Nails: OPI Tangled in the Tinsel Exclusive Polish Swatches + Review + Dupe!

December 1, 2012 By StephanieLouise 635Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F12%2Fnails-opi-tangled-in-tinsel-exclusive.htmlNails%3A+OPI+Tangled+in+the+Tinsel+Exclusive+Polish+Swatches+%2B+Review+%2B+Dupe%212012-12-01+15%3A22%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F12%2Fnails-opi-tangled-in-the-tinsel-exclusive-polish-swatches-review-dupe.html

I totally stumbled onto this find…seriously. For the first time since we moved here, I had to go into a Sephora store to redeem something & there is only one within many many miles. Well…we got there & they were still closed for 2 more hours! While driving around this new area a store called to me called Beauty Brands. I’ve never heard of it before (ever) & apparently I’m not the only one because I asked you guys on twitter/instagram.

I expected it to be like some of beloved beauty supply stores that are kind of cruddy with great finds but this was simply not the case. Beauty Brands is absolutely lovely inside & also contained a salon. They carried lots of amazing brands including theBalm, Deborah Lippman, & many more!

As I walked around I checked everything out & although they had lots of great things, I ended up with one OPI polish that was on a special display called Tangled in the Tinsel. It was only $4.98! I thought maybe it was their way of getting rid of past stock but no! It is a shade exclusive to Beauty Brands which is why I haven’t heard of it!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Tangled in the Tinsel by OPI: A tinted grey base packed with silver & charcoal micro glitters that are very dense with the additional of scattered rainbow small glitters. I used only one coat! No top coat. It doesn’t dry glossy but it has a nice shine to it!

I adore this shade & am so sad to remove it today. I’ve been wearing it for 5 days with only one chip on my right ring finger! I don’t cover OPI much anymore but this reminded me why I love them so much. My nails normally chip in day 1-3 so this was lovely! But it is preventing me from swatching more shades for you guys so it has to go! My favorite thing about this polish is that you don’t get big hits of the rainbow glitter so it is more wearable. It would flash here & there & I found myself smiling all the first day!

Although I don’t have anything like this in my collection, another blogger did! According to The Daily Varnish, many of the Beauty Brands exclusive shades are recycled shades & this one (again I can’t confirm because I don’t own the other one) is from the Nicole by OPI collection & is called Follow Me on Glitter. I couldn’t really see the comparison that well in her photo so I headed over to the lovely PolishAholic’s blog who always catches the light juuust right! The one difference I do notice is that she had to use 3 coats while I only needed one!

China Glaze Glistening Snow & Angel Wings Holo Swatches + Review

November 29, 2012 By StephanieLouise 637Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fchina-glaze-glistening-snow-angel-wings.htmlChina+Glaze+Glistening+Snow+%26+Angel+Wings+Holo+Swatches+%2B+Review2012-11-29+21%3A44%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fchina-glaze-glistening-snow-angel-wings-holo-swatches-review.html

Photobucket

When I saw the China Glaze holiday collection, I knew the gold & silvers had to be mine. I’m constantly searching for the perfect ones & these are absolutely lovely. Prepare yourself for lots of pictures!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Here it is pre-top coat. More on the texture below!

Photobucket

Glistening Snow: A cool toned silver glitter with scattered holographic polish. Extremely fine, but still gritty glitter so it isn’t a shimmer. Opaque in 2-3 coats.

Photobucket
Angel Wings: A slightly antiqued gold glitter with scattered holographic polish. Extremely fine, but still gritty glitter so it isn’t a shimmer. Opaque in 2-3 coats.

Photobucket

These are just phenomenal. I love that they are both GLITTER that you can feel & layer, not straight holos that don’t have a color of their own. They do dry quite gritty so I used 2 coats of Out the Door top coat over top. Once you add a top coat, they are even more impressive in the holo department. I hope I captured how amazing these are but honestly, you have to wear these in sunlight in person to see how truly necessary they are. Brava China Glaze.

Because these are part of the China Glaze Holiday collection, I recommend snapping thse up quick before they go away! I bought mine at my local Sally Beauty Supply.

Do you own Angel Wings or Glistening Snow? What are some of your favorite holos?

Photobucket

So as I hear Christmas music playing & switching out my Fall candles for holiday ones…I know it is time to show you guys one of my absolute favorite Fall shades. Two Cents from Sonia Kashuk is incredible & fulfills my lust for copper.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket
Two Cents from Sonia Kashuk: A rich metallic copper with a slight golden bronze tone in sunlight. Opaque in 2 coats.

