I don’t review extremely disappointing products often…but when I do I tend to rock out to angry music & really throw a tantrum. With all the beautiful makeup available in every single price range, I tend to get a bit angry when I spend money on garbage. & it is rare I call something trash or garbage too. Because of my DIY nature, I tend to go with the “make it work” anthem we learned so long ago from Project Runway. But sometimes…sometimes you just need to throw things. Meet the LA Girl USA Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection in Neons.
Four gorgeous must-have eyeshadow palettes filled with a dozen majorly pigmented shades ranging from super wearable looks like Nudes to bolder looks like Neons. L.A. Girl’s Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection gives you the best of all colors to allow you to create stunning looks! The variety of colors and textures in the Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection include shimmer and matte shades making these captivating palettes very versatile to go from an everyday look to a night out. Each unique look is featured in its own luxurious glossy book with a double-ended brush and mirror inside.
I am a sucker for a fun neon palette- check out the Urban Decay Electric Palette tutorial here that I still adore. A pop of color can really make an eye look & a palette full of them is just plain fun. LA Girl isn’t one I buy from all that often brand-wise but after falling in love with their concealer & lippies recently (Want to see some positive reviews on those? Let me know in the comments!) I decided to throw this baby in my cart on the way to checkout. They also have a few other shade options in Smoky, Ultra, & Nudes but I have lots of those. Not that I wouldn’t buy more in those colors…but neons are just so rarely done well!
So the packaging is honestly bad. I can look past bad packaging for a more affordable product sometimes but this was $9 which is less than a lot of ELF. It comes housed in cheaper than cheap cardboard & is super lightweight. I could deal…but it won’t close or stayed closed. As soon as I removed the little disk sticker keeping it “sealed” this sucker was open. I actually kept a hair tie wrapped around it…that floppy. It does come with a brush which is whatever…excess space though for something that was meh. I included the ingredients list above since you’ll see some that people often point out as not so great in makeup. But on to the swatches right?
All of these shades are applied over my NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Base in White which is one of my favorite for bright shade. It is truly white & really makes colors go BOOM. So please keep that in mind…since I think it pulled a ton of the weight here in the color-payoff subject. You may be looking at these & thinking “Stephanie you’re being too harsh!” & to you I say…look closer. Closer. CLOSER. Look how much I had to layer on even over a tacky base. Look at the graininess. Look at the bumps. Look at the literal clumps.
Okay now zoom out because you’re now looking at my giant POed eyeball. No brows, liner, mascara, cleanup, etc…because it wasn’t even worth the hassle. This is like 5 pounds (ok maybe it just FELT like it) on my lid that continuously blended away & patched up like I couldn’t believe. Nope. Nope nope nope. This is a big ol’ palette of NOPE.
Whew! Now that this post is out there…what palettes have been totally disappointments for you? Are you bummed when cheap products don’t work for you or do you just attribute it to the price tag? Any other bright palettes I need to check out & review to help soothe myself?
