Holiday palettes are everywhere currently but I haven’t been showing some less expensive options have I? I feel like I’ve been awfully fancy shmancy lately! During the holiday season so many high end deals come out that I splurge more often. I had the opportunity to review the Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smokey Eye Palette so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you today!
From Studio Gear Cosmetics-
Studio Gear Cosmetics is a prestigous cosmetics brand featuring a full collection of professional makeup brushes, revolutionizing complexion formulas, and a wide selection of color products for the eyes, cheeks, and lips. This is a line created true to the concept that every woman deserves professional, high quality cosmetics at a reasonable price.
The Studio Gear Professional Brush Collection is the core of the line. Made only from the highest quality hairs and hand-tied for unbeatable quality, women around the country are using this collection to enhance their makeup application and express their creativity with precision. Customer loyalty is ensured through a lifetime product guarantee and with over 40 tools, everything from basic to advanced techniques are covered.

The Studio Gear color palette is vibrant and original – the colors are true, pure, and precise. The simplicity and quality in the eye shadows and lipsticks provide staple colors for any look, whether it be timeless or trend. Customers ask for products by name and keep coming back again and again.

This is my first time trying out Studio Gear line thus the long paragraphs above about the line. I honestly haven’t heard much because I think my ULTA is still getting their line in. You can purchase Studio Gear from the beauty departments of Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Dillard’s, HSN and ULTA & also on their own website. Being stationed out here I really only have access to ULTA so that’s likely why I have some Studio Gear ignorance. Because of some of the price points I saw online I had pretty high expectations, they are about on par with Stila or Smashbox price wise. The Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smokey Eye Palette is currently on sale on the Studio Gear website for $25 but the regular retail price is $40. That’s quite high for 4 eyeshadows & one blush in my opinion so I expect nice packaging, high quality pigmentation, fantastic texture, & a wearable look overall since this comes as a palette. After checking the ULTA website (where I’d naturally shop) they have this palette listed as $10 or free with any $30 Studio Gear purchase. Um. Okay? Whatever, onto the review shall we?

 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches01_zps2750aecb.jpg
 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches02_zps59484a2b.jpg
 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches03_zpsa6e4dca1.jpg

Let me start with the packaging: it doesn’t blow me away. It feels a bit cheap & the sleeve is pretty but once removed there is absolutely nothing about this palette I find “holiday” or even the palette name located anywhere. The palette is made from very thin but quite sturdy cardboard & it closes with an invisible magnetic closure. The front is simply black, grey, & white with their logo & name. The back has a long list of ingredients for each product inside. Zero decoration or anything that would let me know the name of this palette later on or that I bought it around the holidays. Guess the sleeve is supposed to stay on? The one pro on packaging is that although quite thin I find it very sturdy, worth mentioning again in fact.

 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches04_zps5633df21.jpg

Inside…we have no mirror. Maybe this is a personal pet peeve but I just dislike wasted space. Sure the look idea is pretty but I would have preferred it on an extras card or even on the back of the palette. Mirrors reign for me. The look idea is also just a sticker, mine is already starting to pull & peel a bit at the edges. Not impressed. The one nice thing about the top of the palette is you can see the shade names I suppose, again, something that could have gone below each eyeshadow or on the back of the palette. The not so nice part about the diagram is that it has the eyeshadows located in the wrong places…not sure if mine is a dud or if they’re all like this. They specify how to get the look using lots of other Studio Gear products, none of which I’ve tried or were included with the palette itself but it is a standard smoky look.

 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches05_zps882b920e.jpg

Let’s dive into the actual products shall we? You receive 4 eyeshadows & one blush which is in the center of the palette. All of the products contain shimmer. The blush is Snowy Glow & the eyeshadows are Platinum, Frost, Coal, & Glimmer.

 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches06_zps76f9781f.jpg
 photo StudioGearHolidaySmokeyEyePaletteReviewSwatches07_zpsd22b908c.jpg

Left to right: Frost, Platinum, Coal, & Glimmer. Bottom is blush in Snowy Glow.

