For those of you who aren’t aware, I’m a crazy pet person. I love them. We don’t have kids at the moment (or for awhile off) & having pets just make our day so much brighter. October is Adopt A Shelter Dog Awareness month so how could I not participate when invited? With 4 babies from some kind of rescue type situation I was really excited to try my hand (punk full on intended) at some nail art inspired by them! I grew up with lots of different dogs & even some cats but today I wanted to talk about the four currently under our roof!
So first lets talk about my pets! The nails above are without top coat & before major cleanup by the way so the photos below are a bit better. These up close shots prior just came out better to me! I used loads of different polishes so if you want to know about any specific shades, just let me know!
Pointer finger- Gizmo was our first pet together. She was a pretty darn big deal for us newlyweds & has made all of our military moves pretty seamlessly. Honestly, it is probably because we have all the food therefore we have the power. She is definitely food motivated. We got her from a rescue & she has been super mellow ever since. She’s playful but mostly a fabulous napper & gold star eater.
Middle finger- Cobo was our 2nd pet & Ryan needed him for his life. He always wanted a Boxer so when a bunch of Boxer/Shar Pei pups needed homes he came home with us. He provided endless entertainment & is constantly the center of attention. Kind of goofy, extremely loving, & obnoxiously clumsy he is always the star of the show.
Ring finger- Sawyer is our newest pet, only had her for about a month. Ryan found her screaming in our front yard after a big storm. She was tiny so we took her in & fed her. When no one claimed her…it was honestly too late as attachments had formed. Extremely energetic & playful she is the new blood in the house.
Pinkie finger- Zeus was found by a friend who runs a rescue in California wandering the streets with a messed up front leg. Our best guess is part Poodle & part Bichon. I had actually gone over to her house to look at a new Boxer baby she had found when Zeus totally fell in love with me. He was already 4-5 & just as lovey as could be. He is constantly by my side & smiling as poodles often do.
Rather than saying “GO TO YOUR LOCAL SHELTER NOW!” I want you to realize how much love they can bring into your home. Take the time to find a breed that works with your whole family (pet finder has a great way to find out for free here) & who you’ll be able to share your time & love with. If you are interested in a certain breed not found at your local shelter I urge you to look into rescues. You’ll find rescues for about every type of animal looking for a forever home. You can find shelters near you from ASPCA here.

I really hoped you enjoyed the manicure, I had a lot of fun creating it! If you have any furry friends I’d love to hear about them & don’t forget the many other manicures below!
