Mermaids. Ocean waves. Sparkle. These are a few of my favorite things! One of my absolute favorites in 2016 from any brand is this palette right here (see my swatches & review here!). I’ve already done one look using it- a pinky/orange warm sparkle (see it here!) but I honestly reach for this green just as much! Keep reading to see more photos, what products I used, & a little video bonus!
The palette I used is pretty obvious to anyone following me for a bit- or that follows me on snapchat (stephlouiseatb) or instagram (stephlouiseatb). It is the oh-so-coveted Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette! I also added in my most-used neutral palette for mattes…which honestly just-so-happens to be Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette (see my review & demo here!). I guess I have a thing for Urban Decay lately..because I’ve testing out even more at the moment!
For this eyeshadow look- I started with my eyeshadow primer base. I find it really works best with the Moondust eyeshadows in general or even a tap of glitter glue. One of the hardest things to figure out about this type of eyeshadow formula is the texture- because application can be a mystery. I’ve found some brushes that really work beautifully which I’ll detail for you guys. I used a dense, flat brush (specifically my Real Techniques Shading Brush here) to start mapping out my color.
I started with the blue (Urban Decay Vega) in my inner corners & patting more into my crease. This brush is small which makes it perfect for this type of work! The main color is Urban Decay Lithium (the green) & because it fills a larger area I switched to my Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush & patted the color all over the lid & lightly into the crease. You really can’t swipe back & forth- just pat!
I used the Real Techniques Brow Brush to work Vega more into my crease. Honestly this brush is too big for my brows but it is perfection to create that crease line! & stiff in a good way with that angle! I then stamped some Urban Decay Galaxy (a sheer black base with blue/green sparkle) into my outer crease to define a bit & darken it up. I took a fluffy brush, the It Cosmetics for ULTA Airbrush Precision Shadow Brush #112, & dragged my crease color up a bit lightly without going too far.
With my It Cosmetics Airbrush Blending Crease Brush #105, I worked my way into my Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette (see my full swatches & review here!). To blend out the blue I used a very light amount of Instinct just to clean up the edges. On top of that I worked in a mix of Blow & Nudie. Right under my browbone I used TheBalm Mary Loumanizer lightly blended. To finish my lid I tapped my finger into Lithium & packed onto the center of my lid for extra pigment. Underneath my eye I used a combination of the Moondust shades mentioned to mirror my eyes- & the ultimate brushes for this are are the Real Techniques Eye Smudge + Diffuse duo. I’m serious- BUY THOSE!
I went with black lashes & liner. I’ve been really into colored liners or glitter ones…but this look had enough going on! In my inner rim I used my Tarte Clay Pot Waterproof Eyeliner in Black. Smudged along my lashline is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Perversion…but normally I do my signature wing! For my mascara…my current favorite is the IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara. I’m serious- this stuff is AMAZING! On my brows are the Full Brow Brow Powder in Taupe applied very lightly & a tad of their clear Brow Wax.
Sorry about the lackluster face shots…but you can see a bit better in the video! Unfortunately I didn’t realize my phone even had a skin filter- I swear I have pores just like everyone else!! On my cheeks I’m wearing my oh-so-loved Benefit Boxed Blush in Dallas lightly. On top, as my highlighter, is another favorite- TheBalm’s Mary Lou-Manizer. I sprayed a bit of my Urban Decay Setting Spray to finish off my face (expect full reviews soon!) & then added BareMinerals Pop of Plumberry Lip Oil Balm.
Here’s my quick video shared to Instagram as well- turn up your speakers to enjoy my music! Ha!
