Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Mint Jolie Swatches & Review

June 3, 2013 By StephanieLouise 424Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F06%2Flancome-color-design-5-shadow-liner.htmlLancome+Color+Design+5+Shadow+%26+Liner+Palette+in+Mint+Jolie+Swatches+%26+Review2013-06-03+14%3A41%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F06%2Flancome-color-design-5-shadow-liner-palette-in-mint-jolie-swatches-review.html

Birthday gift. Affiliate links.

If you happened to catch my ridiculously spoiled birthday haul from this year then you probably caught how much I wanted this beautiful palette from Lancome. The Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Mint Jolie looks youthful but sophisticated. This was my first Lancome Color Design 5 palette although I had swatched it in stores (pretty much every store I went into…) for a very long time. The shades go together beautifully, you can create looks year round that are on trend, & they honestly feel amazing. I’ve been really excited to share my swatches & review with you so here it is!

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-08_zps9ddbf3a2.jpg
 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-09_zps3d218292.jpg

So in a weird twist…I can’t find other reviews on this palette. I find this odd since it is not only on trend but from such a popular brand. Hopefully if you were searching for swatches or a review like I did before purchasing you’ve had better luck. Apparently this is an unsung palette! This palm sized palette comes in the usual grey-silver Lancome packaging with the iconic rose. The palette itself is simple black, sturdy packaging with again the silver iconic Lancome rose symbol.

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-07_zps2a4844d3.jpg

The Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palettes all come set up the same way. You get 5 shades total, each with a different suggested purpose. Shade 1 is an all-over base shade, 2 is meant for the lid, 3 is for the crease, 4 is a highlighter, & 5 is meant to be a liner. In the photo you see a clear insert labeling each shade which is easily removed. This diagram also appears on the back of the palette for reference.

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-05_zps8b567336.jpg

Let’s look at the specific shades you’ll see in the palette. The photo above is with flash. You can see the shades in natural lighting below.

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-04_zps12e88d0f.jpg

1. is the All-Over Base shade & it is a shimmery vanilla.
2. is the Lid shade & is a pastel mint with soft gold shimmer.
3. is the Crease shade & is a beautiful taupe with nice pigmentation.
4. is the Highlighter shade & is a beige crushed glitter which means it is slightly flaky. The flakes themselves are a very soft gold. You’ll get a bit of fallout with this shade if you use it dry & it will look more metallic when used wet.
5. is the Liner shade & it is a smoky black base packed with emerald shimmer. I really prefer this shade wet as it is more pigmented.

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-02_zps7d0b17d1.jpg

Swatches left to right on bare skin (no primer) are all done dry. You can also wear these shades wet.

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-01_zps1b1337a8.jpg

You can see the taupe changes a bit depending on the lighting. This makes it a true taupe! Love! The mint also shifts a bit as the gold sheen catches the light.

 photo Lancome-Mint-Jolie-Color-Design-Palette-03_zpsde8e979b.jpg

This liner shade is definitely blacker when used wet & more pigmented. I wanted you to be able to see the emerald shimmer though, it is really lovely! I’d love this shade in a stick form!

I really love this palette. You can create multiple looks with these shades from day to fun to night time sexy. I can’t wait to get some tutorials up for you guys because I definitely think these shade look better on the eye. All of the eyeshadows are very soft. I can see some people complaining that they aren’t pigmented when using a brush so I wanted to give you a tip. Use a firm brush, sponge applicator, a damp brush, or even your fingertip. This really helps to deposit the color beautifully onto the lid. This also helps to prevent fallout.

Stay tuned for tutorials! You can purchase the Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Mint Jolie for $49 from the Lancome website. You can also purchase this palette where Lancome is sold since it is part of the core line.

What do you think of this palette? Are these shades you would wear? When it comes to the tutorial would you like to see a day, dramatic, or smoky look?

Claire’s Splatter Black and White Nail Polish Over Butter London’s Poole Swatches & Review

May 17, 2013 By StephanieLouise 437Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fclaires-splatter-black-and-white-nail.htmlClaire%27s+Splatter+Black+and+White+Nail+Polish+Over+Butter+London%27s+Poole+Swatches+%26+Review2013-05-17+12%3A45%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fclaires-splatter-black-and-white-nail-polish-over-butter-londons-poole-swatches-review.html

 photo Claires-Splatter-Black-and-White-Nail-Polish-Swatches-01_zpsf11e3fa5.jpg

*BL Poole is a PR Sample. Affiliate links.