This is love. Copper fire. Copper polishes were so in this year & being on of my favorite shades period I was psyched. But SO many of them were silver toned, too bronze. This is just right, not too red or too orange. True copper. This is a limited edition shade available from Target.

What do you guys think? Love it? What were some of your favorite shades this Fall?

SoFlaJo Hidden Gem (from The Party Time Collection): A steel blue packed with rainbow ultra fine holo, blue shimmer, & green shimmer. This has a teal aura about it in certain lights around the base. Opaque in 2 easy coats.

I love this polish! This looks so mysterious & even somewhat ethereal on the nail. This is a nice density which I prefer. The 2 coats were easy to achieve without dragging. This reminds me of ice skating at midnight with lots of twinkling lights in the distance & sparkling snow. This screams winter to me!

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Swatches in Moonstone & Firefly (FINALLY!)

November 13, 2012 By StephanieLouise 657Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shin-swatches-in.htmlSally+Hansen+Lustre+Shine+Swatches+in+Moonstone+%26+Firefly+%28FINALLY%21%292012-11-13+13%3A37%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-swatches-in-moonstone-firefly-finally.html

Photobucket

Let me start off with I am SO sorry these took so long! I have been backing up & transferring everything off my computer & totally lost all of these photos. I’ve been working so hard to find them & FINALLY I did! Normally these have their own posts, but because I took so long here are the last 2 together! No more waiting! If you missed my other swatches, I will have them linked below!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Moonstone: A white peal that leans purple, green, pink, & blue. Not heavily duochromed but most visible in the shade.

I have this swatched over black except on my ring finger where it is on its own. I do not recommend wearing it on its own if you like opacity, it took 5-6 coats! Over black, I used 3 to really get the white effect. You can get a neat effect with just one although I don’t find it super original.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Firefly: This shifts from a golden mauve, a green leaning turquoise, a pale golden green, with the main color being a pink toned bronze.

I love this shade! This also was definitely one of the easiest Lustre Shine polishes to apply. Seen here in 4 thin coats, no base shade. Love this shift & it is more apparent on the nail than in the bottle. Check it out with my cheetah print over it, gorg right?

So there you have it! If you missed any of my prior swatches here they are!: Lava, Scarab, Copperhead, & Plume. Here are the bottle shots of all 6 as well so you can compare them!

I still think these are pricey, even for duochromes. Do I regret paying the hefty price tag? Maybe a tad because I don’t see myself wearing a few of them. But that’s how it goes! I would have paid even more for Lava so it is totally worth it! I also love Scarab…perfect mermaid shade!

Did you end up purchasing any of the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Collection? Would you like to see them release more?

NEW Pure Ice Nail Polish Bottle Shots (16 of them, PIC HEAVY!)

November 7, 2012 By StephanieLouise 662Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fnew-pure-ice-nail-polish-bottle-shots.htmlNEW+Pure+Ice+Nail+Polish+Bottle+Shots+%2816+of+them%2C+PIC+HEAVY%21%292012-11-07+13%3A50%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fnew-pure-ice-nail-polish-bottle-shots-16-of-them-pic-heavy.html

Photobucket

While I may not have gotten every single new Pure Ice nail polish…I did get quite a few! I tried to grab shades that looks really original & unlike things I already own. The majority are clearly glitters (it IS me!) but I think they are going to be amazing for layering, especially with jellies. Many of these have diamond shaped glitter which I totally love! For only $1.99, these are a total steal. Enough chit chat, let’s do this!

NOTE: One of these polishes didn’t get a shot taken of it 🙁 It is called Royal Flush & it is similar to Temptress. You can see it in the first photo! It has a lot more shimmer. Also similar to Are Mermaids Real? from Sinful Colors but more pigmented & darker.

Photobucket
Stop Flirtin: A light blue small hex glitter with larger silver hex glitter in a clear base.
Photobucket

Meet Me in Monaco: A sheer black base with light peach & faded orange hexes ranging from small to medium.

Photobucket

After Hours: An indigo & bright blue small hex glitter with larger silver hex glitters in a clear base.

Photobucket

Cha-Ching: A hot pink shimmer which can be used as a top coat or on its own.

