Spookfest Day 23: 9021 Orange from Wet n Wild

October 24, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9224 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-23-9021-orange-from-wet-n.htmlSpookfest+Day+23%3A+9021+Orange+from+Wet+n+Wild2011-10-24+00%3A40%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-23-9021-orange-from-wet-n-wild.html

I have been very impatient about saving this. Behold: My favorite orange of the moment. Sparkly, eye-catching, almost like orange flames across my fingertips.
Perfect for Halloween yes?
This is more sheer than I’d like, but then again I don’t like to see my nail line. This is about 4 even coats. I don’t even care, totally worth it!
Direct Sunlight. No editing, it really is that blinding.

 Shade.
Check out this bottle shot where you can really see the separate particles.
 With Flash.

So what oranges have been YOUR favorite so far this month? I love love love this one even though it takes some work!

Spookfest 2011: Jessica from True Blood as Lil Red Riding Hood

October 18, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9245 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-2011-jessica-from-true-blood.htmlSpookfest+2011%3A+Jessica+from+True+Blood+as+Lil+Red+Riding+Hood2011-10-18+17%3A29%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-2011-jessica-from-true-blood-as-lil-red-riding-hood.html

If you have followed my blog for awhile, then you know I am a True Blood fanatic. No doubt about it. I started with the Sookie Stackhouse novels and then the show, which are completely different. The characters on the show are fab, and a VERY popular Halloween option these days. What caught my eye lately? Jessica (played by Deborah Ann Woll ) as Little Red Riding Hood in the season finale. Check out the clip below.
Jessica’s Blog: Little Red
Wow right? If you want to channel this look, then here’s my take on it!
Channeling Jessica from True Blood as Little Red Riding Hood
Interest Points:
-Gold/Black Smoky Eye
-Red Lips
-Glowing Pale Skin
-Defined Brows

-Long Lashes

1) I applied my face makeup as usual, although I am having some eczema issues so my skin is dryer than usual. I went with foundation I already have in a shade 1-2 lighter than my current. Use ELF HD Powder to set your look to perfection, it is super fine and makes your skin look smooth.

2) I then did my brows with my Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow pencil, 99 cents at your local drugstore. Then I used Hard Candy eye primer and let it settle in. While I waited I applied lip balm because the Milani Lip Flash Pencils can be a bit drying.

3) To begin the smoky eye, I used my Physicians Formula Gel Liner and applied to both inner and outer lids. Come up to make a point on the end. It doesn’t need to be perfect, you’ll have to touch it up at the end, but have your basics in line.

4) Your highlight shade will be the gold shade from the Wet n Wild trio “I’ve Got Good Jeans” which needs to cover from eyelashes to browbone. You can go a lot lighter than I did, I just wanted a more intense look for Halloween. If you want a lighter look, tap off the excess! These are extremely creamy and pigmented. Take this in the inner corners and bottom lashline as well.

5) I then took my Blackened Gold (for swatches of this collection click HERE) from The Body Needs. This is my favorite collection from TBN for obvious reasons, they’re gorgeous. Anyways Blackened Gold should be brought from lashline to crease, blending out and up. You don’t need a lot for the effect, it too is well pigmented and the gold and black is what you’re looking for. Also, take this in the outer corners of your lower lashline.

6) Take the MATTE black shade from the Wet N Wild 8 Color Palette in “Blue Had Me at Hello” to do a powder eyeliner. Be careful not to go all the way to your inner corner, we’ll be adding a highlight to brighten up that look next.

7) Take your favorite highlight for the inner corners. I used Almay Bright Eyes Duo in Cocoa & Pearl. Draw it on, then blend well.

8) Apply mascara as desired. I have been using my Falsies from Maybelline. I think it does a good job blending my acutal falsies and natural lashes as well. If you’re applying falsies, make sure you don’t go too heavy on this step so you can blend them better.

9) Apply your false lashes. My lash of choice lately are from KK Center and are ES 10 Pairs of Criss Cross Lashes but remember to trim your ends or you’ll end up looking crazy! For 10% off, enter the code BLGB462ST10 which will remain good until February 28th, 2012. This makes each pair of lashes around 55 cents and I reuse them. Apply mascara to both your real and false lashes to blend together. I like the criss cross ones for dramatic looks because they give me an awesome fullness to the base of my lashes. It looks a little uneven when my eyes are closed but that’s because due to a medical condition I have lost the lashes in my outer corner of that right eye. ๐Ÿ™ For the super dramatic feather lashes in my umpkinette Look from KK Center HK, CLICK HERE!

