So right out of the gate let me tell you I adore these lipsticks. I really want to own them all, but my CVS basically refuses to restock the ones I don’t have. I want #12 like no one’s business but they have one damaged, mangled one left. BOO! But overall, this is definitely one of my favorite lines from the drugstore, especially for around $5. [Read more…]

I wasn’t expecting to lip this balm nearly as much as I actually did. When I think of medicated balms, I immediately think of being sick. When your lips start to crack & get peely, you need a bit more oomph. I am not a bit orange/tangerine fan but like the lemon variety, I quite lip this one. Rather than making me taste like medication (ew!) this always has a light tangerine scent/taste but it isn;t so overwhelming that it would make me nauseous if I was ill. This variety also seems a bit thicker than the others I have which I appreciate. I have a feeling I’ll be using this a lot in the season of coughing fits & runny noses!
Have you tried the EOS Medicated Tangerine balm? Which EOS balm is YOUR favorite?

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Copperhead Swatches + Review!
I’m so sorry I’m so behind with all my Lustre Shine swatches, I’ve had a really terrible time with my computer lately. Expect to be spammed with them all ASAP! This is my LEAST favorite of the bunch, read on to find out why!
Is this pretty in the bottle? You bet. It might not be my favorite in the bottle, but it is pretty. It has these gorgeous green/purple metallic veins running through it that I was able to capture here & there. My issue? Well, check it out on the nail…

See what I mean? It is pretty, but I really think it is a dud compared to the rest of the Lustre Shines if you’re looking for a color shift. As far as bronzed coppers go, pretty, really it is. But as far as compared to Lava or Scarab, pssshhh puh-lease.
What do you think? Is this pretty enough for you to pay the heavy price tag? (More on the other shades & bottles shots + prices can be found on a prior post!) Is this a color that you love or is this one to pass on?
Starlooks Starbox for September 2012 (My First One!)
So if you haven’t heard the buzz about the Starbox from the makeup company Starlooks, it is definitely worth learning about! This is a subscription box for $15 a month that sends out FULL-SIZE products from the Starlooks line! If you haven’t seen their products before, I urge you to check out some videos on youtube. My favorite unboxing guru is thesassiwench who also has a blog as well! For the September box, I was incredibly blown away as it contained a product similar to one I had wanted to buy at IMATS but was sold out…read on, you won’t regret it!
So I was a bit thrown off when I got my Starlooks box because although I had never HAD one physically, I had watched numerous unboxings. Their packaging is now white, which threw me for a loop in the video so I hope that explains my mumbling haha.
Here’s a closer look at what the inside of my box looked like + the beautiful crystals. I had the hardest time photographing those tiny stones but PLEASE know they are absolutely lovely! I hope you can see the opal glow a bit!
Let’s look at the eye primer first! So this comes in a pot which I love. I know some people prefer eye primers in a tube but I actually love min in jars since I apply with a clean finger 99% of the time anyway. Plus, then you can take a spatula & get out every tiny bit as opposed to performing surgery on a tube as to not waste expensive product.
I’ve been using it for a few days now & I am quite impressed. As I stated in the video so eloquently (HA!) it doesn’t have that weird primer smell. WIN! It is a nice light primer, I can’t feel it on my lids at all after it sets up. It works as any primer does for eyes by making shadows last longer. The packaging is a nice, heavy glass which makes it feel more luxe.
I think I made it very clear that this palette is pretty remarkable in the video. Without repeating what I said 100 times again, this is definitely one of the things I’ve been looking for SO long. I just lucked into it, who would have thought? This is very similar to the very expensive NAKEDS stack I was planning to pick up at LA IMATS. When I had finally convinced myself to bite the bullet (ok it took maybe 2 seconds of convincing) they had been sold out since the day before.
I actually prefer this in a palette I think because you really won’t need very much. I think the swatches pretty much speak for themselves. I swatched each shade over a black gel liner then on its own to the right.

So all in all, I was really impressed with this box! For $15 a month, you KNOW you’re getting full sized products which is what a lot of people are asking me to find in a sample box. Although Starlooks is still a relatively new brand to me, I definitely think they’re on the right track. All of the packaging felt very sturdy & reminiscent of higher end brands. Some of the things I judge are the outside feel, if the labels seem like they will wear off, closures, & general logic of packaging.Plus, their added bonus items are lovely!
I love that they have their own store as well, but I haven’t found these 2 products on there yet. Maybe they came out in the boxes first? That’d be pretty cool. One thing to note is that until they sell out, you can purchase PAST boxes HERE. How cool is that? Because the $15 box is usually quite a bit cheaper than full-sized products. From what I’ve calculated, these boxes are a great savings. Obviously this is my first box so I’m not sure about the past boxes, but they seem to be on par with this one. However, if you buy a PAST box, it is $25 instead of the regular $15.
Who do I think will like Starbox? If you hate foil packets, want full sized products, & are looking to try ONLY cosmetics then this is what you have been waiting for! I am so glad to finally be able to show you girls an ONLY cosmetics box, whew! Been a long time coming eh? I hope you’ll check them out & feel free to post your first reactions below!

