When I started seeing people report about these new Maybelline Electro Baby Lips popping up I was hooked. If you remember way back, I’ve reviewed Maybelline Baby Lips here & then some of the wonderful limited edition shades here. I just love them. They are moisturizing, smell great,& come in a variety of shades. The new shades here are much brighter so I was convinced I needed them in my life! Keep reading to see if you need them too! Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01 Swatches & Review
Laura Mercier is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands for face products. Being very fair, it is often hard to find a great match. Recently Laura Mercier debuted their beautiful Matte Radiance Baked Powders. I currently own 2 & am so impressed that I split them up to share. Today, the gorgeous highlight that I just can’t get enough of.
From Laura Mercier: An ultra-smooth baked formula that provides natural colour with soft matte radiance to the skin for a “bonne mine” healthy glow. Bronze shades give skin a soft matte finish and a hint of warmth.
So, the description throws me a bit because this definitely isn’t a matte highlight. Instead I find it is a gorgeous slightly peachy champagne shade baked with a gorgeous, buildable glow. You can easily go heavy handed or natural. I love highlighters so it isn’t a surprise this shade speaks to me. Even, absolutely velvet smooth, & will last you ages. For an even, healthy glow this is the perfect choice.
With jojoba oil you might think this doesn’t wear well when in fact it wears wonderfully. Completely even throughout the day & I think it helps with the moisture so that it doesn’t ever look chalky. Very little fallout, not drying, & fragrance free it is a great pick. I can imagine this looking beautiful on any skin tone.

Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Single in Tastefully Taupe Swatches & Review
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile then you know how much I love many Maybelline products. From the Maybelline Color Tattoos to the Maybelline Color Whispers I’m a big fan. Besides the Maybelline Color Tattoos though…I really don’t have any eyeshadow singles! I’ve picked up a few but that was year ago & they weren’t on par. Today I’m sharing a shade I know a lot about: taupe. How could I pass that up? Keep reading to see how it stacks up! [Read more…]
Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Turquoise Swatches & Review
Do you have makeup products that you “visit” at certain stores? Often it is pricey palettes for me or other things I just can’t justify. I’ll pet it, swatch it, sigh at it, then move along. I know I really like something when I keep coming back. That is exactly the case with the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Turquoise. Now that I officially own it & have been using it for a few weeks I’m ready to share my thoughts!
I’ve been a big fan of the Stila Smudge Sticks for a long time now but this is my first bright shade. I have some deeper shades, like plum & moss. This is also (to my memory) the first Stila Smudge Stick I’ve purchased that doesn’t contain shimmer. These wear very nicely & apply quite smoothly, especially for an automatic pencil. These are not retractable so do pay attention to how much product you’re rolling up!
All in all, a beautifully unique shade. I don’t have anything close to this color in my collection & definitely not something matte. I’m very impressed. This was a it pricey but these pencils last a long time. I also think it is a limited edition shade so if you want it, you’ll need to snap it up. I picked up my pencil at Ulta.
What do you think of this shade? Do you have anything similar? Interested in seeing a tutorial?
Quick Hits/Misses: Nivea Lip Butters

Loud & proud, I’m a lip balm junkie. Tinted, shimmer, slick, or scented I’m pretty much in. I am likely addicted but that is a story for another time. The Nivea Lip Butters have been out for quite awhile in other countries & a bit less time here. I think I’ve had mine for about 4 months. Definitely ready to share my thoughts with you!
First off, there is an original scent but I don’t have that. I like scents but if you are more sensitive you might prefer the original kind which I believe is in a blue tin.
The Nivea Lip Butters come packaged in a nice flat tin about the size of a blush. For about $3.99 you get 0.59 oz. Sometimes you can grab these on sale as well! I also appreciate that you purchase these with a seal along the outside. Props to Nivea for that!
I have 3 varieties: Raspberry Rose Kiss, Caramel Cream Kiss, & Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss. The Raspberry Rose Kiss smells like Raspberry flavored yogurt. I eat a lot of yogurt so trust me, I know. This smells amazing but doesn’t have a taste for me really. It is actually slightly pink on color. Caramel Cream Kiss is the scent I was most excited about because I absolutely love caramel. It smells like caramel corn but I really like it. Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss is probably my very favorite. It smells incredible, like warm baked goods but not the artificial kind. Gorgeous. All 3 of these balms have kind of a milky texture. I slather it on before bed but I have to pay attention in public or else I look a bit crazy.
Overall, these are definitely a hit. I grabbed mine on sale at Walgreens, Nivea is often in their sale rotation. Have you tried these balms? What do you think?
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Peach Swatches & Review
I’m declaring this shade an absolute favorite for summer. I’ve had it for about a month & I’m so impressed! I’ve had issues with some NYX products in the past & you lovely readers suggested I try more lip products. You were right! I have a few of these glosses & although I like them NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Peach is my first heart throb. Keep reading to see why!
