So recently I was sent some items from BA Star to try out & they seem to be a bit holiday related. I wore this look a bit before the holidays & the products on their own here & there. I wasn’t ready to fully review until now because I just wasn’t sure about a few things! Keep reading to see what I though of all these items!
BA Star is a makeup line created specifically for athletes- dancers, cheerleaders, gymnasts, etc. I have really high hopes for a line dedicated to that much movement! I was a cheerleader & dancer up until the last two years of high school- makeup meltdown was constantly happening! They even have group packages & such which is really cool!
BA Star Natural Shadow Palette-
I like the look of this palette but those cream glitters just aren’t logical. This isn’t personal against BA Star, it is every brand that tries to give you a clear gel with chunks of glitter expecting them to be long-wearing. But they never are. One is gold & the other is iridescent. So use them for costume or whatever but I’m going to focus on the 3 eyeshadow shades. The copper is beautiful & even more orange-y metallic in real life. Lovely shade. The brown is a very cool toned & has a decent texture. The last is a light cream. They are all much prettier & pigmented wet & I swatched them slightly damp for that reason. All of these shades are a bit flaky but still workable.
BA Star Deep Plum Star Dust & Glitter/Shimmer Base-
I seriously hate this base. I’m hoping I got a dud because it isn’t tacky-it is sticky. Like really sticky. You can see it looks like my eyeshadow is creasing right after application above. Not cute. The Star Dust in Deep Plum however is absolutely fabulous. I love this shade so much! The swatches above show that many different tones, one swatch lightly with a brush & the other foiled. I have more swatches next to the lip color below as well. Such a gorgeous color.
BA Star Lip Pencil in Holiday Red-
This isn’t the red I think of when I hear holiday red but it is pretty! It has some gloss to it & is more punchy than I had expected. pretty shade & didn’t bleed though so I enjoy it from time to time! Because it isn’t such a vampy red I had an easier time pairing it with daytime looks as well.
Swatches left to right- BA Star Lip Pencil in Holiday Red, light swatch of BA Star Deep Plum Star Dust & a foiled swatch of Deep Plum.
On my eye I’m using the brown & cream colored eyeshadows from the first palette on my crease/highlight then the BA Star Deep Plum Star Dust over the base.
Overall I liked the Star Dust the best, I’d love to get my hands on more! I’d be interested in the palette if the glitter creams were eyeshadows instead & I’d also be interested in more of the lip pencils! What do you think? You can visit the BA Star website here!

So you want to see how I went from New Years Subtle daytime to New Years Eve Bombshell eh? Well, you’re in luck! I’m seriously wearing this as I type! I refuse to be the only one who needs to wear a simple look during the day & then transform into a New Year’s Eve goddess. Aren’t there any other real ladies out there? Well, this is my look- taking my super quick 3-5 minute eyeshadow look, wearing it all day, then transforming it into a look that only looks like it took ages. Because it is seriously simple & perfect for pretty much any time of the year. Keep reading to see the steps!
So let’s start with my daytime look- the main components are all drugstore. I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded (Barely Beige works great too) as my base, no primer necessary for my lids. Over that is the Wet n Wild Color Icon single in Nutty which is a gorgeous taupe & to blend out my crease & highlight I used Wet n Wild Color Icon single in Brulee which is my perfect skin match. That’s it. No muss, no fuss, & seriously barely any work whatsoever. My brows are the Milani Brow Fix Kit in Light, my mascara is Tarte Lights Camera Flashes, & my eyeliner is on the tightline is It Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black (review here). With this look I wear a natural blush, whatever face product I decide is necessary for my skin at the time, & pretty much any lip color I want although pink is the most common. Concealer as needed. Again, I just don’t have to think about this look.
Often when I’m needing to go on a date night, attend an event, or go out at night with the girls I want something more fun. But not too much work. When your makeup still looks pretty flawless by the end of the day it seems a waste to take everything off. Sure, if you need to touch up your face with powder or new foundation have at it but the picture of my eyes taken above was after 9 hours of wear. It still looks pretty darn good. Here’s how to go from day to night!
If you have 2 minutes- Apply a fabulous metallic eyeshadow, preferably one you can apply with your finger. Don’t look for a cream because you don’t want to apply a cream over a powder but do look for something you can blend out with ease. My go-to shade is the Lancome Color Design Eyeshadow in Single in All That Glitters which is an amazing metallic silver shimmer with the barest hint of green. Something metallic means you don’t have to do too much work because it will catch the light & reflect the light on its own. Blend out with a fluffy brush to blend the lines, I still used Wet n Wild Brulee.
