Scents are so important to me. I haven’t done a collection video/post yet but maybe I should to illustrate that. I have tons of scents from colognes to perfumes to mists. It just doesn’t feel like summer until I break out the summer scents! This summer I wanted to share the Demeter scents I’ve been absolutely loving the most! Demeter fragrances are single note fragrances that often tie in to memories or experiences.
From the Demeter site: The Demeter Fragrance Library consists of more than 250 different fragrances inspired by everyday objects and experiences. These are simple, friendly and familiar scents, scents inspired by the beautiful smells that surround us everyday, adjusted to be both recognizable and wearable. The assortment includes wonderful smells like Vanilla Cake Batter, Baby Powder and Honeysuckle, and many more unusual fragrances, like Dirt, Leather and Gin & Tonic. We are the physical and literal manifestation of “stopping to smell the roses,” convincing people to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful smells that surround us all the time.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Dragon Fruit- First off, I have no idea what fresh dragon fruit smells like. Not a clue. What I do know is that I break this out ever summer with a big grin. It smells like sparkling fruit, slightly citrus-y & really juicy. Yum. I layer this with all kinds of summer fragrances & it blends seamlessly.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Rice Paddy- The absolute most unlikely scent for me to love. I am pretty much never drawn to oriental scents so this was a big surprise for both myself & my husband! I use the Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Clean Skin a lot in the fall & apparently I think this is the summer version! Bright green notes, water, & emerging rice make this scent completely unique & surprisingly wearable.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Sunshine- Totally blew my mind. I had always wondered why Demeter didn’t have a Sunshine scent! Apparently they were getting it absolutely perfect & it took over 3 years! Imagine a “The touch, the feel of cotton” commercial where they’re twirling in the sunshine. That is what this smells like: warm, clean, a dash of clean laundry, & fresh cotton. Wow.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Saltwater Taffy- This is such a special scent for me, tied to memories of summer. I only got saltwater taffy during the summertime on family vacations & I was the only one who ate it. Just the scent of this reminds me of my parents who I miss so much because we’re stationed far away thanks to the Air Force. This smells like the lightness of the saltwater taffy with a tinge of salt. Perfection.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Moonbeam- Inspired by Love’s Philosophy by Percy Shelley this is a completely unique scent. A “foody floral” is a totally different realm for me & completely enticing. With hits of vanilla & chocolate in the beginning you also get green leaves, jasmine, lily of the valley, amber, & precious woods. The “contrasts between dark & light” is simply divine.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray in Jolly Rancher Smooth Watermelon- I feel bad because I think this was limited edition…but I couldn’t imagine a summer favorites without it! Watermelon is very possibly my favorite flavor ever…of like everything. Frozen yogurt, candy, fresh watermelon…I’m all about it. I’ve had this for awhile now & it isn’t available on the Demeter site anymore but if you can manage to get your hands on it…do so! It just makes me instantly happy.
Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Sprays are quick bursts of memory. They don’t last as long as other fragrances but when layered & anchored with other types of fragrance (think lotions, oils, etc.) then you can. I use most of my scents in my office for a jolt of wonderful. On top of that, all Demeter fragrances are 95% natural ingredients derived from natural or renewable sources. No artificial colors, phthalates, or binders either. You can purchase Demeter products directly from the Demeter website, Walgreens, & Rite Aid. There are other stores as well which you can view here.
I have always directed people to Demeter for specific whiffs of memory, from tomatoes to dark chocolate to chalk to crayons. They pretty much have it all & if they don’t…keep an eye out because they’re likely off perfecting it in a lab somewhere.
Do you own any Demeter products? Which scents appeal to you? What triggers your memories?
