I’m the first to say foundation is something I have trouble with. I have combination dry skin so moisturizers are a huge part of my life & often clash with anything long wearing. #2 Something for a child or the young at heart. I love these throwback Pac Man toys (they even make the classic sounds!) that I can gift to just about anyone. The best part about having a kid-friently toy is that children tend to show up in the office more this time of year & you’ll have something fun for them to play with. Sawyer is obsessed with these, the littlest of our animal bunch just loves that they make noise & was constantly trying to steal them off my desk!

#3 I absolutely love when new moms/dads start venturing into the “real world” again but I don’t always know what to get them. They’ve already had their baby shower but they still have baby on the brain. I love giving them something pampering that is still kid friendly, like this heating/cooling pad disguised as an adorable bear & 100% natural. Even if a newborn spits up on it you can wash it, plus baby can use it too. You can purchase my favorite Thermal-Aid Heating/Cooling bear from Amazon.

#4 If you have a friend who loves to be pampered but has everything (maybe a beauty blogger or makeup artist?) consider these awesome Glove Treat options. #5 You’re going to think I’m crazy but you won’t believe how many people have loved this as a gift! This is a handheld milk frother that works off batteries. You’ll love this as a gift to teenagers (coffee is so in), college students (fancy coffee is so expensive!), & even newlyweds. #6 Another item I’ll have a review on soon is this awesome set from Get Fresh! The grapefruit scent is intoxicating while still being rather neutral & the packaging is absolutely adorable. #7 Woodwick Candles are currently my favorite brand of easily accessible candles. Why? Because they actually contain a piece of wood as the wick & crackle as they burn, simulating a real fire. This is the perfect gift for a romantic, candle lover, or someone who hasn’t got access to an actual fire like us. Our favorite lately is the standard Fireside…which smells like a crackling fire. #8 Name A Star. Yeah it might sound a little hokey but it really is an awesome gift. This is what I got my husband for our first anniversary (paper!) but it makes a really unique gift for grandparents, young kids just getting into astrology, & even educators. #9 One of my favorite gifts to give or receive- the Pinch Provisions Minimergency kit. I reviewed this not just for myself but also the adorable men’s version. I feel like I’ve been looking for this type of line all my life: A line designed to not only wash/clean my hair but allows me to style it right after! Normally I literally plan around events (yes, pen & paper plan!) so that I can have at least second day hair to work with. As pretty as my hair is clean & freshly washed it just doesn’t want to do anything. Like…at all. It wants to just be hair. It looks slightly frizzy, floppy, & just like tons of thick hair. No pretty wave, no working with styling tools, & definitely doesn’t look how I want it to. This line is meant to give you the freshness of clean hair with the manageability of second day hair.

I started with Mark Hill Big Night Out Get Ready to Party! Pre Styling Shampoo (because I wash my hair like most people I suppose!) & immediately liked the scent. It is very soft, slightly floral, & doesn’t linger. If you’re going to be styling your hair & adding more product to it sometimes a heavy scent can mingle & become somewhat offensive. This shampoo is quite thin & is meant to prep your hair for styling. As I had hoped, it removed buildup, cleansed my hair, & didn’t leave it feeling stripped. If you’re looking for a super rich or super softening shampoo then this isn’t it, the whole point is to create a starting line for hair styling.

Following up the shampoo is the Mark Hill Big Night Out Get the Party Started! Pre Styling Conditioner. This also comes packaged like the shampoo & has a similar scent. I find this to be quite a light conditioner which I assume is the point: detangle & moisturize without going overboard & making hair un-styleable. Right? Right. So this does a very nice job, I have very thick long hair & it helped to detangle without being too hydrating. I personally can’t go without conditioner so this was a very pleasant surprise!

The last product I have is the Mark Hill Big Night Out Only Takes a Minute! 60 Second Detox Gloss Treatment. I think this is something really special, especially with only taking one minute. This does come in a smaller tube but it also takes very little time so does that balance out? I have VERY long & VERY thick hair but it is also fine so treatments can sometimes be finicky for me. I tend to leave them in as long as possible in the shower/bath. This one minute treatment seemed to do the trick though! You use this instead of conditioner so it takes a lot less time, smells a bit stronger than the other two, & is much thicker. I tried not to use too much (I have a habit of really laying down the treatments!) & it did leave my hair shinier & it also felt conditioner while still being able to style it!

Overall I’m very happy with this trio! For me personally, this isn’t something I’d use every day but before a big event or when I have product buildup & still have things to do this is perfection! I’m really impressed, why hasn’t anyone else come out with this type of invention? This would have been so amazing back when I was a cheerleader or for proms! Even better? You can purchase this line (& other Mark Hill lines, he has quite a few I hope to try!) from Walgreens! How awesome is that?

I design and create each piece in the Garden of Silver jewelry line in my art/jewelry studio on the north shore of Long Island, New York. My jewelry is created using both fine and sterling silver along with touches of gold and also the obscure Japanese alloy, shibuichi.

I have an extensive organic garden that is both serene and stimulating. I find it peaceful to work in the garden and can be found outside among the flowers, vegetables, herbs and weeds with my sketchbook throughout the growing season. My drawings and paintings have always had a botanical theme which has evolved into the Garden of Silver jewelry line. Many of the jewelry pieces are created by hand carving into wax and then cast into sterling silver. I also etch and emboss the metals to create texture and relief and utilize traditional metalworking techniques as well.

My necklace (located on the Garden of Silver site here!) is beautiful, with a classic chain, nice latch, & beautiful workmanship. You can really see the details in her work! Really fabulous & even better in person! I love this design but I also really love this Lotus Pond Pendant Necklace, Glimmer Earrings, & these Cyprus Earrings! Honestly, I think you’ll have a really hard time choosing!

