Have you ever picked up a palette & immediately thought of a certain season? The Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eyeshadow Palette is limited edition for Fall 2014 which is just so fitting- this palette is so stunningly autumn. I wish I had reviewed it earlier since it is sold out at a lot of retailers- but I will list some it is still available at below. This palette is everything & I included my favorite eyeshadow look along with it! Keep reading to see swatches, my thoughts, & a truly easy fall look.

The packaging on this palette is lovely- & like nothing else I’ve seen from Smashbox or any other brand. It has a magnetic closure but also a small plastic latch. It is somehow totally logical & incredibly easy to open. But it also keep closed! I could go on & on, seriously. It has a nice weight to it & a full-sized mirror for the size of the palette. There isn’t any wasted space. The one thing I would change is that I’d love to have the shade names below them but I can live without it. I love the exterior black & silver- easy to clean too.

Rows up & down from left to right: Bare is a pinky beige matte, Unadorned is a shimmering cool khaki-toned taupe, Shell is a metallic/slightly frosty warm tan, Rustic is a satin bordeaux, Oxidize is a pink-toned copper metallic, Topaz is a metallic light grey-toned taupe, Dark Cocoa is a deep cool-toned satin matte, & Ebony is a satin matte black.

Let me play favorites for a moment & look at how metallic Oxidize is & how glorious Unadorned is. GUYS. C’mon now!  Beautiful right? The formula on all of these shades blended beautifully but a few were a bit stiff. For me that was fine- they were definitely still great to work with & over primer lasted all day & well into the night.

My favorite look for fall is using copper/rose gold shades…so again Oxidize is an easy choice for me. I haven’t been able to do a look without using it somewhere- I have zero self-control. Sometimes I feel like it makes me eyes glow!  I love this palette- along with something like the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette you can create even more looks!

To create this look I primed my undereye with the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer (review here) & dotted the excess on my lid. I used Rustic as my base & patted it onto my lid with a flat brush to build up the color. I blended out my lines with a bit of Bare to help create my shape. Dark Cocoa was perfect in my outer corner to darken it up a bit- I didn’t want to go quite as dark as Ebony. I used a touch of Shell in my inner corner on top & bottom to lighten & create a bit of glow. Oxidize is my ace in the hole & I applied it to the center of my lid to really catch the light. I applied my Smashbox Always Sharp Eyeliner in Raven (review & swatches here) on my upper & lower lashline then set it with Unadorned which makes a truly gorgeous eyeliner combo in my opinion. In my waterline I have Smashbox Always Sharp Eyeliner in 3D Orchid (review & swatches here).

Overall- I’m thrilled with this palette & if you think you’ll love it half as much as I do I suggest you get your hands on it now while there are still a few available! The Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette for Fall 2014 is still available although limited edition from Macy’s, Nordstrom, & Smashbox.

What are your favorite fall shades? Have you snapped this palette up? Are you loving the packaging as much as I am?