BarkBox for September 2012 featuring Cobo & Zeus Pics!
On my quest for the best subscription services, I stumbled upon BarkBox! For those that don’t know, I have 2 dogs & a cat. Cobo is a Boxer/Shar Pei & Zeus is a Poodle/ Shih Tzu. Both are rescue mixes & spoiled beyond belief. When I come back, I want to be one of my dogs. Getting to spoil THEM with a monthly subscription is pretty incredible…& they love getting mail.
About BarkBox:
When you sign up for BarkBox, every month you will receive a box in the mail with four or more carefully selected products and presents for your dog – anything from bones and treats to shampoos, leashes and innovative new gadgets!
If your dog is begging for more or you want to gift a favorite item to a friend, we’ll give you exclusive opportunities to order more products at a great rate.
A portion of proceeds from each box will go to help doggies-in-need. To learn more about our causes, read about our giving program.
Whether you’ve known your furry friend for years or have a new special canine in your life, BarkBox is the monthly necessity for keeping your pup entertained and feeling well loved.
I think you guys will get a kick out of this: it is actually more personalized than more of my beauty boxes! Seriously. You get to choose your dog’s size (in a lot of beauty boxes they don’t even pay attention to skin color!) which is super handy. I went with Cobo’s size (he’s about 100 pounds) because Zeus thinks he’s a big dog anyway. Your choices are Small & Cute (0-20lbs), Just Right (20-50lbs), & Big & Bold (50lbs+) so it is pretty simple. There wasn’t a Lazy & Clumsy selection so I went with the Big & Bold option.
For one month of BarkBox you pay $29, for 3 months you pay $22 a month, & for 6 months you pay $17.50 a month. Shipping is always free! I LOVE that you actually get a substantial percentage off (40%!) for joining for 6 months. Sometimes you only save $1-$5 a month, but 40% is a nice chunk of change. Another item to note? You can cancel anytime. Plus, 10% goes to a rescue charity which is also awesome.
Let’s look at what the boys got shall we? Also, check out photo-bombing Zeus!
So first, let’s look at their cards. I love love LOVE the little drawings (noticed the barking dog sketch on the box I put up there? HA!) & I love that these aren’t all cluttered. Like many other boxes, one side gives you a little bio about the items you’ve received. Although it doesn’t include prices, it does include websites which I like.
So there you have it! So far, they have played with the bottle mostly by rolling it around the floor…then feeling like I cheated them bu not having free treats in it. I’m a horrible mother clearly. I think BarkBox is so majorly cool. I am hoping that I answered most of your questions, but if not, just leave them below & I’ll do my best!
Have you gotten Birchbox before?…interested in picking up a BarkBox for your pooch? What do you think of the items I received? Okay, I didn’t receive anything, let’s be honest, this one’s for the dogs! 😉
**Referral links have been used. This box was provided for review consideration. All opinions are 100% my own. The dogs are not models, they are my own. Ha.
NEW Limited Edition Maybelline Baby Lips Swatches + Review!
Birchbox September 2012 featuring Dr. Jart, Color Club, & More!
I look forward to my Birchbox every month like crazy. I’ve had Birchbox for well over a year, they’ve always had standout customer service, & they continuously introduce me to new brands & products. This month I was kind of half & half: it isn’t a bad box but it also didn’t blow me away. Birchbox is $10 a month & always a great surprise…to see what I got this month keep reading!Mary Kay Fall 2012 Reviews + Swatches! & a GIVEAWAY!
When I was younger, I truly hated fall. Everything dying made me so sad. Now that I’m older, I actually enjoy it quite a bit. The leaves with their array of falling colors, putting on a gorgeous coat, & wearing bold but simple makeup simply makes me oh so happy.
Victoria’s Secret The Nakeds Review & Swatches
I’ve had this for awhile & honestly kept pushing back this review until I had ample time to test the shades. I actually picked this up from the Victoria’s Secret store as opposed to online…since there was absolutely no information online about it. WTF VS! Clearly this goes along with the whole neutral palette trend but this one is a bit different! I think you guys will really appreciate it so do keep reading!
All of these were taken WITHOUT primer…clearly it is more pigmented over primer but these are really pretty on their own! The stripe down the middle is the liner that came with the palette which is labeled as just a VS Eyeliner in Extreme Black.
Hair: Maijan Pure Moroccan Argan Oil infused with Grapeseed Oil and Essential Oils
If you had told me 5 years ago that I would be ADDING oil to my hair to make it look better, its likely I would have slapped you silly. I’ve come a long way & have stocked up on quite a few different oils since. I usually say my hair is normal but a bit dry at the ends. Its pretty healthy regardless of what damage I do to it. This humidity here in Nebraska though, gross. On one hand, I kind of like that it brings out the waves in my hair if I don’t style it. On the other hand…GROSS. So between the heat & humidity you’d think I’d be staying away from hair oils right? Nope!
From Maijan.com:
Maijan Pure Moroccan Argan Oil infused with Grapeseed Oil and Essential Oils is the perfect solution for healthy hair and skin. This miracle golden Organic Argan Oil helps soothe and soften both dry and frizzy hair and trouble skin. Maijan’s secret blend of the Organic Argan Oil infused with Grapeseed and essential oils gives your hair and skin a sense of pure luxury like none other.
This is a 2 oz glass bottle with a dropper. It will last quite a long time. The scent on this is VERY different from my other oils but I do like it! It reminds me of getting henna tattoos as a kid. The key to this oil’s glory is that somehow it packs in all the benefits of the nutrients & anti-oxidants while feeling incredibly light. Definitely a great trait in something going in my hair. This hair oil is a bargain compared to many other hair oils I have at only $25. It might SOUND expensive, but you only use a tiny amount.
I don’t have to use much of this Maijan Moroccan Argan Oil to notice a positive change in my hair. I like to add it to my tips usually just brushing & pinching them with my fingertips a bit. I’ve also used it on dryer parts of my skin which I’ve prone to & it adds back the moisture I’m lacking. Now, please do note, I’m not slathering myself in oil. End note.
I have given my hair an oil treatment but I really find that my tips benefit the most & it helps to keep my hair styled & not frizzy at all. In winter, I use hair oils to combat dryness in my hair so I’m sure this will be put to good use…if I have any left! I think I’d really like to try the Maijan Deep Conditioning Boost Hair Oil Treatment with Argan & Lavender Oil next! For more information about Maijan products, check out their website!
