If you love lipsticks I hope you’re reading this post! Recently Revlon came out with their Rio Rush Lipstick Collection which contains 4 shades: Carnival Spirit, Sultry Samba, Ipanema Beach, & Brazilian Tan. I picked up Carnival Spirit & Sultry Samba because I don’t think those nudes would look all that good on me. I’ve fallen in love, keep reading to see why!
I really enjoy the Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick line overall but the Shine formula is easily one of my favorite lines period. In fact, I reviewed quite a bit of the permanent line here. I don’t wear matte lipsticks as often but I do enjoy a good one! If you’re interested in seeing other Spring lippies I picked up recently check out my quick video here with swatches!
In the tube Sultry Samba reminds me a lot of MAC Candy Yum Yum- that hot pink goodness in a matte formula. Carnival Spirit is a gorgeous orange with a touch of coral. If you aren’t familiar with Revlon lipsticks I actually quite like the packaging as well!
Sultry Samba is kin of hard to capture but this is the closest photo I could get that is color correct.
On the left is Revlon Limited Edition Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick in 828 Carnival Spirit & on the right is Revlon Limited Edition Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in 014 Sultry Samba. I did multiple swipes of each to build up the color because neither is opaque after 1-2 swipes. The shine line never is which I expected & am fine with but I had hoped Sultry Samba would be a bit more dense. However, because it isn’t, I think the shade is both more wearable & something I’ll likely reach for more. I find it builds up really easily on the lips though, in fact, both shades do. I think Sultry Samba looks more purple in this photo than in real life but the lip swatch is right on.
Here is my bare lips for reference- you can see they’re not really pigmented at all.
Here I am wearing Revlon Limited Edition Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick in 828 Carnival Spirit.
& here is the beautiful Revlon Limited Edition Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in 014 Sultry Samba.
Overall I’m really happy with my purchases! I really wish they weren’t limited edition- I think if more people were able to get their hands on them they’d adore both shades for different reasons. If you’re looking for a wearable way to wear orange on your lips this spring/summer then Carnival Spirit is a must! &, like I said before, Sultry Samba is a more wearable version of MAC Candy Yum Yum/OCC Anime which is something you guys have asked about before.
What do you think of these shades? Are you going to hunt either of them down? How about any of the other shades in the Revlon Rio Rush Lipstick Collection?