When it comes to black & white glitter nail polishes…I must collect them all! I didn’t have super high hopes from his one from Claire’s but it turned out lovely. I don’t know why I wasn’t expecting it to, I’ve been impressed with pretty much every Claire’s polish in my collection. I swatched this over Butter London Poole which is pretty much a perfect combo of love for me. Keep reading to see swatches!

Claire’s Splatter Nail Polish: Micro hexes, medium hexes, large hexes, & jumbo hexes in both black & white & then black bar glitter suspended in a clear base. This is “placed a bit (although you can apply in coats I just like an overall even look!) over Butter London Poole.

I’m really loving this shade!  It applied nicely & had the decency to lay flat even without a top coat. I was thinking about how much I loved this combo with Butter London Poole…when I realized this was very similar to a combo I did with Zoya Wednesday last year for IMATs! I guess I like what I like huh?

Butter London Poole is part of the summer collection ( I have 3 polishes to swatch!) so if you like this shade, snap it up while you can! Claire’s doesn’t have an online store so you’ll have to go inside for this baby! They were having a deal that I think was like 2 for something or other but I know it was under $10!

Sinful Shine with Gel Tech in Mardi Gras & Alfresco Review + Swatches

May 14, 2013 By StephanieLouise 442Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fsinful-shine-with-gel-tech-in-mardi.htmlSinful+Shine+with+Gel+Tech+in+Mardi+Gras+%26+Alfresco+Review+%2B+Swatches2013-05-14+23%3A04%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fsinful-shine-with-gel-tech-in-mardi-gras-alfresco-review-swatches.html

 photo SinfulColorsShineMainPhotoMardiGrasandAlfresco_zps08f21cfc.jpg

I used to cover Sinful Colors all the time but after their big blogger drama I tapered off a bit. Since it appears they have fixed things with those bloggers (at least to me knowledge!) I have been branching back into the brand. I got some new shades from target recently & then picked up these two shades from Walgreens for $2.99 each. I’m glad I did!
Application on these was the same so I’ll just cover it here! Each polish is 2 coats, not base or top coat. These definitely have a different formula & tons more shine. I wore Alfresco for about 4 days with minimal chipping so I was way impressed! That’s when I went out & bought Mardi Gras & did my swatches! These also both have superfine hidden shimmer but I think it more brightens the shade rather than making it look like a shimmer. They are definitely creams. Note that the handles are also different: instead of black they are a metallic.

 photo SinfulShineGelManicureinAlfresco02_zpsaa1ab2d3.jpg

 photo SinfulShineGelManicureinAlfresco03_zpse0cf4b86.jpg
 photo SinfulShineGelManicureinAlfresco01_zps6edae672.jpg

Sinful Shine in Alfresco- This shade is a lovely, soft cornflower blue with maybe a touch of Carolina blue. In some lights, you almost see a touch of periwinkle. I love this shade & it is definitely flattering.

 photo SinfulShineGelManicureinMardiGras01_zpsb0375fd6.jpg
 photo SinfulShineGelManicureinMardiGras03_zps4fd34397.jpg
 photo SinfulShineGelManicureinMardiGras02_zps451accc6.jpg

Sinful Shine in Mardi Gras- This honestly doesn’t say Mardi Gras to me at all but whatever. I love this shade, it is a nice melon. I think it is slightly more muted than in my photos.

I’m definitely surprised with the quality of these shades & I’ll be investing in more! The finish was lovely & the wear time better than average. Have you tried anything from the Sinful Shine line from Sinful Colors yet? Any shades I need to get my hands on?

