Zoya Ornate Collection for Winter 2012-2013 Swatches + Review (Pic Heavy!)

October 23, 2012 By StephanieLouise 672Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fzoya-ornate-collection-for-winter-2012.htmlZoya+Ornate+Collection+for+Winter+2012-2013+Swatches+%2B+Review+%28Pic+Heavy%21%292012-10-23+20%3A34%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fzoya-ornate-collection-for-winter-2012-2013-swatches-review-pic-heavy.html

So if you saw the Zoya Ornate bottle shots yesterday, then you know these polishes are all stunners. Every shade has me excited, even the gold shade which usually seems like a “holiday add in” type of shade. Zoya took this collection & made it completely their own. & it shows. Impressive. Really stunning. & original. I bow down to the Zoya fairies. Brava!

Photobucket
Photobucket

PhotobucketBlaze: Described as a “cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter” this seems to look a bit different on me than some other bloggers. The holo effect almost leans a bit purple in lower lighting which I think is so cool! This is a different shade, like a bright red berry. I think this is a nice take on a holiday-ish red. Smooth in 2 coats.

Photobucket

Logan: I heart Logan, seriously. Being that this is a “yellow-toned forest green with dense, foil-like yellow-gold and blue-green duochrome shimmer!” it isn’t a surprise it it definitely a favorite. I LOVE greens, especially this time of year & this one blows many other out of the water. This isn’t your average green. The golden hue almost looks kind of lime-y in certain lights & here & there you catch kind of a blue/turquoise flash. Stunning. 2 coats of perfection.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Electra: In my opinion, bar glitters are hit & miss. This “micro fine diamond holographic glitter mixed with large silver holographic bar tinsel” has totally stolen my heart though! This lays flat (yay!) & throws off a LOT of holo-ness! Plus, this bottle is packed to the brim. I have a feeling this will last a long time evern if I use it frequently because it is so dense. Above is only ONE COAT! Granted, it is a medium coat but still! Above it is over Ziv then Aurora. I felt like I was rocking tinsel directly on my nails!

Photobucket
Photobucket

Ziv: I’m the first to admit I don’t go out of my way to buy golds & silvers, I often feel like there isn’t anything special about them. Ziv does NOT fall into that category. This “yellow-toned metallic gold foil with silver highlights and warm gold flake glitter accents” burst all my expectations. The yellow-toned base is gorgeous but the true gold flakies just takes it to the highest level. Perfect in 2 coats, can’t wait to wear this as an accent or on my tips!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Storm: This is a really unique shade even though I feel like it might be overlooked. Zoya says this is a “holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter” shade. While I agree with the great holo part, this one has kind of a jelly texture! You can see I wasn’t expecting that on my middle finger at the cuticles but left it so you could see that it is indeed jelly-ish! Yum! This looks like a night sky full of sparkling stars. Shown here is 2 coats.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Photobucket

Aurora: I do play favorites & Aurora is it. described as a “medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter” by Zoya, it is pretty impossible to not fall in love. I actually think they absolutely nailed to color description, definitely a red based sugarplum purple with a VERY high concentration of holo beauty. I used 2 coats but might go 3 next time because there was a bit of VNL.Like many of the others, this looked really sheer on the first coat but quickly built up opacity.

This collection has everything I never knew I wanted. Holo, bar glitter, duochrome, metallic, & full of holiday glitz. They managed to include your average holiday shades (rad, green, silver, gold…) but put a unique spin on each one so that they are perfect fr the holiday season but wearable for the rest of the year. Clearly, my stand out is Aurora. Not only is she my most favorite princess (fact) but this polish is packed the brim with hollow…& fabulousness.

Aurora is sparkling sugarplums dancing in my head. Electra makes me think of a new package of tinsel. Logan of fresh pine trees showered in golden lights. Blaze a roaring fire crackling with light. Ziv the golden bow atop your favorite gift. Storm is the night sky beginning to flurry. This collection is timeless & a must have. I haven’t been this excited about an entire collection in ages, I honestly can’t even remember the last time I fell in love with every shade. Zoya Fairies, thank you for the greatest winter gift!

You can purchase this collection now from Zoya’s website for $8.00 per polish. Which shades catch your eye the most?

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Plume Swatches & Review

October 7, 2012 By StephanieLouise 687Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-in-plume.htmlSally+Hansen+Lustre+Shine+in+Plume+Swatches+%26+Review2012-10-07+18%3A57%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-in-plume-swatches-review.html

So with all the Chanel Peridot dupes roaming around, the promo shots of Plume from the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine collection had people talking. Is it a dupe? Nope. But it is ultra pretty. Check out the shots below!