The pigmentation on this palette is pretty poor although the shade Platinum & Snowy Glow blush are absolutely lovely. Snowy Glow is very similar to NARS Orgasm or TheBalm Hot Mama blushes, a beautiful peachy pink with golden shimmer. It is much prettier once swatched than I had anticipated in the pan. Frost (a frosty, shimmery white) is extremely difficult to work with- very flaky, crumbly, & barely any pigmentation. Glimmer is actually pretty in the pan (a very pale gold with hints of champagne) but swatches extremely sheer. This was the most depressing for me because I actually don’t have anything like it & it is lovely in the pan. Coal is kind of a poorly pigmented shade but that isn’t so terrible if you’re just looking to blend or darken. Coal is a chalky medium silvered charcoal with silver shimmer. Platinum is by far the standout in the eyeshadow category- buttery & beautiful metallic silver. I wish the rest of the shades performed this well, it is truly lovely.

Overall I can see where they were going with this palette & if you pick up some other items from Studio Gear at ULTA I think this is a nice freebie. At $10 (or even less after the holidays) I think this palette might find a happy home in someone’s stash for the shade Platinum & the blush in Snowy Glow. Because this didn’t perform for me personally I don’t see myself reaching for it much but I’d still really like to try some more Studio Gear items to check out if this was some kind of fluke. Especially the blushes! If you chose to order from the Studio Gear website you can also use code SGHOLIDAY for 10% off.

What do you think? Have you tried any items from Studio Gear? Anything I need to check out in particular?

When it comes to my hair I have some serious issues during winter. Not only is my hair already dry but then it drops below zero & kicks up an icicle wind. I’m not even exaggerating! I love a pretty headband, especially this time of year, to keep my long, thick hair looking good…& out of my face. Scunci was kind enough to send me some of their headbands to check out & they’re giving away one of your choice to two of my readers! Keep reading to see what I think & to enter to win!

First let’s look at my very favorite headband shall we? This is a Scunci Animal Print Knotted Headband that is a mix of black & blue based grey.Maybe it is my insane bias to animal print (RWAR!) or maybe because this headband nearly matches the grey-blue in my eyes…but I am absolutely loving it. I love that this is wrapped in a light chiffon type material, it looks like something you could wear to a work even or out on the town with the girls. Versatility, that’s what a headband is all about! I paired it with an easy, messy side bun because why not right?

 photo ScunciHeadbandsHairstylesHairDIYTutorialEasyGiveaway001_zpsba8a8843.jpg

Next up is a headband that isn’t quite my personal style but I can see a lot of people really loving it. This is a thin silver metal headband with a side ornamental flower cluster in black, pink, & diamond. Cute & very sweet.

 photo ScunciHeadbandsHairstylesHairDIYTutorialEasyGiveaway003_zpsb4214ee0.jpg

Next up is another animal print because I have zero self control. This actually comes in a duo pack with a chocolate brown headband accompaniment. These are super stretchy & beyond comfortable to wear. Honestly, I’ll probably get the most use out of this one, I feel so sassy but not so fancy that I can’t rock a sweatshirt you know?

 photo ScunciHeadbandsHairstylesHairDIYTutorialEasyGiveaway004_zps49b6d482.jpg

Next up is what Scunci calls a “bohemian” “Wide Loose Knit Color Striped Headwrap” which happens to be another super comfy headband. This too comes in a duo pack with the pretty brown & blue shades which you can see at the top or bottom of this post. I decided to wear the crazy pink combo because there’s no way you wouldn’t notice it right? This is super comfy & I’ve been using it when I need to get my hair out of my face in a hurry.

 photo ScunciHeadbandsHairstylesHairDIYTutorialEasyGiveaway002_zps141d7f2f.jpg
 photo ScunciHeadbandsHairstylesHairDIYTutorialEasyGiveaway08_zps36354d88.jpg

Last is a very trendy headband that is called the Scunci 6-Strand Fabric & Beaded Headwrap. I really like this one, it is like hair jewelry! I don’t even feel super ancient wearing this one! I like the crochet detailing & laid back feel but I think it beings some interest to my hair with zero effort. I like it with this easy side twist.

 photo ScunciHeadbandsHairstylesHairDIYTutorialEasyGiveawayPin_zps72bb2a79.jpg

Scunci was kind enough to offer to giveaway to TWO WINNERS your CHOICE of headband! This giveaway is open to US & CANADA! Good luck everyone, I can’t wait to see your favorites!

