So I thought I would show you guys how I would wear my nails if I went as a bee this year! I added some jewels to one side to give some bling since the rest of the colors aren’t shimmery whatsoever. I think it turned out cute and fun. It’d catch your eye, which is usually my goal for Halloween nails!
Spookfest Day 9: Bumbling Bee Stripes Manicure + Fab It Up
So honestly, I just felt like painting my nails like a bumble bee today for my Spookfest 2011 series. I went as a bee a few years back and had a blast, so it makes me happy to think about it! Anyway….I still see tons of bee costumes (although much more….uh….tiny than the one I wore?) so here it goes!
For a base coat I used Sinful Colors in Snow Me White. You don’t HAVE to use a white base, but I always do when I use a non-metallic yellow. That is pretty much all the time by the way, I’ve never found a shimmer/glitter/metallic yellow I’m all that fond of. The yellow is from the Color Club and I believe is called Almost Famous if memory serves right…. Don’t quote me though, the sticker is gone. Any bright (not fluorescent) yellow will do! I also like Icing from Claire’s Nail Polish in Butta but Color Club is higher quality so it takes less coats. The black is my standby from LA Colors in Black Velvet, which you guys have been seeing an abundance of lately.Finishing it off is Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine Top Coat to give it a bit more oomph.
So to create this look I used french tip stickers, which I pretty much never use for french tips. You can also use tape, but that is always really hard to photograph for you guys. You can see in this quick snapshot how I put them on a bit differently and a couple of my nails were already painted with the black. Easy. Simple. Bit more difficult because I’m dog sitting this weekend though, so I had lots of helpers. I’m hoping you can read into the sarcasm there.
What do you guys think? FYI my husband told me I had Transformer nails today. What a geek! haha