What makes these glosses so popular? Well, for around $5 each they are quite affordable. You also have access to over 50 shades which is quite impressive. Some people really like the scent as well which is an artificial cherry scent. Personally, I’m not a fan but it doesn’t bother me enough to pass on these based on scent. What am I a fan of ? You get 0.37 fl oz for a bargain. For reference, a MAC lipglass contains 0.17 fl oz. & a big price difference.
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Peach is a melon pink with coral tones & fine shimmer.
I love this shade because I can wear it alone or layered so it is a bit more versatile. It is creamy but not so creamy that it looks “milky” on the lips. The shimmer isn’t too in your face & makes it look more reflective than shimmery. Such a great shade for summer!
I may not consider it peach…but NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Peach is still lovely! Any other shades I need to check out? Any other lip products?
Shimmer Nail Polish in Leslie Swatches & Review
If you love glitter or shimmer polishes then obviously the Shimmer Nail Polish line will be for you. Coming in a wide range of colors & variations you’re bound to find at least one that suits your fancy. In fact, you might even find one of your namesake. Today I’m showing you Leslie. Keep reading to check it out!
Shimmer Leslie- A light blue & lavender small hex base with scattered medium blue hexes, hot pink, silver, & silver micro hexes, & various like blue/periwinkle shimmer. When you hold your hand out, it looks like it shifts with dimension from more of a periwinkle with a slight lavender tinge. 2 thin coats over Lancome Aqua Bleu (see full swatches here) & a top coat.
Overall I think this is a really lovely shade & it would look nice over anything. I picture it as kind of delicate & feminine, likely because I’ve been wearing so many neon glitters lately. I put it over another shade that is also pretty & soft to kind of go with the flow. I think this would be stunning over black or a deep berry or plum as well this fall.
Do you own any Shimmer Polish shades? You can purchase them here on Etsy, check out their swatches & sales site, & follow them on Facebook to stay up to date!
Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Body Butter Review
Whenever I’m in TJ Maxx I tend to walk out with something. Sometimes a nail polish other times a plate. This time, however, was a scrumptious body butter. The Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Dry Skin Fix Body Butter is something I’ve never seen before. How do I know this? Because I wouldn’t have been able to pass it up! Keep reading for my full review!
First…let’s talk about pistachios. I love them. For 100 day in Kindergarten…I brought pistachios. When I buy pudding? Pistachio. I love the taste & the smell so when I spotted this tub I really had no choice! This was $4.99 at my TJ Maxx & it was sealed. I pretty much refuse to buy anything not sealed there. There was one opened so I did get to smell it beforehand. I think that is important. If you don’t already know what pistachio products smell like, smell it beforehand or make Jell-O brand pistachio flavored pudding.
This body butter appears very thick upon first touch. It isn’t the thickest but it does lean towards that end of the spectrum. The butter kind of heats up in my hands & applies evenly. So incredibly soft on my skin, it melds really well. This scent also lasts a long time & smells kind of warm. I really need to use some of my summer scents since…it is summer…so I’m going to save some more of this for fall. It will be tough, I really like it. It makes me think of my grandparents who always made me pistachio pudding. You can purchase the Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Body Butter from Drugstore.com & they also have Mango Smoothie, Cherry Tart, & Coconut Latte as well. This is a UK based brand so I’m unsure where else to get it. Like I said, I got mine from good ‘ol TJ Maxx.
Do you love pistachios too? Are there any random scents that bring back memories for you?
Birchbox for June 2013 featuring Color Club, Mirenesse, & More!
So…Birchbox has pretty much re-branded itself. It appears to be more of an overall brand. Out with the pink & in with the multi-sex prints & colors. Not that men can’t rock pink, but you know what I mean. They also seem to have changed logos, no more pink square. I was SO close to canceling Birchbox after a few too many duds but I’m glad I didn’t! Keep reading to see why!
The box itself is different as well. The interior has a chevron pattern. The theme this month is Wanderlust. Aptly named since they have launched in a few more countries! They also included some cute postcards which you can see in the video.
My thoughts:
Birchbox & Color Club Nail Polish in Reign in Spain- This is a neon pastel orange shade. I haven’t worn it yet but I like Color Club so I’m happy to see it in my Birchbox. These shades are Birchbox exclusive.
Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk- This is a nice size, enough for me to know I like it. This isn’t the most clarifying dry shampoo I’ve used but it smells wonderful! I really love this scent!
Mirenesse Glossy Kiss Lipstick in Perfect Kiss- This is a full size lippie! I love pencils like this, so easy to use on the go & they always apply nicely. This pencil says it can be used on cheeks too but I haven’t tried it that way. I do love the color so far!
Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser- This scent is fabulous with lemongrass extract & natural sugar. I love it, it smells great & is fine enough for an even exfoliation.
100% Pure Nourishing Body Cream- I received the Coconut Nourishing Body Cream & the Vanilla Bean Nourishing Body Cream. I think I’ve received samples of this before but I think it was another subscription service. They smell really nice & aren’t too thick or thin. Nothing mind blowing.
Overall, I’m impressed with this Birchbox. It was well worth the $10 I spent. I’m glad I stuck around & I’ll give it another shot. Want to sign up? Here’s my referral link for only $10 a month.