When it comes to splurge-worthy items hand care always comes to mind for me. I love doing nail posts for you guys but my cuticles do get try (especially with the cold weather!) & my nails do too. I work hard to take care of the skin on both my hands & feet but sometimes you need an extra boost! The gLOVE Treat products are a perfect fit & reusable! Keep reading to see my thoughts & TWO readers will win!

 photo gLOVETreatHandampFootParaffinwaxtreatmentreviewgiveaway03_zpsc62b4368.jpg

If you’ve been following me for any length of time then you know I bettle dryness- eczema, dry skin, allergies, etc. I just have it all going on. On top of that, I have really sensitive hands & feet- as a child I never got to wear any fun shoes ever. They made me break out or cut in. I still have scars from my teenage years where I totally pushed it. Like an idiot. Anyway- back on topic- dry, somewhat sensitive skin.

I don’t go to the salon or have services done very often. I’m very particular about my products & have had bad reactions in the past. Plus, I can’t justify getting my nails done with the 2,000+ bottles of polish in my stash. My husband would kill me! I work hard to maintain my skin but I have been needing something intensive. Something new. & something that wouldn’t totally kill my holiday fund. Glove Treat came by just in time & I’m so excited to show you the results!

 photo GloveTreatProductBoxandBooties-1_zpsc89c0a2d.jpg

From gLOVE Treat– Tired, dry and aging hands and feet are a thing of the past with gLOVE Treat. gLOVE Treat is a revolutionary paraffin wax treatment for hands and feet that delivers instant results with long-term, anti-aging benefits. A patent-pending formula and application process, gLOVE Treat is unique, quick, and easy to do and use. Because it’s a hygienic single application, there’s no mess, no fuss.

 photo gLOVETreatHandampFootParaffinwaxtreatmentreviewgiveaway04_zps06b1f956.jpg

So let’s start with the basics since both of these products are VERY similar! One is for hands & one is for feet but the overall concept is identical!

The Formula-
So basically these are big plastic gloves or booties filled with high quality ingredients. You’re looking at some virgin coconut oil (great for dry skin!), multiple types of cosmetic grade liquid paraffin & wax, essential oils, & nothing harsh. They are paraben & sulfate free. They also contain no faux fragrance. The fragrance itself is delightful & something I lean towards naturally. The formulas contains both coconut & lavender oils which just smell so comforting to me. If you’ve ever stayed at my house then you know my bedroom always smells of lavender because I have anxiety & it helps me sleep! This is a combination I feel good about putting into my skin.

How to Use Them-

1. Each set comes in a sealed package. Rip that baby open & check them out. They’ll feel firm because they’re room temperature. Don’t bother cutting the opening for your hands/feet just yet. Note the heart on the exterior, that will be coming up next! You’ll also have a little baggie with some bands & clips inside, just set those next to where you’ll be doing your treatment since you’ll want them later.

2. March over to your (CLEAN!) microwave & place both of them inside. Microwave them on high heat for 90 to 120 seconds. Remove them & sit them next to each other in the are you’ll be sitting. (I assume you’ll be sitting but if you’re actually doing yoga or something….more power to you?)

 photo gLOVETreatHandampFootParaffinwaxtreatmentreviewgiveaway06_zps1ef915f0.jpg

3. You want to wait until the hearts on the front turn back to a dark shade meaning they’re ready to apply. While you’re waiting for them to cool off a bit, I recommend grabbing a big pair of socks or even towels to wrap around your hands or feet.

4. When the heart is dark, cut off the very tops of your boots/gloves with scissors. Use the elastics (or velcro if you have the gloves) to fasten them closed around the wrist/ankle.

5. Leave the treatment on for 15 minutes. It is going to cool down & like cooling paraffin it will become more malleable. This makes removal easier than expected.