If you have 5 minutes- Do previous steps & then add a bit of liner to your tightline then extend down to just the outter 3rd or 4th of your waterline. Don’t close off your eyes because it won’t make them look as bright or big. Curl lashes.
If you have 7 minutes- Do everything above then add smoked out liner or my favorite winged eyeliner. I personally like the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner in Black which has an excellent tip for quick application since I’m accustomed to it. Does the wing make you nervous because you’re in a rush? Skip it! Add some black or another deeper shade (Jewel tones look awesome!) then smudge out the line for a sultry look.
If you have 8 minutes- Everything above! Add a coat of lightweight, non-clumping mascara like Covergirl Clump Crusher for extra black lashes & don’t forget a quick curl + touch up anything under the eye! Not sure if you can tell but the quick swipe of mascara makes my lashes look much better & fuller as well! If you’re a falsies fan then those can be used as well or instead!
Obviously take into consideration if you need to touch up anything else on your face like concealer or blush but that is pretty much all I do! I usually opt for a bold lip because then I rarely apply too much more of a flush! In the photos I’m wearing an awesome pink toned purple called African Violet from Black Radiance. If you have dry skin like me, check out my review of the Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick– the perfect pick me up for touching up foundation that looks dry. Powder isn’t always the answer for us dry skinned gals!
Did you find this look helpful? What do you change into for a going out look? If you liked this post please let me know below & I’ll try to do some more! Cheers to a beautiful new year!

For over a year now when asked “What is your favorite palette?” or “What palette should I buy?” my first thought is the Lorac Pro Palette. Sure, I ask what people need- color, texture, neutrals, mattes- but usually this is the end recommendation! This is my most used palette of the year & I absolutely love every shade! As much as I love more colorful looks this has all of the basics. Add a colorful Urban Decay palette or some Sugarpill singles & you’re absolutely set! Keep reading to see why this is my top pick of the palettes!
From ULTA- Go PRO with the LORAC PRO Palette! Created by celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 8 Shimmer and 8 Matte Eye Shadows in all the shades you need to create the hottest looks straight from the Red Carpet. LORAC’s velvety-smooth shadows are infused with soothing botanicals and are ultra-pigmented to perform wet or dry so you can shade, shadow, line and define your eyes, just like a PRO. PRO Palette Contains 16 Eye Shadows and a Mini Behind The Scenes Eye Primer for stay-true color that lasts, a PRO must-have!
So this comes in a basic box, cute but still professional looking. The actual palette packaging is something not everyone will love. The outside is slightly similar to NARS packaging meaning it can get dirty looking & have some fingerprints. I honestly don’t mind it because it is incredibly thin but not the cardboard isn’t flimsy at all. I mean crazy thin! Perfect for daily use, storage, & travel. A very smart design that doesn’t feel bulky or cheap.
Inside you have a decent sized mirror, 16 shades in varying tones, & color names below each shade for convenience. The top row is matte & the bottom is shimmer.
Top Row (Matte) – White, Cream, Taupe, Light Pink, Mauve, Sable, Espresso and Black Bottom Row (Shimmer) – Nude, Champagne, Gold, Light Bronze, Pewter, Garnet, Deep Purple and Slate.
All of these shades are quite soft & buttery, you need to tap off before use. I find these very easy to blend out effortlessly. Even the shades that might seem a bit chalky blend on the eye to perfection without much work. You can also use these shades wet or dry for a variety of looks.Swatches below are over the Lorac primer included with the palette.
Top Row of the Lorac Pro Palette (Matte) –
White- Matte white with cool tones. A bit powdery but blends out beautifully.
Cream- Matte slightly warm light beige. A bit stiff but buildable.
Taupe- Matte warm medium brown. Great texture.
Light Pink- Matte very pale cool pink. A bit powdery but easy to work with.
Mauve- Matte muted plum toned pink. Nice texture & blendability.
Sable- Matte warm/red toned medium to dark brown. Great shade.
Espresso- Matte cool dark brown. Slight satin but appears matte on the eye.
Black- Matte medium to dark black. Very buildable for intensity.
Bottom Row of the Lorac Pro Palette (Shimmer) –
Nude- Nearly metallic warm beige-toned champagne. Smooth.