NEW Maybelline Color Tattoo Shades for Summer 2013 Swatches & Review

If you read my post on the new limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoo in Precious Pearl then you knew this post was coming. Maybelline Color Tattoos are just plain awesome, the only bad thing about them is that they can’t call be permanent! This collection brings about duochromes…let those angels sing. I passed on two shades (a yellow & an icy lavender) but I did pick up 5 which you can see below! [Read more…]

Essie Resort 2013 Collection Swatches & Review

May 1, 2013 By StephanieLouise 460Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fessie-resort-2013-collection-swatches.htmlEssie+Resort+2013+Collection+Swatches+%26+Review2013-05-01+14%3A57%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fessie-resort-2013-collection-swatches-review.html

 photo essiemainphotoresort2013_zpsc135cb37.jpg

I fell in love with this collection. I actually passed on only one shade ( Under Where?) because I thought it looked too much like another shade I own. I’m kicking myself a bit & might need that one in the end. I have a nail polish problem! The shades I did end up with are really gorgeous & must haves in my book if you don’t have something similar! Keep reading to see swatches & review!

 photo DSCN7570_zps038c0eda.jpg

Essie In the Cab-Ana- A bright light blue with a hint of dustiness. In case you feel like you’ve heard that description before… Zoya Rocky from yesterdays review was a little bit similar! However Rocky is noticeably dustier & In the Cab-ana is brighter. 2 easy coats.

 photo DSCN7635_zpsd241a388.jpg
Essie Come Here!- A bright red/orange cream. I’ve seen this look totally different in other swatches so I think this plays off skintones. You can see it leans more red on me! 2 coats & this finish was nice & even.

 photo DSCN7616_zps74d38ca3.jpg

Essie First Timer- A brightened light mint. I love the look of this shade & it really looks fabulous on. If you pass this one up I think you’ll regret it! I’ve worn it for about a week now! 2 easy coats.

 photo DSCN7585_zps20b82df0.jpg

Base shade is Essie In the Cab-Ana, flower is Essie Come Here!, leaves Essie First Timer, flower center is Zoya Thandie which I reviewed yesterday here.

Which shade is your favorite? Did the Essie Resort collection catch your eye too? Tell me…do I need the one shade I passed on?

You can purchase these shades online from Nordstrom (affiliate links) if you can’t find them in store: In the Cab-ana, First Timer, Come Here!, & Under Where? or in a cute mini set.

NEW Maybelline Color Tattoo in Precious Pearl Swatches, Review, & Comparison

Maybelline has come out with new Color Tattoos so you know I had to run out & pick them up! I’ll be showing 5 from the new display soon but first I wanted to show #10 Precious Pearl. I love neutral bases & these Maybelline Color Tattoos make the perfect eyeshadow or shadow base for me! Comparisons can be so helpful with cream eyeshadows don’t you think? I also decided to show this shade next to #100 Barely Beige & #70 Barely Branded for reference. Keep reading to see more! [Read more…]

Maybelline Limited Edition Vivid Lipsticks in Electric Fuchsia, Pop of Cherry, & Orange Edge Swatches & Review

If you have seen my other reviews for the Maybelline Vivids (I’ve swatched them all! Part One is here & Part Two is here!) you may be telling me, “Stephanie? Why do you possibly need more Vivids?” & to this I say, “I NEED THEM ALL!” Because I really do feel that way. I simply need every single one. When I heard they were releasing 3 limited edition shades it should be no surprise I needed them in my collection. But I was scared….after many weeks of searching they just weren’t showing up! It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Pointed Precision Luminizer Brush & It Cosmetics Hello Light Anti-Aging Radiance Creme Review & Why You Need Them

March 12, 2013 By StephanieLouise 507Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F03%2Fit-cosmetics-heavenly-luxe-pointed.htmlIt+Cosmetics+Heavenly+Luxe+Pointed+Precision+Luminizer+Brush+%26+It+Cosmetics+Hello+Light+Anti-Aging+Radiance+Creme+Review+%26+Why+You+Need+Them2013-03-12+15%3A25%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F03%2Fit-cosmetics-heavenly-luxe-pointed-precision-luminizer-brush-it-cosmetics-hello-light-anti-aging-radiance-creme-review-why-you-need-them.html

 photo 2d7786ac-e932-47ba-a4e0-84c27e78f4e1_zpsb53cdb86.jpg

Say hello to the highlighter to end all highlighters. I love highlighters so much so when I got this gorgeous little baby from It Cosmetics in the mail I was quite excited. A highlighter! Right up my alley! The It Cosmetics Hello Light Anti-Aging Radiance Creme is pretty much the only highlighter I’ve reached for in weeks & I’m going to tell you why. Plus, get ready to need yet another brush because there simply isn’t another like it!

 photo DSCN5348_zpsc4214ccb.jpg

When it comes to a true highlight (I love shimmer powders but they don’t look as natural on me) I want something that I can wear just over moisturizer or with a full face of makeup. It needs to look real & like I was somehow born with the ability to glow on command. Ah if I only had that kind of superpower! Well, I guess, now I kind of do.