6. Once the gloves are removed, rub in the excess oils into your skin with your hands.

To Store & Reuse- They come with small clips that you can also leave on when microwaving so you won’t have a mess. Store them with the clips somewhere out of the way until your next treatment. Recommended use is once a week.

Availability- You can purchase both of these sets from the gLOVE Treat website here.

 photo gLOVETreatHandampFootParaffinwaxtreatmentreviewgiveaway01_zps22070aa5.jpg

Let’s break down the reason I really enjoyed both of these product & I’ll throw in some tips because I’m just that great, okay? I love that these are absolutely affordable treatments for me. If you break down the cost, you’re looking at $40 for one month which is 4 uses. That’s only $10 a pop! If you have dryness on your hands or feet & have looked at salon treatments before then you probably already know that’s a bargain & a half. I also found the treatment very relaxing & could really see the results afterwards- even in the days to come. The photo above is of my nice (now smooth!) hand 2 days after my treatment in between doing dishes & typing all day. I just had to stop & snap a picture, it is that impressive!

 photo gLOVETreatHandampFootParaffinwaxtreatmentreviewgiveaway02_zps9b3de195.jpg

My Tips:

– Definitely use some kind of socks or towel with the booties! Both the gloves & the booties are rather large because they’re one size fits all (which is awesome because you’re getting a ton of product!) but this helps seal in more of the heat during treatment. Note Cobo above telling me how nice my booties smell beneath my mismatched socks. I know- I’m stylish.

– Apply after removing polish & cleansing hands/feet. The oils will really help treat dry nails & will help with texture issue. Most people don’t even realize their nails/cuticles are dry until this time of year but this will fix that!

– If you have long nails (hopefully on your hands…sheesh) have something to clean beneath your nails after the treatment like an orange stick or cuticle pusher. This will also help with your nail beds if you push cuticles afterwards.

–  Apply before bed so your skin can really soak up all of the residual oils. Obviously you can do it anytime you want but I found it most relaxing after I had brushed my teeth & washed my face so I knew I didn’t really have to do anything else for the night!

– Convince spouse they need to rub your feet or else it won’t feel enough like a spa treatment. I’m just kidding but if you can con yours into it like I did mine then you’re totally set.

 photo Glove-Treat-for-Hands-and-Feet-Bundle2-510x652_zpse9b1245b.jpg

Now onto the giveaway! Thanks so much to Deanna Montrose who is the creator & founder of gLOVE Treat! I’ll be giving away a gLOVE Treat Enhanced Paraffin Wax Hand & Foot Treatment (that’s two different treatments, 8 in total!) to TWO winners! This giveaway is US only. Good luck everyone! XO

I also have freckles (oh, you didn’t know? ha.) so sometimes too full coverage & I can look like a completely different person & too light & all I notice are my freckles. I love my freckles, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes just uhg. When I was given the opportunity to work with the oh-so-famous Temptu & try out one of their Temptu Airbrush Makeup Kits to try out. Crown Brush HD Cosmetic Brush Set with Mirror & Tweezer Review

December 4, 2013 By StephanieLouise 232Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Fcrown-brush-hd-cosmetic-brush-set-with.htmlCrown+Brush+HD+Cosmetic+Brush+Set+with+Mirror+%26+Tweezer+Review2013-12-04+12%3A58%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F12%2Fcrown-brush-hd-cosmetic-brush-set-with-mirror-tweezer-review.html

 photo CrownBrushHDVeganBrushSetpurpleReview02_zpsa638ce63.jpg
PR Sample. Ifabbo partner.

I love a great set of brushes…especially if they are in some shade of purple.I’ve been buying Crown Brush products for years after first seeing them at IMATS LA a few years ago. I always hit their booth since they have a crazy huge variety & very reasonable prices. Even my mom has picked up some brushes & she is a brush minimalist! I also use their brush cleaner which smells a bit like lemon cakes. When iFabbo gave me the opportunity to try & then review the Crown Brush HD Cosmetic Brush Set with Mirror & Tweezer I jumped at it & am now ready to share!

 photo CrownBrushHDVeganBrushSetpurpleReview01_zps1b030fb0.jpg

First let me tell you what this set contains: a set of tweezers, Detail Liner, Chisel Shadow, Crease Blender, Deluxe Contour, Tapered Blush, and Pro Powder & a zip around case which has a mirror. My set is purple with purple tips but there is also an orange set & a blue one both of which have coordinating colored tips. Cute.

