I’ve really been missing sharing my favorites! As some of you may remember, I used to post youtube videos. Then I stopped. I’m still getting ready to get back into videos & I’m hoping to be ready for 2017! In the meantime I’ve really wanted to start sharing my favorites again. I’ve done lots of reviews & tutorials lately but favorites let me share updates & seasonal discoveries. I have a ton because I have finally started feeling more like myself this month! Keep reading to check them out!
First up, let’s talk some basics! As you may have seen on social media, I’ve been dyeing my hair some fun colors. With that comes a bit of damage & lots of fading but I’ve been combating that a bit with White Sands The Cure 24/7. This leave-in treatment makes my ends look way more healthy! When it comes to body scrubs- I’m picky. Farmhouse Fresh Sweet Tea Whipped Shea Butter Body Polish gets top marks from me! It may look a bit pricey but I don’t have to use very much because the exfoliants aren’t too harsh, really spread evenly, & leave my skin feeling moisturized.
For my skin the most important thing is balance. I’ve really been walking the liner between dry & moisturized this month but definitely leaning more dry. I’ve had a quite a few fun events & that means photography-ready makeup aka waterproof, smudge proof, & annoying to remove after a long night. The It Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm is heaven sent! It completely removes my makeup & leaves behind an anti-aging serum! Perfection for nights where I just want to conk out! When I need a bit more hydration I’ve been reaching for the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate which is also packed with essential oils. To tone my face without stripping it of moisture, the L’Occitane ‘Immortelle Divine’ Prep Lotion on a soft cotton pad. It makes my skin feel soften before moisturizer is even applied!
& now….some makeup, nails, & special hair accessories I snapped up recently! For some reason I was super into golds this month so I reached for Zoya Levi (full review of the collection here) a lot & wore Glisten & Glow Aye Spy Doubloons for a full week! When I wasn’t trying out a new polish or testing & wasn’t wearing gold…Girly Bits Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar was on my nails! Check out my full swatches & review here because this shade is life! For fragrance the Demeter Orchid Collection Cattleya has been my pick at night because it is super sexy & gently rocking me into the autumn season.
Because my skin has been up & down- concealer & foundation has been my friend! For daytime I’ve been reaching for the new Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy + Smooth Foundation which I’m planning to review soon & at night the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation which looks perfect in photos! Under my eyes I’ve been using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer but for spots or dark eye bags the only thing I’m reaching for is the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer which is the ultimate in coverage! To highlight my face the It Cosmetics Air Brush Radiance Fan #116 really diffuses the color & applies right to the tops of my cheekbones. Loving it for super pigmented shades! To set my undereyes the Real Techniques Setting Brush is everything I’ve ever wanted! I now own at least four & sometimes use them to layer on highlight as well!
My lips have been either caked in balm or wearing a long-wear lip color. Those events are long & I need something that actually lasts! My two favorites from this month were easy to pick out- Colour Pop Matte X Lippie Stix in Back Up & Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat! Back Up is a wearable, cooler toned plum with a comfortable, long-wearing formula. Plus only $5! If you want something you need to reapply less & that is more neutral- Driver’s Seat is a winner! This neutral color leans warm & is a very peachy pink- perfect with autumn eye looks! On my cheeks I can’t stop wearing the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Exposed. I have the entire Tarte Naughty Nudes Collection which I’ll be reviewing soon but honestly- Exposed is still my neutral favorite!
I’ve been really into color on my eyes so the Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette & the Lorac Pro2 Palette have been indispensable. If you follow me on Instagram (you don’t? click here & fix that!) then you’ve probably seen the Urban Decay Moondust Palette a lot lately. I have a review coming soon but for now just know I can’t stop reaching for these intense, duochrome shades. For neutrals & basics I’ve been using the Pro 2 from Lorac a ton (full review here ) & using in combination with other palettes as well. Normally I’m all about the original Pro palette (review here!) but for some reason the shades Nectar, Navy, Jade, Rose, & Lt Brown have been getting a ton of mileage lately!
Another scent I’ve been loving is Wild Honey eau de parfum from I Smell Great! I picked this up at Cosmoprof & I’m so glad I did! I’m semi-obsessed with honey products so the fact that this mix reactivates throughout the day & has touches of warmth are just a bonus. In my hair I’ve been wearing these super pretty vintage-style rhinestone & pearl hair sticks in gold & silver off Amazon for a bargain. & they’re so pretty! To fake a spa day (or 15 minutes depending on time constraints) the Fizz & Bubble section at ULTA has been getting tons of love! This month I’ve repurchased the F&B White Tea & Ginger Mini Bath Fizzies & pretty much everything they carry that said “Rainbow Sherbet” on it including the Large Bath Fizzy. But seriously- everything I’ve tried from the brand so far is crazy amazing!
What were some of your favorites this month? Are there any products that you’re using to transition into fall? Tell me all about it in the comments below!