Champagne- Champagne that it very close to Nude. A bit more stiff.
Gold- Metallic bronze toned gold. Very pigmented & easy to use!
Light Bronze- Frosted yellow-toned light peach.
Pewter- Frosted slightly metallic medium taupe. More dimension out of the pan.
Garnet- Metallic red toned copper brown. Amazing on blue eyes!
Deep Purple- Deep blackened plum with micro-shimmer. Kind of a satin.
Slate- Shimmer with a deep cool toned grayed blue. The shimmer is kind of a purple/teal.
A nice mix of colors, both cool & warm. Likely the most versatile of all of my neutral palettes. I also have the Lorac Pro to Go palette which I reviewed here & also absolutely love. Both palettes have excellent pigmentation & blendability. They are just an excellent formula & the varying shades make everything from easy day or work looks possible along with sultry night time smoky eyes. Awesome overall. I also compared the Lorac Pro Palette to two of my other favorite neutral palettes here: Lorac Pro vs. Urban Decay Naked vs. The Balm Nude ‘Tude Palette (Detailed!)
I thought I’d close out this post with one of my all-time favorite eyeshadow looks using the Lorac Pro Palette. I simply love it! Check out the full post with instructions here!: Fake a Taupe Eyeshadow Look with Lorac Pro + Rimmel Show Off in Nova Tutorial
The Lorac Pro Palette is available from ULTA & also contains a mini eye primer for $42.
So as you might have been able to glean from my post- I LOVE this palette! Do you own the Lorac Pro Palette? Want to see any specific looks using it? What are your favorite palettes?

I’m a Glamour Doll Insider. Affiliate links.
Hey guys! I loved taking a short break for the holidays, it was fabulously needed! I thought I’d show you the eye look that I wore today using Glamour Doll Eyes pigments & share a bit about our holiday!
It was a busy holiday for us but also a heck of a lot less busy than usual! This year we stayed here on base in Nebraska instead of traveling to see family. It was definitely less stressful! We definitely spoiled each other (say hello to Ryan’s new Xbox…) which was also nice! Some of the beauty related items he got me are the Cargo Paris Palette, Marc Jacobs Honey Perfume, & my first ever boxed blush from Benefit in Rockateur which I just hadn’t been able to justify on my own. Definitely items I wanted! Let me know if you want to see reviews on any of those!
For Christmas we had two single military guys over who couldn’t go home to their famalies. Basically they heeded to be fed! I made Jack Daniels Honey chicken, sweet beans, spicy beans, corn, & jalapeno cornbread. Yum! Everything was nearly demolished. Our trees (yes, there were two!) might be fake but they were gorgeous & I’ll be sad to take them down. I love having our house looking so glittery & colorful…shocker right? Ryan was able to have a few week days off so we got a lot of shopping done including some Peppermint Brownies from Trader Joe’s which are SO good!
Right now I’m working on my end of year favorites- you can see my 2012 videos here! This year I think I’ll add some posts as well since the videos can be irritating to link repeatedly & shorten & such. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them! For my eye look today I have Flawless as a base, 5 Candles in the crease a bit, & Downtown mixed with GDE Foil Me as a liner. You can view Glamour Doll Eyes products here!
I hope everyone had very happy holidays (whatever you celebrate!) & safe as well! I’d love to hear your Christmas list haul or what you’re looking forward to in 2014! What were some of your cosmetic favorites this year?

Exciting news- I’m now a Glamour Doll Eyes Insider! I had applied while back & somehow by the grace of the eyeshadow gods made the cut! Big stuff! Basically I’ll be posting a minimum of 4 looks per month on the Glamour Doll Eyes Facebook page here but sometimes I think blog posts will pop up too! Because…they’re just too fun! Today I used Surprise!, Chivalrous, & Vigilante Glamour Doll Eyes shadows.
I used my eyeshadow base from Urban Decay then decided to try to find something to make my blue eyes pop. I used Chivalrous on my lid because it is a matte rusty shade with a lovely orange sheen. The beautiful smoky blue with silver shimmer is from the Super Powers collection. It is called Vigilante so of course it is named after Batman! I love the super smoky base, it clung really well & made it look a lot more sultry. On my browbone & as my inner highlight is the shade Surprise! which isn’t currently available. This is Glamour Doll Eyes specialty shade to celebrate their 5th anniversary & it is a gorgeous pearly white with multi-colored shimmer.