10) Apply highlighter to both cheeks and top of lips on the cupid’s bow. My choice is ELF Highlight Stick in Spotlight, a lovely pearly white. I didn’t apply blush because I already have a pink undertone.

11) Apply pencil/primer to your lips if desired. If not, directly apply Milani Lip Flash in Hot Flash. Make sure to blot at least ones or it will slide around a bit and won’t last as long.

Now you’re done!

Now you’re ready to pop in Fangs if desired!

Spookfest Day 14: Sugar Sugar from Sinful Colors + Crackle

October 14, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9251 Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-14-sugar-sugar-from.htmlSpookfest+Day+14%3A+Sugar+Sugar+from+Sinful+Colors+%2B+Crackle2011-10-14+17%3A32%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-14-sugar-sugar-from-sinful-colors-crackle.html

So if you have little ones, then you probably know its fire week. Today i wanted to rock a red mani, then add some black crackle. Just this purple toned red with glitter/shimmer looked too Christmas-y for me haha.
Here’s 2 coats of Sugar Sugar from Sinful Colors, a bit more purple than I wanted. It has tiny flecks of glitter and shimmer throughout though so I liked it anyway. I didn’t have time to pull off nail art (plus I will be covered in red paint today so…) but I thought a crackle would be nice today.

Here it is with one coat of China Glaze Crackle in Black Mesh. I think it cracked nicely today.

Spookfest Day 10: China Glaze in Tempest

October 10, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9282 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Five-been-saving-this-for-october.htmlSpookfest+Day+10%3A+China+Glaze+in+Tempest2011-10-10+18%3A37%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-10-china-glaze-in-tempest.html

So I’ve been saving this for October because in the bottle I think it looks “mystical” or something like that. Unfortunately out of the bottle, I was just plain confused.
In the Bottle: Lighter plum-type purple with a blue sheen/undertone with TINY specks barely visible of blue.
On the Nails: Bright-ish blue with a slightly purple duochrome look.
My issue isn’t necessarily with what it looks like on the nails as opposed to in the bottle, but the application. It ends up streaky for sure and kind of…frosty? Yeah I’m going with frosty. Meh. But then it totally bubbled up on me, so sorry about that.

I still think its a lovely shade, just not what I was expecting! I do like that it kind of matches my new background though haha.

Spookfest Day 9: Bumbling Bee Stripes Manicure + Fab It Up

October 9, 2011 By StephanieLouise 929Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-9-bumbling-bee.htmlSpookfest+Day+9%3A+Bumbling+Bee+Stripes+Manicure+%2B+Fab+It+Up2011-10-09+21%3A30%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-9-bumbling-bee-stripes-manicure-fab-it-up.html

So honestly, I just felt like painting my nails like a bumble bee today for my Spookfest 2011 series. I went as a bee a few years back and had a blast, so it makes me happy to think about it! Anyway….I still see tons of bee costumes (although much more….uh….tiny than the one I wore?) so here it goes!

For a base coat I used Sinful Colors in Snow Me White. You don’t HAVE to use a white base, but I always do when I use a non-metallic yellow. That is pretty much all the time by the way, I’ve never found a shimmer/glitter/metallic yellow I’m all that fond of. The yellow is from the Color Club and I believe is called Almost Famous if memory serves right…. Don’t quote me though, the sticker is gone. Any bright (not fluorescent) yellow will do! I also like Icing from Claire’s Nail Polish in Butta but Color Club is higher quality so it takes less coats. The black is my standby from LA Colors in Black Velvet, which you guys have been seeing an abundance of lately.Finishing it off is Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine Top Coat to give it a bit more oomph.
So to create this look I used french tip stickers, which I pretty much never use for french tips. You can also use tape, but that is always really hard to photograph for you guys. You can see in this quick snapshot how I put them on a bit differently and a couple of my nails were already painted with the black. Easy. Simple. Bit more difficult because I’m dog sitting this weekend though, so I had lots of helpers. I’m hoping you can read into the sarcasm there.

