The Urban Decay x Game of Thrones has been one of the most anticipated launches since announced. Fans of both the TV show & the Urban Decay brand were thrilled- & very curious. With such an adult show- what would the products be like? Would they be colorful like the Alice in Wonderland collaborations? More muted like the Naked collections? Welp- here is the Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette in all the glory to answer those questions! I’ll be covering the 24/7 Eyeliners, Lip & Cheek Stain, Highlighter Palette, & Sword Brushes in my next post so stay tuned for those! (that post is LIVE! see it here!)
The palette itself is a bit bulky- but is sure to appeal to fans. The packaging actually lifts up & looks great! The eyeshadows themselves actually pull out from a lower drawer.
The eyeshadows are broken up into 4 categories- House Targaryen, House Lannister, House Stark, & White Walkers. You have 4 shades set in quads with a circular “transformer” shade that can also be used as a highlighter.
White Walkers section in the Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette includes the shades: Take the Black, White Walker, Frozen North, Free Folk, & transformer shade in Hardhome.
a rich black with multi-colored micro glitters. It is a REALLY deep shade!
White Walker- an icicle, frosted, iridescent blue. Denser than some of my “shifter” type blue iridescent shades & builds up surprisingly well for this type of shade.
Frozen North- a medium to deep teal blue with a brightened, reflective metallic finish. The pigmentation & texture are fantastic!
Free Folk- a cool-toned, somewhat muted metallic silver.
Hardhome- a peachy pink white with a sheer, metallic coverage. This one has some chunkiness & fallout.
House of Stark section in the Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette includes the shades: Nymeria, Winter is Here, Weirwood Leaves, The Sight, & transformer shade in Winterfell.
Nymeria- a matte, warm brown with some softeness. A great crease or blending shade as there aren’t many mattes.
Winter is Here- a rich chocolate brown with a satin finish. It can look a bit metallic on the crease.
Weirwood Leaves- a deep plumy purple with a satin to soft metallic finish. This is a really nice purple texture!
The Sight- a gorgeous metallic pine green & pale bluish micro-sparkle. Another really nice texture & pigmentation notch.
Winterfell- a dirty, antique gold with a glittering finish. I prefer this one applied wet but of the chunkier textures, this one “sparkles’ the most to me.
House of Lannister section in the Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette includes the shades: Red Keep, Casterly Rock, House lannister, Lannister Red, & transformer shade in King’s Landing.
Red Keep- a very brightened, rich copper with orange & metallic finish. I adore coppers so this is a hit!
Casterly Rock- a true bronze with a soft metallic finish. Pretty but I have a lot of shades like it.
House Lannister- a soft, warm peach in a matte finish. I only use this for blending or a base because it takes some layering.
Lannister Red- a brown-toned red matte. Nice texture here.
King’s Landing- a very strong white gold metallic. If you want a golden glow- this shade is perfection. I have similar white gold shades but the texture here might be my favorite for the shift!
House of Targaryen section in the Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette includes the shades: Stormborn, House of Targaryen, Dothraki, Bend the Knee, & transformer shade in Bay of Dragons.
Stormborn- a cool brightened purple packed with purple & blue sparkles. This one is a bit gritty but still pretty- especially wet.
House of Targaryen- a muted, warm soft golden metallic. (I don’t know why this reads so orange in my swatch!)
Dothraki- a warm, dirty gold metallic. Nicely pigmented!
Bend the Knee- a pink-toned lavender purple packed with blue & lavender sparkle with a semi-sheer formula. I’m shocked by how well this performs because I adore lavender shades & they tend to perform so poorly!
Bay of Dragons- an iridescent, muted pink with a metallic, sparkling finish. A bit chunky here & there but works well wet especially!
Overall, I really like the shades in this palette! The packaging itself isn’t my favorite because it knocks out me ever traveling with it. The pull out drawer is always something I’ll afraid I’ll drop & the lack of mirror in a more convenient spot means it will be strictly for home use. It is also bulkier. But it is a collector’s piece- if you watch the show you’ll really dig this as a whole. I love sparkling shadows but if you only wear neutrals or mattes- this one will be a pass. I do think the teal & forest green are a bit close- would’ve been nice to see one that was a bit lighter or brighter. I also wish we had something other than warm mattes to blend looks with, the whole White Walkers section blended with those looks a bit odd. I think this palette will definitely vary in opinion from person to person!