For awhile now I’ve been on the hunt for an awesome set of headphones to start editing with. For those that have been around for awhile, I do have a youtube channel. Sadly when I got really sick I was able to keep up the blogging but not the videos, my voice was just too sick. Ever since I promised to get that back on track & to do that I needed an amazing pair of headphones that would withstand my rough household & provide amazing sound quality since I’m partially deaf. Tall order.

Needless to say when BlogHer partnered with the king of audio Monster I was in. I’ve never paid a lot for headphones, usually I just use them to workout with or listen to my audio books. I think that’s what was stalling me: How do I pick an expensive pair when I don’t really know what I need? Luckily, Monster came out with their N-Tude “Headphones with Attitude” & now I know why they are absolutely worth the price.

Obviously I could go into all the tech speak like techno noise isolation but that really isn’t my knowledge base. I don’t like to pretend I know all that jazz when you can just visit their site & read it for yourself. So what am I going to tell you about? Well, how about the things that make these headphones great for me personally using my own jargon?

1. First, the N-Tune Candy Collection colors are just fun. I am always drawn to color because it makes things so much easier for me to find. I have them in the shade Candy Tangerine but there are also shades like blue, green, purple, & red. Style!

2. They are incredibly durable. In fact, they claim to be virtually indestructible! You can even bend & twist the head band part (see I’m not technical!) without breakage! When you are clumsy, have lots of animals, a husband with very little attention to detail, & have a knack for misplacing items you’ll be psyched these are not only a bright orange metallic but pretty much unbreakable from a normal standpoint.

3. They fit! I have tiny ears, I mean pretty small. Normal in-ear headphones make my ears ache unless they are extremely small & even then I can’t stand them after awhile. I prefer headphones like this for extended use but often they are too big & engulf my ears awkwardly. These are secure but also extremely comfortable. Check out how cushy these ear pieces are, lush right? I wouldn’t wear them for hourse otherwise!

4. The sound quality is really great, even & easy to control. I always like headphones that drown out other noise because I’m partially deaf in one of my ears so that can be especially distracting. I also prefer that I’m not disturbing others & when wearing them people nearby don’t hear thing.

5. Let’s talk about the cord in general shall we? Not only is it tangle-free (rejoice!) but it includes a little button that lets me take calls when listening on my phone. Have a call? Push the button to answer. End call? Push button to hang up! So easy even I can do it!

So there you have it! I’m loving these headphones so much, my only complaint would be that I wish they came with a carrying case of some kind. They do come with a nice bag that is supposed to remove fingerprints & such though & since they’re “virtually indestructible” I guess they figured it works!

When I think about my hair I smile. Seriously, I’m extremely vain when it comes to my hair. I’m truly blessed. When reading about Turban Diva & Laurie Andreoni I started to cry. I can’t imagine being diagnosed with cancer & losing something that is truly a part of me. I know for a lot of people being sick would be the biggest problem but to see myself day to day not looking like myself would be so tough.

Years after receiving a degree in Fashion Merchandising, I made a complete career change to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic West. Losing my hair brought me full circle to create something that heals on another level.

Clearly Laurie knew what she was doing because she’s built a busniess not just for women who have lost their hair but for women who really love her products. I personally used to wrap scarves around my fair colored scalp whenever we went to the beach…back when I laid out in the sun without SPF. I promise I haven’t done that since I was 16.

Here I am wearing a black headband with hot pink flowers. I love that this is soft & flexible. I don’t have many headbands I could fall asleep in! I also love the it can be washed & just looks cute on!

This is the basic black turban set. You get a little black cap that fits over your head securely (can also be worn alone) with a little bit of rouging. I personally wear it towards the back but do what you like! Next you wrap the second piece which looks a lot like a scarf but made of the same material however you like. I’ve always liked a twist in the front.

I remember back when I used cheap disposable razors. They were stiff, didn’t last very long, & they definitely seemed to nick me regardless of what shaving aid I used. I’m sure they are better these days but now I stick with what I know works. Does it cost a bit more? Actually… not really. Here’s my bag that I picked up from Kohl’s on sale. Score! I bought it because I love black bags & wanted a but of a different style. I love cross body bags for when I’m doing errands & running around. Great! So what is the problem? Do you spy those little clips on the strap? The ones that keep you from looking foolish when it snaps open to unclip while you’re trying to pay for an obscene amount of nail polish in public with a line behind you? Trust me, after having this happen more than once I recognized the need for an upgrade with a strap that functions.

Cue this beautiful bag from BALIBELTS Studio. This Embellished Flap Over Satchel that I saved up for with my own dough. Beautiful. Classy. Doesn’t unhook in public to make me look like a crazy nail polish lady. Ah what a sweet upgrade. I’ll still use the old bag but only as a hand held which I don’t use as much. I’m all for a great deal but it isn’t a deal if it doesn’t work!

They start out straight & then you roll them into the desired size. I go BIG. I love volume & my ultra fine hair cant use as much as I can manage. My hair is thick but very fine & often lays flat.

So the way I use them is above. You can see each roller kind of links in with the other with the little bit of excess. This helps me keep them in my hair. Love it!

Here’s a quick picture I took with my phone. I put them in before I do my makeup then by the time I’m ton I have tons of volume.

The Conair Carbon Smooth XL Round Brush is just plain awesome. I use it to blow dry my hair so it has lots of volume. I also like it to curl under/flip my hair out. This is a BIG brush & it is perfect for smoothing out my long hair without the fuss.
