! They’ve driven all the way from California to see us over Nebraska so it should be an awesome week! I also did a saran wrap manicure using Butter London Keks & Cheeky Chops which you can see here ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you think? What colors are you rocking most before you head into fall?

PR Sample. Referral link.

So I received this amazing polish in my Wantable box & normally I’d review the box then do swatches… however there was a bit of a snag & they’re replacing a product so we’re switching it up. This polish just couldn’t wait, isn’t she lovely? keep reading to see more swatches & find out about the completely new to me polish company called Rainbow Honey!

 photo WantableBoxAugust201305_zps971c2ca6.jpg
 photo WantableBoxAugust201306_zps7a4e4b0e.jpg

Rainbow Honey appears to be closed right now & oddly enough with my great timing they’ll be reopening tomorrow & restocked with lots of gorgeous shades which I spied on their lovely facebook page. Their products are Big 3 free & made with ingredients never tested on animals. Plus they’re made in the USA, love supporting my country! They happen to be designed & distributed in Clifton, New Jersey.

Rainbow Honey Lumine Hall- An indigo jelly-ish base packed with blue, purple, & gold shimmer then topped off with amazing square iridescent glitter. 2 coats. 1 coat of quick dry top coat.

 photo RainbowHoneyNailPolishLumineHallSwatches05_zps4f8c6967.jpg
 photo RainbowHoneyNailPolishLumineHallSwatches04_zps97ed8911.jpg

Here it is matte which obviously takes away the jelly-ness but I think it lets you see how playful these glitters actually are. 1 coat of Butter LONDON Matte Finish Top Coat for this.

Overall, very happy! This is a lovely polish with an original coloring & glitter configuration. Plus, the bottle & brush were quite nice & easy to work with! I didn’t have to mess too much with glitter placement or dragging so that is always appreciated. I think I’ll be on the lookout for more Rainbow Honey shades after trying Lumine Hall…

What do you think? Are you a big indigo fan as well? I just love them! Any must haves from Rainbow Honey that I need to specifically check out?

Butter London Cheeky Chops & Keks Saran Wrap Manicure!

This is a super easy nail art technique, all you need is a bit of plastic! I used Butter London Cheeky Chops as a base then dabbed a bit of Keks on a little square of saran wrap. Then I just randomly dabbed it on & cleaned up around the edges! Easy peasy!

I really like this! I’m excited to try it with some metallics, I think it will be really pretty for the holiday season! What do you think? Have you tried the saran wrap technique?

Zoya Fall-ing Leaves Abstract Nail Art!

August 27, 2013 By StephanieLouise 335Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F08%2Fzoya-fall-ing-leaves-abstract-nail-art.htmlZoya+Fall-ing+Leaves+Abstract+Nail+Art%212013-08-27+23%3A40%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F08%2Fzoya-fall-ing-leaves-abstract-nail-art.html

I love fall so much- the plums, the changing colors, vampy looks…fabulous. When I swatched the Zoya Fall 2013 Cashmere & Satin Collections (check out the Satin Collection & the Cashmere Collection swatches here!) I knew I wanted to do a little impromptu nail art to get into the fall spirit. Keep reading to see which shades I used & how it turned out!

 photo ZoyaFall-ingLeavesNailArt01_zps2582c8f7.jpg
 photo ZoyaFall-ingLeavesNailArt02_zps48f66994.jpg

I decided to go with a classic red base using Zoya Livingston. I created abstract leaves using the shades Louise, Giovanna, & Channing. I pulled a dot of color out using a nail art tool with a point, nothing complicated. Then I added the spectacular Zoya Maria Luisa to the tips for a bit more dimension. Last I added a top coat to seal it all together.

Welp that’s it for my first fall nail art post! It feels like fall is coming sooner than ever this year, does anyone else feel the same? I can also smell the pumpkin pie!

Love a shiny manicure? Me too! I reviewed two of the new SinfulShine Nail Polishes when I first saw them back in May (check out SinfulShine Alfresco & Mardi Gras here!) but now I have 2 more! I chose SinfulShine in Set the Mood& Royal Flush in anticipation of fall, don’t they just look fall ready? Keep reading to check them out!

 photo SinfulShineSettheMood02_zpsb6edc3a7.jpg

SinfulShine Nail Polish in Set the Mood- Dusty blue toned teal creme. 1 coat. No top coat.

 photo SinfulShineRoyalFlush01_zps56c5723f.jpg

SinfulShine Nail Polish in Royal Flush- Purple toned fuchsia creme. 1 coat. No top coat.

SinfulShine is a collection from Sinful Colors, a brand I cover a lot on this blog & buy frequently. The SinfulShine line retails for $2.99 each & there are 32 high shine shades available exclusively at Walgreens. They have also released a new limited edition collection for Fall 2013…I hope to see them release many more because I really enjoy this formula!

These are definitely high shine & only one coaters! Awesome! I love these two shades, especially for fall. The formula & shades are just overall great. They actually last very nicely on my nails too without damage…& no top coat or extra steps needed!