 photo DSCN5360_zps15bb91fd.jpg
Take note of the brush first. This is an excellent multi-tasking brush. This is the It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Pointed Precision Luminizer Brush & it is brilliant. This feels luxurious & is super softer but definitely the correct density for liquid or cream products to apply perfectly. This brush contains 100% cruelty free bristles & they absolutely do not tug when I’m applying. This is super important because sometimes I use it to apply concealer under my eyes as well. It is pointed so I can reach into tiny parts of my face such as my cupid’s bow & under eyes. For larger areas I can pat it with the point & angle it to the side as well. You’re going to love it.

 photo DSCN5357_zpsbc0e9704.jpg
 photo DSCN5368_zps5817cf02.jpg

Now onto the shining star of this post, the It Cosmetics Hello Light Anti-Aging Radiance Creme. This specific products was designed to blur away fine lines, provide skin with the look of vitality without glitter or shimmer, & to nourish your skin while warding off free-radicals all day long. It automatically lifts & brightens your skin but you won’t even feel it. This is the thinnest veil of creme ever.

 photo DSCN5351_zpsce872926.jpg

Use the back of the box to note what parts of your face you most want to bring forward, add light, & brighten. Again, you can use this on bare skin or foundation & it looks so naturally radiant…it is now considered a must have. This is now entered into my Holy Grail products which is a rarity.

 photo DSCN5374_zps55cbaa94.jpg
 photo DSCN5377_zps8bf105b1.jpg

You can see it blended in on the left & pre-blending on the right. Fabulous.

The It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Pointed Precision Luminizer Brush & It Cosmetics Hello Light Anti-Aging Radiance Creme are available from QVC, QVC.com, ItCosmetics.com, & internationally at The Shopping Channel & theshoppingchannel.com in Canada.

Sephora Collection Outrageous Prisma Chrome Metallic Eyeshadow in Taupe #6 Review, Swatches, & Eyeshadow Look

March 7, 2013 By StephanieLouise 513Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F03%2Fsephora-collection-outrageous-prisma.htmlSephora+Collection+Outrageous+Prisma+Chrome+Metallic+Eyeshadow+in+Taupe+%236+Review%2C+Swatches%2C+%26+Eyeshadow+Look2013-03-07+13%3A51%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F03%2Fsephora-collection-outrageous-prisma-chrome-metallic-eyeshadow-in-taupe-6-review-swatches-eyeshadow-look.html

 photo SephoraOutrageousTaupe2_zps3add8450.jpg

Have you ever fallen in love with an eyeshadow? I’ve been there. & they so rarely break your heart (unless it is limited edition, breaks, or gets a formulation change…gasp!) I’m in love & it is limited edition so I’m informing you that you need to go get the Sephora Collection Outrageous Prisma Chrome Metallic Eyeshadow in Taupe #6. This is apparently limited edition (I didn’t know that when I bought it) but when I saw it on Pink Sith’s blog post here was just too fabulous to pass up. She loves taupe too so we’re eyeshadow sisters.

 photo SephoraOutrageousTaupe_zps34e50f0c.jpg

You can see this doesn’t lean as brown in the pan but it comes out in the swatches. This comes in plastic packaging but it doesn’t feel cheap. I always like the clear window on top so I know what I’m looking for. The eyeshadow itself is quilted & it was a bit heartbreaking to ruin it. Pretty. I know this is $16 which I normally don’t pay for a single eyeshadow from a brand I haven’t played with in person but you also get 0.12 oz of product. For reference, that’s 0.05 oz in your common MAC shadow. Now $16 seems like a bargain eh? Especially because this is so pigmented that I barely need to use much.

 photo SephoraOutrageousTaupeSwatches_zpsef4309ad.jpg

Let’s talk about taupe. There is a lot of different kinds of taupe. This is glorious. This particular taupe is metallic & lays somewhere between cool brown & cool silver-y lilac-y grey. Its taupe, it isn’t hard to explain okay? What you DO need to know is how amazingly pigmented this is. I’ve swatched so you can see it both wet & dry.Top is foiled bottom is a light finger swatch.