These brushes are all vegan friendly, and can be used to apply liquids, creams, and powders. They are all also made with high grade synthetic fiber & after washing each of them at least twice I haven’t had any issues with shedding or the color on the brush tips fading or staining. The tweezers are actually pretty nice quality, perfect for applying lashes when traveling.

 photo CrownBrushHDVeganBrushSetpurpleReview03_zps9468ac67.jpg

The Detail Liner Brush just isn’t my cup of tea. I find it small for eyeshadow but too big for gel or actual eyeliner. I’m actually trying to figure this one out still since I line thinner eyeliner personally. I’m wondering if it will make a nice lip brush? It is soft but firm & flares a bit at the end while most of my liners come to a more narrow point. The Crease Blender Brush is a nice size & softness, perfect for blending the crease shade. I’ve actually been using this almost daily, it really has a nice shape for my small eyes. The Chisel Shadow Brush has a similar story, nice softness & size. I’ve been using this more to apply & lightly fan out cream shadows.

For face brushes, the Deluxe Contour just barely made the cut. I couldn’t decide if it was more of an eye brush (which I have loads of) or meant for face. I decided face. I used it to apply a matte contour to my hollows & it worked quite nicely. Very soft & easy to add color as needed. The Tapered Blush Brush is a surprise because it is quite dense which means it can really load on the product! I think I would be able to use this for foundation in a pinch too. The Pro Powder Brush wasn’t a love match for me unfortunately. When I do wear powder I need a way bigger & fluffier (less full) brush. I did use this to apply a bit of bronzer to my outter hairline though & I think you could also swing a highlighter.

While this set isn’t a slam dunk for me personally, there are some awesome brushes here. I think this would be a really nice gift too, it even comes in a case so they’ve done most of the work! You can purchase this set from Crown Brush here.

Victoria’s Secret Sparkle & Shine Shimmer Kiss Flavored Gloss Review & Swatches

I bought it. Affiliate links.

I could tell you that I have enough lipgloss which to most people I likely do. Not for me though! I absolutely love the tube style glosses from Victoria’s Secret & have been using them for ages. One of my favorite glosses of all time is from their line but was discontinued (RIP Cupquake) so I’m constantly looking for something to fill my broken heart. I believe the Victoria’s Secret Shimmer Kiss Flavored Glosses are limited edition for the holiday season & I went ahead & picked up all 6. These are super shimmery/glittery but I like that so if you don’t…well these won’t be for you! Keep reading to see what I think!
From Victoria’s Secret: Shimmery color and delicious shine create the sexiest gloss ever. It’s a grab-and-go makeup essential that’s perfect for the holiday season.

Left to right we have Victoria’s Secret Sparkle & Shine Shimmer Kiss Flavored Gloss in Berry Flashy (super glitzy deeper berry), Golden Caramel (super glitzy fine gold), Spotlight Vanilla (iridescent & pink ultra fine shimmer), Sparklemint (holiday red with flashy red shimmer), Sweetest Bling (light peachy pink ultra fine pink shimmer), & Shiny Cherry ( Light cherry red/pink with pink shimmer).

 photo VictoriasSecretsparkleandshineshimmerkissflavoredglossesforholiday2013swatchesreview02_zps65106618.jpg

My very favorite shades are Berry Flashy, Golden Caramel, & Sparklemint & they’re all definitely holiday-esque. I’ve been looking for a nice fine shimmer that is gold to top some random shades with & this one looks & smells lovely. Sparklemint is a shimmering red…& absolutely lovely. Berry Flashy is my absolute favorite & super flashy indeed. I think I need to buy a backup! I love the other shades but I don’t always love cherry reds on me & the lighter shades are more dupeable. I love the light topper shades so if you don’t have any then you might consider trying these in the center of your lip. Cute lace packaging detail at the top of these tubes too right?

 photo VictoriasSecretsparkleandshineshimmerkissflavoredglossesforholiday2013swatchesreview05_zps9cf08eb2.jpg

I’ve been wearing these a lot the last week to test them out & I can’t tell much of a difference on my lips from the original line (check that out here) feel wise but they are definitely more glitzy! All of these shades smell different (see the names for the scents!) & amazing, again, I won’t force you to buy them if you don’t like yummy smelling, glitzy glosses. They are a bit sticky but that doesn’t bother me personally. I absolutely love these & wish they were permanent!