Photobucket

Tinsel Town: Bright blue tiny hex glitter with light blue & silver holographic diamonds in a clear base.

Photobucket

Alter Ego: A shimmering metallic chocolate brown with gray glass flecks.

Photobucket
Get on Top: Mini light blue hex glitter with medium silver hex glitter in a clear base.

Photobucket

Material Girl: Mini soft pink hex glitter with light pink & silver holo diamonds in a clear base.

Photobucket

Hot-Rocks: Silver scattered shimmer with small silver hex glitters & silver holo diamonds in a clear base.

Photobucket

Sea-Quin: Light lime green/chartreuse green mini glitter with light green holo diamonds in a clear base.

Photobucket

Call Me!: Orange mini hex glitter with medium silver hex glitter in a clear base.

Photobucket

Vegas Strip: A light green with a bit of lime flash composed of shimmer. Can be worn on its own or as a top coat.

Photobucket

Turn It Up: A perfect medium green mini hex glitter with medium silver hex glitter in a clear base.

Photobucket

Temptress: A very dusty purple with an antique gold shimmer.

Photobucket

Treasure Hunt: A light seafoam green mini hex glitter with lavender & pale turquoise holo diamond glitter in a clear base.

Mine were somewhat picked over, but I think I got a lot of winners here! I found them on their own display at Walmart & like I said, only $1.99 each. I am SO impressed & I can’t wait to show you swatches! Any you want to see first? Any shades especially catch your eye?

JulieG Holiday Swatches Under Mistletoe & Light It Up!

November 1, 2012 By StephanieLouise 666Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fjulieg-holiday-swatches-under-mistletoe.htmlJulieG+Holiday+Swatches+Under+Mistletoe+%26+Light+It+Up%212012-11-01+18%3A11%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F11%2Fjulieg-holiday-swatches-under-mistletoe-light-it-up.html

Photobucket

I don’t have easy access to Jesse’s Girl here in Nebraska but I’ve recently had the opportunity to try some out. I wouldn’t have been able to create my Drugstore Mermaid Tutorial without the Eye Dust & I was massively impressed with the shade Crush from Jesse’s Girl when I did my tribal manicure. I’ve also been wearing the JulieG polish in Peep Toe Pumps on my toes for the past 2-3 weeks…love! When the new JulieG holiday collection started popping up, there were 2 shades I knew I instantly had to have.

Photobucket
Photobucket

JulieG Nail Polish in Under Mistletoe: This is a shimmery dark green that leans a touch blue with a golden shimmer. This isn’t a super dense shimmer & it applies a bit sheer. Seen here is 2 coats but I could have used 3. I love this color & although it reminds me of the holiday season it isn’t my standard mistletoe green.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Julie G Nail Polish in Light It Up: A multi-colored mix of small & medium hex glitters suspended in a clear base. The shades aren’t super bright or in your face, each one is a bit toned down & almost cool toned. This looks like a near dupe for OPI’s Rainbow Connection! IN LOVE! I love this mix of shades, so perfect! Although this shade doesn’t scream holiday, I prefer it to many of the holiday glitters I’ve seen. This one is definitely perfect for year round wear! This is dense, you see it here just lightly brushed as a slight gradient on my tips over Under Mistletoe.

You can pick these up on the Jesse’s Girl website & at Rite Aid. JulieG sells for $3.99 for a 0.35 fl oz (10 mL) bottle.

Causes: My Pink Polishes Purchased in October + Swatches!

October 31, 2012 By StephanieLouise 667Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fcauses-my-pink-polishes-purchased-in.htmlCauses%3A+My+Pink+Polishes+Purchased+in+October+%2B+Swatches%212012-10-31+15%3A56%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fcauses-my-pink-polishes-purchased-in-october-swatches.html

Photobucket

To close out one of my favorite months of the year, I thought  I’d show you the “Pink Awareness” polishes I picked up! Pink isn’t a big color for me so I don’t go too wild but I do really like the ones I got this year! This is also my first mani since chopping my nails in quite awhile! I also got a request to shape them square so there you go! I probably won’t keep them square because they feel odd but they look better than I remember!

Photobucket

I found this Seche Duo including one Seche Vite polish & one China Glaze polish in Naked. The purchase went to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure & also included this cute little heart keychain. I believe Naked is a new polish correct?

