Wet n Wild finally jumped on the textured nail polish trend! For their Tough Girl Collection they have released some limited edition eyeshadow trios & these limited edition polishes. These shades retail for $3.99 each…pretty pricey for only 0.34 fl oz! All 6 shades are textured with varying finishes & formula, keep reading to find out more!
Let us talk about the packaging/brush first shall we? Do not like. I don’t like the giant cap that makes it hard to see my tiny nail beds. I do not like the ultra fluffy brush that picks up gobs of polish. I hate that because these are textured you have to apply thin coats which is just not conducive to this sort of setup! I really hope they re-think this type of cap/bottle/brush combo in the future, especially for $3.99 a piece. On top of that, these polishes took noticeably longer to dry when compared to my beloved Zoya Pixie Dusts which you can see here or even the OPI Liquid Sands. Why? Not really sure! I feel like these shades weren’t quite the in your face texture as those or the very textured options from Sally Hansen. They didn’t feel nearly as gritty & with some applications they just didn’t look as good. Here is a link to my 3rd review of the Sally Hansen Sugar Coats which contained some awesome shades for fall!
Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Femme Trouper- A fair peachy/pink neutral with fine gold shimmer throughout. 2 coats.
I definitely messed up swatching this as this was my first go. I just swatched too thick with that darn brush to begin with. You can still see the texture but not so much the shimmer sadly. Could have probably used 3 ultra thin coats.
Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Fatigue Glam- A dusty rose/mauve. 2 coats.
This was much thinner & easier to use. While a lot of people dub these types of shades “grandma colors” I found I quite liked it. This looked more textured to me as well. Very even.
Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Tough Girl- Medium grey. 2 coats.
Expectantly, this was a bit streaky. While I do like it…this shade took forever to dry & isn’t quite dried down in these photos.
Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Left, Left, Left, Right, Left- A medium bright blue. 2 coats.
This is a brightened version of the oh-so-popular Monaco Blue popping up everywhere for Fall 2013. I really like this shade a lot & I feel like you can get away with wearing it all year! I probably could have gotten away with one coat, very opaque!
Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in Beauty is a Battlefield!- An indigo leaning metallic purple. 2 coats.
I wasn’t sure about this on in the bottle but I actually don’t mind it on. For some reason it just didn’t look as textured to me but at least it wasn’t streaky after it dried! I was also pleasantly surprised with the indigo hue once on since it was definitely purple in the bottle.
Wet n Wild Textured Nail Color in ATTEN Hut!- Metallic silvered olive green with antique gold shimmer. 2 coats.
This looked a bit darker & more olive once on the nail. I love it of course, green + shimmer? Yes. Definitely my favorite from this collection. The shimmer is really pretty as it catches the light & so fall.
So there you have it, all 6 shades! I found mine at Walgreens on a specialty display for $3.99 each, I’m not sure where else they’ve been spotted.
I didn’t have any dupes in this set & it was refreshing to see both shimmers & pure colors. They wear really well as well which is why I’ve hit the textured band wagon so hard. We totally scrubbed down the kitchen with stuff that makes nail polish melt last night (real scrubbing!) & I only have one small chip. Coverup is super easy & you don’t even have to remove the shade beneath! I am excited to see is Wet n Wild comes out with more…I hope someone comes out with a holo textured shade soon! I’ll buy the heck out of that!
