I have been having a semi-public battle with my brows long before blogging. I really fight to find that perfect brow balance…& with my personal eyebrows it tends to be tough. How much plucking is too much? Why are my brows so thin there? Geez- is that really the right color? I’ve been using the Milani Brow Fix Brow Kit in Light for years now- & here are two more products to add to my arsenal. Keep reading to see how these Milani products have helped to shape my difficult brows!
Let’s just address my brow issues shall we? I have hypothyroidism which makes my brows thin a bit. The medication I take actually doesn’t help this & the biggest issue is near the tail which is actually a symptom. It also makes my lashes periodically fall out but that’s a vent for a whole nother post! I definitely have eyebrows that are sisters (maybe even cousins?) & not twins. They aren’t the same which is why brow products really come in handy. In fact- both of my eye shapes are different as well. I’ve got issues folks.
I mainly like to focus on 1) my shape, 2) finding a color that suits a dark blonde, & 3) helping to fill in my very sparse front & back of my brows. I think everyone has different issues but those happen to be my top 3. The reason I tend to prefer powders is because they were the first brow product that I really liked on myself. When you first touch your toe into the brow product pool some scary stuff can happen- from sharpie brows to red brows to cartoon caterpillars. I found powders the easier option in the beginning to fill in & comb out so it is my natural fallback.
The Milani Brow Fix Brow Kits contain two powders, a highlight shade, mini tweezers, mini sponge tip, & mini angled brow brush. It actually has a mirror as well- see it there below the tools? I always travel with one of these kits- in fact I’ve forgotten it & purchased at a drugstore while traveling. The tweezers & other tools actually work in a pinch. There isn’t any space wasted here & the only thing I’d change is that maybe the top would be flat. Or is that why one of these has never shattered on me? If that’s the case- ride on Milani & do your genius thing.
These are the new(ish?) Milani Brow & Eye Highlighters…& they’re pretty amazing. You have a matte shade on one side & a highlighting/shimmer side on the other. Just for brows? Don’t be silly- they’re also perfect as eye bases/shadows as well because Milani is full of over-achievers. I have both 01 Matt Beige/High Glow (more golden/yellow toned) & 02 Matte Cream/Luminous Lift (more cream/pink toned). Both are gorgeous & I use them both for different things. I prefer 02 to work around my brows because of my skintone- the matte shade goes around my eyebrow because I actually get redness/blemishes there which can make them look less defined. It also helps hide anything you might have misses tweezing…just saying.
A quick walkthrough of my brow routine:
1) Comb through brows & tweeze/trim if necessary.
2) Use the Milani Brow & Eye Highlighters matte side to outline the brow. Blend with a synthetic brush.
3) Start lightly with the light side of the Milani Brow Fix kit with an angled brow brush. Begin applying the powder to outline then fill in about to the arch.
4) Dip into the darker shade to create the shape for the outer half of the brow.
5) Comb through to blend. Set with gel or wax…then move on in your routine!
How do you take care of your brows? What are your favorite products? Are you more of a powder, pomade, pencil, or gel brow person?