Photobucket

This trio is from a new brand to this blog called Dr.’s Remedy. I was pleasantly surprised! These polishes contain Tea Tree Oil, Vitamins, & Wheat Protein. These applied really nicely but Hopeful was the standout. This only took 2 coats & tried super fast. Both Nurture & Purity run more sheer, especially Purity! I couldn’t even swatch it because it is one of those “my nails but better” type shades..& my nails got stained like crazy only yesterday…so no go. Nurture is swatched below though although you can’t quite see the lovely pink flash!

Photobucket

Last up is my Nails by Laura polish in Know Hope which I bought awhile back. I swatched it this last week (see the swatches, they’re pretty fun!) & am still in love. I wore this for about 5 days & had strangers grabbing my hands telling me how pretty it was & asking about it. This is extremely limited (only 300 bottles will ever be created!) so if you want it, grab it while you can!

Photobucket

Here they all are swatched with my index finger being a mix of China Glaze Naked + Dr.’s Remedy in Hopeful then a fabulous top coat of Know Hope. My middle finger is Dr.’s Remedy in Nurture, ring finer is Dr.’s Remedy in Hopeful, & my pinky is China Glaze in Naked. All of them were topped off with the Seche Vite from the duo pack.

Photobucket

What do you think of these shades? Did you pick any pink polishes up for Breast Cancer Awareness month? What is your favorite pink?

*The Dr.’s Remedy polishes were provided in consideration of review. Everything else was purchased by myself. All opinions are my own.

Nails by Laura Limited Edition Charity Polish in Know Hope Swatches + Review

October 27, 2012 By StephanieLouise 669Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fnails-by-laura-limited-edition-charity.htmlNails+by+Laura+Limited+Edition+Charity+Polish+in+Know+Hope+Swatches+%2B+Review2012-10-27+14%3A55%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fnails-by-laura-limited-edition-charity-polish-in-know-hope-swatches-review.html

Photobucket

I love pink glitter so when Laura came up with another charity polish (her previous was Dani-Mite) I knew I was in. Know Hope from Nails by Laura on Etsy is a kaleidoscope of pink glitter & holo shimmers within a clear base. It is spectacular, even coming from someone who isn’t usually drawn to pinks. I paid my $10 & patiently awaited it in the mail, along with my custom polish “This is Halloween” which I have already swatched. & adore. Seriously.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Learn some more from Laura herself about Know Hope:
“Due to the success of Dani-Mite, our charity polish with 50% of the proceeds going to the National Brain Tumor Society (linked below, never to be made again!), I’ve decided to do another Charity Polish for Breast Cancer Awareness!

My mother is a survivor, and just about everyone I know or meet has lost someone or been affected by breast cancer- and I know it’s rare to hear from a person who can’t say the same! So this Cause will be near and dear to me and mine.

“Know Hope” is a sparkly, pink polish made up of about 8 different glitters in various sizes and shades of PINK, of course! Like DaniMite, it will be a Limited Edition polish but with 300 made. I want (to) raise money and awareness, and I want to do it on a larger scale this time!! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so get your bottle today! Each bottle will be labeled as Limited Edition- 1/300, 2/300, etc.

50% of each bottle sold ($5) will go Living Beyond Breast Cancer http://www.lbbc.org/
Even if you don’t want a bottle, I encourage you to go to their site and make a donation!”

Photobucket

Photobucket
Photobucket

Know Hope from Nails by Laura:  This is a fabulous mix of pinks ranging from raspberry to hot pink to the palest of pinks. With a touch of holo micro glitter, this really has a mind of its own. Some metallic, some satin, & some flat glitters mainly in the medium-small range. There are also a few large glitters thrown in all suspended in a clear base. Most are hexes but there are a few small squares.

One of my favorite things about the Nails by Laura glitter polishes is that I can’t imagine running out. They are totally packed with glitter & because I tend to layer I often only need one coat. These glitters laid nice & flat & I think looked pretty cool on the tips of the black matte. Bit more fun I think!

You can find this polish in the Nails by Laura Etsy shop, but it is indeed limited edition! You’ll not the 10/300 on my bottle AKA this is #10 of the 300 maximum she is producing. This is by far the most unique pink glitter I’ve ever owned, nothing else in my vast collection even comes close. She works with quite a few satin glitters in her creations which you rarely see in other venues.

What do you think of my pink glitter tips? Are you feeling this polish? Have you picked up any awesome charity polishes this mont?