Victoria’s Secret has these available online for $9 each but they always have a 5 for $20 sale so I suggest taking advantage of that!

Have you tried out these holiday shades? What are your favorite tube-type lip glosses? Anything catch your eye?

Are you excited for my 5 Days of Giveaways kick off post? I decided Mark Hill would be the perfect starting point because these 3 products will get your hair absolutely ready for the holiday/party season! Mark Hill has created a new haircare line to me personally but it has been very popular over in the UK! Mark Hill himself is a famous celebrity hairdresser who has worked with clients such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, & even the royal family! Talk about big names right? I was super excited to try out some products from the Big Night Out line from Mark Hill which preps clean hair for styling! Keep reading to find out what I think & enter to win your own set of products!
“I’ve spent more than 15 years creating a range of hair care products that are of such high quality that they are used every day in my salon. To bring an effective, yet affordable range to the U.S. is absolutely a dream come true,” says Mark Hill in a press release.

 photo MarkHillBigNightOutHaircareReviewampGiveaway022_edited-1_zpsb6d5cd72.jpg

I feel like I’ve been looking for this type of line all my life: A line designed to not only wash/clean my hair but allows me to style it right after! Normally I literally plan around events (yes, pen & paper plan!) so that I can have at least second day hair to work with. As pretty as my hair is clean & freshly washed it just doesn’t want to do anything. Like…at all. It wants to just be hair. It looks slightly frizzy, floppy, & just like tons of thick hair. No pretty wave, no working with styling tools, & definitely doesn’t look how I want it to. This line is meant to give you the freshness of clean hair with the manageability of second day hair.

I started with Mark Hill Big Night Out Get Ready to Party! Pre Styling Shampoo (because I wash my hair like most people I suppose!) & immediately liked the scent. It is very soft, slightly floral, & doesn’t linger. If you’re going to be styling your hair & adding more product to it sometimes a heavy scent can mingle & become somewhat offensive. This shampoo is quite thin & is meant to prep your hair for styling. As I had hoped, it removed buildup, cleansed my hair, & didn’t leave it feeling stripped. If you’re looking for a super rich or super softening shampoo then this isn’t it, the whole point is to create a starting line for hair styling.

Following up the shampoo is the Mark Hill Big Night Out Get the Party Started! Pre Styling Conditioner. This also comes packaged like the shampoo & has a similar scent. I find this to be quite a light conditioner which I assume is the point: detangle & moisturize without going overboard & making hair un-styleable. Right? Right. So this does a very nice job, I have very thick long hair & it helped to detangle without being too hydrating. I personally can’t go without conditioner so this was a very pleasant surprise!

The last product I have is the Mark Hill Big Night Out Only Takes a Minute! 60 Second Detox Gloss Treatment. I think this is something really special, especially with only taking one minute. This does come in a smaller tube but it also takes very little time so does that balance out? I have VERY long & VERY thick hair but it is also fine so treatments can sometimes be finicky for me. I tend to leave them in as long as possible in the shower/bath. This one minute treatment seemed to do the trick though! You use this instead of conditioner so it takes a lot less time, smells a bit stronger than the other two, & is much thicker. I tried not to use too much (I have a habit of really laying down the treatments!) & it did leave my hair shinier & it also felt conditioner while still being able to style it!

Overall I’m very happy with this trio! For me personally, this isn’t something I’d use every day but before a big event or when I have product buildup & still have things to do this is perfection! I’m really impressed, why hasn’t anyone else come out with this type of invention? This would have been so amazing back when I was a cheerleader or for proms! Even better? You can purchase this line (& other Mark Hill lines, he has quite a few I hope to try!) from Walgreens! How awesome is that?