 photo SephoraTaupePrismaEyeshadow_zps21320a4f.jpg
I did this eyeshadow look before filming my February 2013 Favorites video & my Glossybox February 2013 box video. You can check out how it looks on film there! & don’t forget to subscribe! I used it dry on my lid & dampened (or foiled if you prefer) on my crease. If it looks patchy at all it is because it is metallic & caught the light not because I go out lookin a hot mess.

 photo SephoraOutrageousTaupeface_zps7ac15bfb.jpg
 photo SephoraOutrageousTaupeface2_zps5b7e1dc0.jpg

Here it is…& yes the smile is real. Because I’m wearing taupe. A fabulous taupe. A taupe I wasn’t able to compare to any of my other taupes. TAUPE. It makes me happy.

So there you have it, a whole bunch of talking about this fabulous Sephora Collection Outrageous Prisma Chrome Metallic Eyeshadow in Taupe #6 so hopefully you’ll appreciate it. The name is a bit ridiculously long, but I’ll allow it. After all, its taupe.

**I bought this shadow with my own money. Affiliate links have been used. I also linked to Pink Sith. She’s not giving me anything but she can if she wants to I suppose.

Jesse’s Girl Glow Stix & Liquid Glass Lip Glosses Review & Swatches (Unedited but you won’t believe it!)

March 2, 2013 By StephanieLouise 5163 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F03%2Fjesses-girl-glow-stix-liquid-glass-lip.htmlJesse%27s+Girl+Glow+Stix+%26+Liquid+Glass+Lip+Glosses+Review+%26+Swatches+%28Unedited+but+you+won%27t+believe+it%21%292013-03-02+14%3A53%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F03%2Fjesses-girl-glow-stix-liquid-glass-lip-glosses-review-swatches-unedited-but-you-wont-believe-it.html

photo frontphotojessesgirlglowstix_zps6114dc25.jpgSo I want to tell you first off, none of these photos have been edited other than cropping & putting my blog on them. No saturation altering, no light alteration, all natural lighting, everything. These really are these insane looking.

I bought these while I was in California & swatching the new Jesse’s Girl Julie G nail polishes earlier reminded me I somehow forgot to show these off! If they aren’t just the coolest things ever right? I was so excited to pick these up because they look like crazy opals…I never thought I’d find this type of coloring in a lip product!

 photo DSCN4853_zps76734285.jpg
 photo DSCN4857_zps6b6a36ff.jpg
 photo DSCN4869-1_zps1cb253b4.jpg

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Glass Lip Gloss in Razzle Dazzle- This shade is a medium blue toned fuchsia pink & I like it a lot shade wise. This has a warm vanilla scent but it isn’t very strong so if you’re sensitive, I think you’ll be okay. The applicator surprised me, I thought it was going to be your average lipgloss brush but this one is actually firm & a bit pointy. This definitely applies more like a liquid lipstick to me, it is really pigmented! I found that it would bleed a bit because it is so thin & pigmented so I wear it over a lipliner.

 photo tangerineglowsticksjg_zpsaab98bc0.jpg

Jesse’s Girl Glow Stix Lip Gloss in Tangerine-  The shades I spot here are mainly iridescent orange & lime/yellow but there are also flashes of blue purple, & pink. The applicator on this shade & Wicked look like the Liquid Glass Lip Gloss with the clear wand but this has a traditional, easy to use brush applicator. On my lips, this leans more tangerine with a hint of pink. You can see the other shades here & there, especially if you use a lot or put it over a dark shade.

 photo wickedglowstixjg_zpse52a1f62.jpg

Jesse’s Girl Glow Stix Lip Gloss in Wicked- The main two shades are an  iridescent cool toned bright blue & teal green with flashes of lime, purple, & highlighter yellow. I don’t detect a scent on either of these Glow Stix. I didn’t catch the bright purple on the swatches below but believe me, it is vibrantly there in natural light. On my lips, this leaned more green. You can see the other shades here & there, especially if you use a lot or put it over a dark shade.

 photo swatchesglowsticksjg_zpsc5aba4aa.jpg
Left to right: Jesse’s Girl Razzle Dazzle, Tangering, & Wicked.

These products were purchased with my own funds while I was in California for IMATS LA. I’m not sure if you can still find them in stores, but you can purchase them from the Jesse’s Girl website!  They didn’t have the shade Red Dawn when I was there but I’d really like to get my hands on it!