While this isn’t a dupe, it is really fun to wear. This has a strong antique bronze shade while the edges go this great olive shade. There’s also quite a bit of gold in there. This flashes really easily & shifts beautifully.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

If you don’t have tons of similar shades already, definitely pick this one up. This applies super smoothe & even, something not all of the similar shades I have.

Are you feeling this shade? Don’t forget to check out Lava, Copperhead, & Scarab! Moonstone & Firefly will be up soon! Here’s my shots of all six shades as well!

Boooo-ty Blog Coalition Halloween Link Up: This is Halloween by NbL Swatches + Review

For my first link up, I decided to push back my makeup tutorial to show you this awesome polish that I custom made with Laura of Nails by Laura on Etsy. She loves doing custom orders & I adore Halloween so this was a match made in Halloween heaven! I picked out the shades & ideas BUT I didn’t really get to know what it looked like until it arrived! She did an amazing job, it is even better than I imagined!

This is Halloween from Nails by Laura (custom order): A clear base packed with dense black glitter medium hexes, medium green hexes, & mini + small neon orange hexes. There is also a healthy dose of silver holo in there! Seen here in 1 coat.

I just, I love it. I haven’t seen anything like it at all. I wanted something different with a bit of funk to it. Plus, she knows me oh so well so when she suggested holo added she knew I would never ever say no. Ever. Holo hair? I’d go there. I love that the neon orange hexes aren’t your typical pumpkin shade, definitely unlike any other Halloween polishes I’ve seen.

My only issue with this polish is finding the perfect base. I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Stonewall here which is a slightly warm/lilac gray. I thought it would be just the right amount of Halloween randomness because white just didn’t seem as fun & black wouldn’t show off the black shimmers. I think I’ll try it over a light orange, red, & maybe a navy next!

What do you think? Are you digging my creation & its originality? I bought this for only $10 off her shop on Etsy & it will last me a seriously long time, her bottles are way generous. The brushes work nicely as well! On a fun note, I’m wearing this to the zoo today for our anniversary, we’ve been married 4 years now! Wowie, I’m getting old!

Nail Challenge Day #16: My Orange Tribal Freehand

October 4, 2012 By StephanieLouise 689Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fnail-challenge-day-16-my-orange-tribal.htmlNail+Challenge+Day+%2316%3A+My+Orange+Tribal+Freehand2012-10-04+18%3A03%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fnail-challenge-day-16-my-orange-tribal-freehand.html

Photobucket

As it turns out…I’m not very good at tribal designs. I honestly had never even thought to do one & just kind of sat down & did this without a plan. I did 2 coats of Crush from Jesse’s Girl then did a slightly darker orange stripe for each nail in Tangerine from Diamond Cosmetics. My black & white are both LA Colors stripers, nothing out of the ordinary.

Photobucket

I thought the 2 oranges gave it something interesting, honestly I just really wanted to swatch Crush. I got 6 Jesse’s Girl nail polishes in the mail & I thought orange would be fun. I instagramed them yesterday (follow me! StephanieLouiseATB) along with oh ya know all kinds of other things. Then I went to town with the black & white. Boom. End result.

So I had a few questions bout Challenge #15 which was “Delicate Print” that you guys noticed I missed. Yes, yes I did. Unfortunately I didn’t plan ahead & my husband pinned (moved up rank) that day so I had on a basic nail. I did put a delicate print over it that night to do a post but I didn’t think it looked all that good. I feel like I’m in a slump with these challenges because tribal definitely wasn’t my best! Delicate…very few nail looks I put up can ever be mistaken as a delicate print. HOWEVER, if you guys DO want to see it, I will definitely put it up in a post just for you.

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Copperhead Swatches + Review!

October 3, 2012 By StephanieLouise 691Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-in-copperhead.htmlSally+Hansen+Lustre+Shine+in+Copperhead+Swatches+%2B+Review%212012-10-03+16%3A23%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-in-copperhead-swatches-review.html

I’m so sorry I’m so behind with all my Lustre Shine swatches, I’ve had a really terrible time with my computer lately. Expect to be spammed with them all ASAP! This is my LEAST favorite of the bunch, read on to find out why!

Is this pretty in the bottle? You bet. It might not be my favorite in the bottle, but it is pretty. It has these gorgeous green/purple metallic veins running through it that I was able to capture here & there. My issue? Well, check it out on the nail…

Photobucket
Photobucket
Copperhead Sally Hansen Lustre Shine: A somewhat metallic copper with pink & bronze tones. Applies as more of a metallic but with little to no visible shift. Seen here is 2 even coats of easy application.

See what I mean? It is pretty, but I really think it is a dud compared to the rest of the Lustre Shines if you’re looking for a color shift. As far as bronzed coppers go, pretty, really it is. But as far as compared to Lava or Scarab, pssshhh puh-lease.

