Have you ever participated in #nomakeupmonday? Throughout the week people post photos with the hashtag #nomakeup but Mondays is really where it is at! Want to get your skin prepped for the occasion- no filters needed? I even have some top-notch products to recommend. Keep reading to check out my tips & tricks!
The first step is to identify what you want to highlight or improve on your skin. For me it is easy- I have combination skin so when I wakeup it definitely needs hydration & exfoliation. I also have to be careful because my redness can really flare up if I’m using harsh products. Red isn’t what I’m going for in pictures!
My first step is usually exfoliating my lips after I brush my teeth. If you have dry lips or wear matte lip colors this is a great habit to get into! I like a sugar scrub before I was my face because then I tend to remove it with the cleanser.
Next up are my cleanser & scrub- both new from Bioré. On the left is the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub & on the right is the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser.
You can find both products in the skincare aisle at Walmart!
Starting off with the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser! This cleanser purifies skin in only two days & the dual-action baking soda formula dissolves deep down dirt & oil while gently exfoliating. You can see it looks a bit foamy but what you can’t see is that it doesn’t really strip my skin!
My favorite product on this whole list is the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub. I’ve reviewed expensive powder exfoliants in the past & I’m SO happy to have found a budget option! & I like the container the best of the powders I’ve tried as well! This powder scrub really fizzes on the skin & deep cleans pores while gently exfoliating. You control the strength of the exfoliant by adding less water for more of a paste & more water for a more gentle exfoliation. Afterwards my combination skin is perfectly exfoliated without making me red in the face! Plus the fizzy feeling is just plain cool!
Now that your skin is nice & clean- it is time to infuse! At this point I use my eye cream, serum, & facial moisturizer.
& of course now that your lips are smooth add in some lip balm for extra moisture. I do this last so I don’t wash it off or smear it around.
& boom you’re ready! Feel free to tweeze brows if necessary- but remember it will likely make you red around the area!
Last is taking the photo! Find your most confident angle & take some test shots! Try to use the regular camera instead of the front-facing camera for a more clear selfie!
& there you have it! My guide for a #nomakeup selfie! Try it for yourself & tag me so I can check them out! Don’t forget to follow my beauty account @stephlouiseatb & also my home + food account @homeinhighheels to stay up to date!