So I thought I would show you guys how I would wear my nails if I went as a bee this year! I added some jewels to one side to give some bling since the rest of the colors aren’t shimmery whatsoever. I think it turned out cute and fun. It’d catch your eye, which is usually my goal for Halloween nails!

What do you guys think? FYI my husband told me I had Transformer nails today. What a geek! haha

Spookfest Day 8: The Devil Within Manicure

October 8, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9305 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-8-devil-within-manicure.htmlSpookfest+Day+8%3A+The+Devil+Within+Manicure2011-10-08+21%3A32%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-8-the-devil-within-manicure.html

 Feeling Devious?

After a VERY long week, this was just the manicure I needed! Using my new LA Colors Art Deco color in 24K Glitter (comparison between 24K and Gold Glitter from LA Colors coming soon!) I made flames along my nail bed and tips of my accent nails.

Using my in Kiss Nail Art Paint in Black I created the two decorations, one on my thumb and the other on my ring finger. What brings it all together is the incredible red base. My Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Runway Red-y and it is fabulous. Wonderful formula and a stunning shade, it has beat out my OPI reds as my favorite!

Spookfest Day 6: Black with Red & Gold Tips

October 7, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9321 Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-6-black-with-red-gold.htmlSpookfest+Day+6%3A+Black+with+Red+%26+Gold+Tips2011-10-07+02%3A39%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-6-black-with-red-gold-tips.html

Today was NOT my day. I needed a simple mani but none of the colors called to me, so here’s what I did before running out the door to work!

Base is LA Colors in Black Velvet. Gold glitter stripe is LA Colors Art Deco in Gold Glitter. Red is Sinful Colors in GoGo Girl, which obviously isn’t true to color because of the black! Tomorrow it will be because I’m using it for a gruesome look ๐Ÿ˜‰

Spookfest Day 4: Sparkly Bright Green over Black on Black

October 5, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9351 Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-4-sparkly-bright-green.htmlSpookfest+Day+4%3A+Sparkly+Bright+Green+over+Black+on+Black2011-10-05+00%3A19%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-4-sparkly-bright-green-over-black-on-black.html

Taking a break from my nail art, I went with some serious glitz. This is Sinful Colors in Call You Later with Sinful Colors in Black on Black as the base. Fabulously mysterious, green, & intensely glittery.  I wouldn’t ever wear Call You Later alone as it would probably take many coats to cover my nail line, but as a top coat? Perfection, especially for a Halloween look!

Sinful Colors in Call You Later is a clear base with a heavy dose of golden microglitter & slightly larger green glitter. Love it! So different! This is one medium coat of Call You Later over 1 coat of Black on Black.

I picked this up at Walgreens for $1.99, definitely worth the money. I wish they made something like this in every color, I’d seriously buy them all!

Spookfest Day 3: Lime & Hot Pink Bow Tips Nail Art

October 4, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9363 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-3-lime-hot-pink-bow-tips.htmlSpookfest+Day+3%3A+Lime+%26+Hot+Pink+Bow+Tips+Nail+Art2011-10-04+02%3A17%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-3-lime-hot-pink-bow-tips-nail-art.html

So I fully apologize for the uncleaned up mani, I did it right before work! Anyways, the bows are awesome I think. I’d wear this year round, but I thought it’d be fun for girly gals who want to at some visual interest to jet black nails this holiday. What do you guys think?
I used LA Colors Art Deco Polishes in Mint Green & Intense Pink, both perfect over my base of Sinful Colors in Black on Black. I won this polish recently and its a great black! I’ve used it previously and am always impressed with both the shine and that in 1 medium coat I can achieve this type of opacity.
To recreate this look, I recommend doing the outer triangles FIRST then doing your middle dot to connect the bow entirely. This is much easier than the other way around!
Wondering why my thumb is still Frankensteined? Because the kids in my class had to see it of course! They loved it by the way!
If YOU recreate this look or any others, please send me a picture either on
twitter, posting to my facebook wall,
or e-mailing it to Stephanie-louise@live.com

Later on this month I will be posting my viewer variations and linking back to blogs if you have them!

XOXOXO