What do you think? Is this pretty enough for you to pay the heavy price tag? (More on the other shades & bottles shots + prices can be found on a prior post!) Is this a color that you love or is this one to pass on?

Nail Challenge Day #14: Darkened Abstract Purple Flowers Nail Art

I’m the first to admit: I’m not big into flowery/lacey/extra girly designs. If I do pink, it is often with black. So when I saw the next challenge was flowers, my heart sank a bit. I had just stamped…I didn’t want to stamp again! So instead I went with freehanding some art…& I kind of love it.

Now, it didn’t say it had to be girly so I went a bit dark & abstract. I love the effect. The bottom corner has some black, then the deep, red based purple, & the holo around the edges of the petals. What do you think? Are you loving it or do you prefer something a bit more feminine?

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Scarab Swatches + Review!

September 26, 2012 By StephanieLouise 699Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-in-scarab.htmlSally+Hansen+Lustre+Shine+in+Scarab+Swatches+%2B+Review%212012-09-26+13%3A26%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-in-scarab-swatches-review.html

Photobucket

When I posted the bottle shots of the 6 Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polishes, I got asked which one is my favorite & then posted about my #1 Lava. I think it is above Scarab for only the pure reason that I have nothing like it. A pink/orange shift? Nope.  However Scarab…is beautiful. & I’ll probably find myself wearing it more often!

I think this type of shift is more common, but it is still glorious. I love me some teal shift. & although it isn’t an intensely in your face type of shift, it is visible. The best place to look is where my nail rounds, it is indeed darker on the sides.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Photobucket
It looks nice & dark around the edges & bright where the light hits. Love it. Absolutely love it. When it comes TO nail polish, I definitely do play favorites & many of them happen to be teal. This was 2 coats of perfection, super easy to apply.

What do you think of Scarab? Are you feeling it more than Lava or is this looking like a dupe of something else?

Nail Challenge Day #13: Cheetah Print Nails with Firefly Lustre Shine

September 25, 2012 By StephanieLouise 701Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fnail-challenge-day-13-cheetah-print.htmlNail+Challenge+Day+%2313%3A+Cheetah+Print+Nails+with+Firefly+Lustre+Shine2012-09-25+18%3A23%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fnail-challenge-day-13-cheetah-print-nails-with-firefly-lustre-shine.html

Photobucket

So I actually had plans to do something completely different…but it didn’t work out ๐Ÿ™ My backup plan was this manicure which I believe is cheetah print (because the spots are only one color? right?) I love this, like, a lot.
This is a black base with Sally Hansen Lustre Shine coat over it which applied nice & even. On top of that I used a Red Angel stamping plate in RA-107. I bought these plates awhile back but totally fell out of stamping. I think I over-stamped myself.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I am not a big fan of these plates when it comes to full nail designs. I have pretty narrow nails compared to most & they are quite small & short. Boo on that. Guess I need some plates that are bigger eh? Please keep in mind that these photos aren’t super color-accurate for Firefly. I have accurate swatches coming up of this shade so that you can see the pink & the black base changes a bit as well.  I did, however, want you to see how cool the shifting colors look beneath the stamp. Sweet right!

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Nail Polish in Lava

September 24, 2012 By StephanieLouise 703Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-nail-polish.htmlSally+Hansen+Lustre+Shine+Nail+Polish+in+Lava2012-09-24+16%3A18%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fsally-hansen-lustre-shine-nail-polish-in-lava.html

Photobucket

When I posted the bottle shots of the 6 Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polishes, I got asked which one is my favorite. It is honestly kind of a tie between Lava & the next polish I will post, but this one photographs the best! How gorgeous is this polish? & just in time for Fall!
If you love the idea of these shades, I think you’ll love this one.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket

PhotobucketSally Hansen Lustre Shine in Lava: A micro glitter that tends to lean a red toned pink with a violet shimmer & goes golden orange/golden yellow. This one looks somewhat metallic far away with a dense duochrome. Flashes of hot pink, violet, & orange.

This one is made up of a micro glitter mixture which makes it kind of hard to clean up. That is the main difference between this & the other shades as none of the rest are like this. I worried that maybe this would be super sheer because of the glitter so I applied black to my ring finger. With three coats on bare fingers, however, it’s completely opaque. Over the black, it just leans a bit more violet.

I guess you guys can tell that these aren’t my best swatches ever, I’m sorry. These are REALLY hard to capture, from lighting to just the overall curve of the nail. Obviously they look better in person but this is as good as I could get them & I hope you can see how pretty this polish is!

What do you think of this one? Loving it or leaving it? What do YOU think my 2nd favorite is?