To launch my 5 Days of Giveaways you can win this line! There will be one lucky winner! Please note that this is limited to the US & they cannot ship to PO Boxes as the company will be shipping this directly. Thanks so much to Mark Hill for this awesome opportunity to win, just enter using the rafflecopter widget below!!! Good luck everyone! XO

Let’s take a peek inside my November 2013 Glossybox!:

Emite Makeup Micronized Eye Shadow in Dams– This eyeshadow is ridiculously black! I mean, to a crazy degree! I swatched it below with the brush provided & then on my finger as well. SO black & SO pigmented! I haven’t compared my black eyeshadows in a long time…I might need to do that again soon!

Jelly Pong Pong 2 in 1 Eyeliner & Shadow Pencil– I’m a bit confused with this pencil…I have no idea what shade it is! I can’t find it on the pencil anywhere & I doubt the only shade they have is this deep green? Either way, it is really pretty & will make a lovely eyeshadow base! Love the shimmer & smoky look to it.

Mastey Color Protection Color Protecting Leave-In Oil Treatment– This is a nice big sample, 2 fl oz of oil! I don’t love the packaging of this sample, I definitely appreciate having a glass bottle with a dropper now! No big deal because this is a sample but just something to note! This smells SO good & somewhat floral.

Nicka K New York Professional Eyeshadow Brush– This is a blending eyeshadow brush from a brand I’ve never tried before, thanks Glossybox for something out of the norm! I personally like boxes that include a variety of brands I already love & new brands to check out. Anyway, this is a really lightweight brush made of “quality pony hair”. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a pong hair brush before but it is really soft but still has the perfect density to pick up eyeshadow & actually blend into the crease.

The Aloe Source Jojoba Radiance Cleansing Polish-This is a sulfate-free cleanser that is supposed to remove makeup, oil, & impurities. On top of that it has jojoba microbeads & alpha & beta hydroxy acids to exfoliate. It promises to nourish & soothe skin with aloe vera & says it is suitable for all skin types. It smells like a regular cleanser & looks like a clear gel with white micro beads in it.

Here are the swatches! On the left is the very finest line I could get next to a thicker line of the Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner. Next to that is a quick swipe of the Emite Micronized Eyeshadow in Dams using the brush & then a swipe using my full finger. Look how black it is right?

If you’re interested in signing up for Glossybox USA it is a monthly subscription service for only $21 a month. I have posted lots of reviews so check them out for reference!

I liked this box, definitely some fun new items to play with including some full sizes! Do you receive Glossybox? What did you get this month?

Laura Mercier Petite Baked Eye Colour Bonbons in Emerald Trio Review, Swatches, & Eye Look!

Eyeshadow: The kryptonite for me personally. I love blushes, highlighters, lip products…everything pretty much but lately I’ve come to realize eyeshadows are my “thing”. When the Laura Mercier Petite Baked Eye Colour Bonbons in the Emerald Trio (which is limited edition!) arrived on my doorstep…oh man I can’t even express how excited I was to see it in person. Pictures can’t even do these incredible shades justice…but I tried! Also, I did an eye look which I’m totally in love with using these shades & I think it turned out lovely! Keep reading to check everything out!

The trio of baked eyeshadows come housed in a sleek & very Laura Mercier-esque rectangle case which also has a mirror. On the back you have your basic information as well as the 3 shade names in the palette which is handy to refer to. Like I said, this is a limited edition trio but it is housed in the classic type packaging.

From Laura Mercier: Dress up your holiday look this season with Laura Mercier’s Petite Baked Eye Colour Bonbons – Multi-Finish. Featuring three Baked Eye Colours in a range of finishes – from matte to shimmer – this petite and portable palette is the perfect way to take your look from day to night. For an even wash of colour, apply dry, or for more vibrant shimmer, simply dampen brush with water and apply wet.

From left to right we have Aqua, Malachite, & Emerald. The first photo above…yeah that’s the opposite. Sorry about that ya’ll I had to hold it funny for a naturally lit shot. It is indeed winter here & I take what I can get! Aren’t they just gorgeous though? The shimmer on these…yum!