Wet n Wild Tough Girl Textured Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review

August 21, 2013 By StephanieLouise 341Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F08%2Fwet-n-wild-tough-girl-textured-nail.htmlWet+n+Wild+Tough+Girl+Textured+Nail+Polish+Collection+Swatches+%26+Review2013-08-21+12%3A28%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F08%2Fwet-n-wild-tough-girl-textured-nail-polish-collection-swatches-review.html

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishesMain_zps43b1b62a.jpg

Wet n Wild finally jumped on the textured nail polish trend! For their Tough Girl Collection they have released some limited edition eyeshadow trios & these limited edition polishes. These shades retail for $3.99 each…pretty pricey for only 0.34 fl oz! All 6 shades are textured with varying finishes & formula, keep reading to find out more!

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes06_zps2c9e7067.jpg

Let us talk about the packaging/brush first shall we? Do not like. I don’t like the giant cap that makes it hard to see my tiny nail beds. I do not like the ultra fluffy brush that picks up gobs of polish. I hate that because these are textured you have to apply thin coats which is just not conducive to this sort of setup! I really hope they re-think this type of cap/bottle/brush combo in the future, especially for $3.99 a piece. On top of that, these polishes took noticeably longer to dry when compared to my beloved Zoya Pixie Dusts which you can see here or even the OPI Liquid Sands. Why? Not really sure! I feel like these shades weren’t quite the in your face texture as those or the very textured options from Sally Hansen. They didn’t feel nearly as gritty & with some applications they just didn’t look as good. Here is a link to my 3rd review of the Sally Hansen Sugar Coats which contained some awesome shades for fall!

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes031_zps92fa5f36.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes02_zps5ed78a18.jpg

Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Femme Trouper- A fair peachy/pink neutral with fine gold shimmer throughout. 2 coats.
I definitely messed up swatching this as this was my first go. I just swatched too thick with that darn brush to begin with. You can still see the texture but not so much the shimmer sadly. Could have probably used 3 ultra thin coats.

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes03_zps0e0496a8.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes04_zpsf82e0cf9.jpg

Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Fatigue Glam- A dusty rose/mauve. 2 coats.
This was much thinner & easier to use. While a lot of people dub these types of shades “grandma colors” I found I quite liked it. This looked more textured to me as well. Very even.

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes07_zpsb40390f7.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes08_zps6170ff1a.jpg

Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Tough Girl- Medium grey. 2 coats.
Expectantly, this was a bit streaky. While I do like it…this shade took forever to dry & isn’t quite dried down in these photos.

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes010_zpsc25717ce.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes09_zps3882b983.jpg

Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Left, Left, Left, Right, Left- A medium bright blue. 2 coats.
This is a brightened version of the oh-so-popular Monaco Blue popping up everywhere for Fall 2013. I really like this shade a lot & I feel like you can get away with wearing it all year! I probably could have gotten away with one coat, very opaque!

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes011_zps69e4d6a2.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes011_zps4b9835dc.jpg

Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Beauty is a Battlefield!- An indigo leaning metallic purple. 2 coats.
I wasn’t sure about this on in the bottle but I actually don’t mind it on. For some reason it just didn’t look as textured to me but at least it wasn’t streaky after it dried! I was also pleasantly surprised with the indigo hue once on since it was definitely purple in the bottle.

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes014_zpsdca94b76.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes013_zpsc21be107.jpg
 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes015_zps19e6d785.jpg

Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in ATTEN Hut!- Metallic silvered olive green with antique gold shimmer. 2 coats.
This looked a bit darker & more olive once on the nail. I love it of course, green + shimmer? Yes. Definitely my favorite from this collection. The shimmer is really pretty as it catches the light & so fall.

 photo WnWToughGirlTexturedNailPolishes01_zps1e011d8e.jpg

So there you have it, all 6 shades! I found mine at Walgreens on a specialty display for $3.99 each, I’m not sure where else they’ve been spotted.

I didn’t have any dupes in this set & it was refreshing to see both shimmers & pure colors. They wear really well as well which is why I’ve hit the textured band wagon so hard. We totally scrubbed down the kitchen with stuff that makes nail polish melt last night (real scrubbing!) & I only have one small chip. Coverup is super easy & you don’t even have to remove the shade beneath! I am excited to see is Wet n Wild comes out with more…I hope someone comes out with a holo textured shade soon! I’ll buy the heck out of that!

Untried Tuesday: OPI Minnie Style Swatches & Review

I bought it. Affiliate links.

So…ready for a new series? I have LOTS of untried or unswatched polishes & every Tuesday I’m going to show you a new one! I think this is going to be a lot of fun for you guys & for me as well! So many polishes…so little time! I’m kicking it off with the only OPI polish I picked up from the OPI Couture de Minnie Collection. Keep reading to see OPI Minnie Style over SinfulShine Set the Mood!

OPI Minnie Style- White, faded red, & hot pink hexes suspended in a clear base. 2 coats. Seen here over SinfulShine Set the Mood.

I feel like this was kind of hard to use unfortunately. My base was kind of gloopy feeling, maybe because I’ve been using so many indie glitters with great consistency. I had to fumble a bit with placement as well. I really do like the glitter combination though! Very Minnie Mouse & unique to my collection. Original enough that I enjoy the shade but not great application. I topped it off with Seche Vite. This was actually my second application of this polish…the first bubbled like mad!

What do you think of this glitter combo? What kinds of polishes would you like to see more of from my stash?