Swatches left to right: Aqua, Malachite, & Emerald. (dampened, no primer)

I chose to swatch these wet so you can see them intense plus I actually like them wet a bit more for the crazy pigment. Dry they’re lovely as well but they are much lighter. Aqua is an ultra light blue frost with a bit of micro glitter, I love this as a highlighter used wet or dry. Malachite is ridiculously lovely. I see the base as like a classic blue jean with golden shimmer that creates nearly a duochrome. Emerald is a deep emerald green shimmer with amazing pigmentation that looks smoky & absolutely packed with gorgeous light catching shimmer.

 photo LauraMercierEmeraldEyeTrioReview2013EyeTutorialDIYEyeLook012_zps11aa5056.jpg

I wanted to show a look that was a bit more dramatic (obviously these are awesome used separately or dry) so I went with a wet application over a primer. The only extra eyeshadow I used was a neutral, matte shade that matches my skintone for my highlight shade.

 photo LauraMercierEmeraldEyeTrioReview2013EyeTutorialDIYEyeLook04_zps1b3c5f61.jpg

I also used my Laura Mercier Baked Matte Powder in Highlight which I reviewed here as my highlight. I’m wearing Laura Mercier Nouveau Weightless Lip Color in Coy which I reviewed along with other shades from the line here. I rock this lip color quite often in my day to day life! You’re probably sick of me wearing this beloved highlight like all the time but I don’t care because it is amazing!

The Laura Mercier Petite Baked Eye Colour Bonbons in Emerald Trio is available for only $25 which I think is quite nice for such lovely shades. They also have an Amethyst Trio & a Bronze Trio available, also limited edition. You can purchase this trio from the Laura Mercier website, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, & wherever you are able to find Laura Mercier limited edition collections.

What do you think of this trio? Would you rock this kind of look for the holidays? I think I might use Emerald as a smoky, effortless eyeliner!

EOS Dupes? Walgreens Comes Out With A Cousin to the Famous Balms

November 26, 2013 By StephanieLouise 239Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F11%2Feos-dupes-walgreens-comes-out-with.htmlEOS+Dupes%3F+Walgreens+Comes+Out+With+A+Cousin+to+the+Famous+Balms2013-11-26+19%3A40%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F11%2Feos-dupes-walgreens-comes-out-with-a-cousin-to-the-famous-balms.html

I bought it. Affiliate links.

If you have been reading my blog for awhile then you know I have EOS lip balms in about every room. I use them & so does my husband, they’re just so handy. I’ve reviewed lots of them in the past like the Limited Edition Alice in Wonderland Set, Medicated Tangerine, & some originals. When I first heard about the EOS possibly being duped by Walgreens brand I was SUPER excited! I immediately sought them out & both Ryan & I have some thoughts!

 photo WalgreensEOSDupeampComparreChapsticklipBalm03_zps5c937f1d.jpg

First of all, the packaging is similar while still being different. The EOS balm comes rounds while the Walgreens has a flattened top. The top is also different with a flattened Walgreens sticker on top in various shades. The side also has a striped grip instead of the EOS thumb type groove. Similar though no? The exterior matches the flavor/scent inside much like EOS but the Walgreens brand feels harder while the EOS has a slight softened feel. Overall similar but not quite the same right?

 photo WalgreensEOSDupeampComparreChapsticklipBalm01_zps13e382ad.jpg

Let’s talk about the product inside but that is what really counts with a lip balm no? Although these look similar to the EOS balms the texture, wear, & scents are very different. My husband & I both agree that these are slicker, a bit more greasy but not uncomfortable, & don’t last quite as long as the EOS balms. While we don’t find them as moisturizing…we’re both wild about these scents. The scents I have above are Watermelon (green), Strawberry (pink), Berry Frost (purple), Candy Cane (red), & Sugar Cookie (white). Watermelon & Strawberry were both found in the regular EOS/Walgreens lip balm location near medications but the 3 holiday (& I’m going to assume limited edition?) were located in a little bowl by the pharmacy & not hanging up with the others. I got a great deal on these & although $2.99 each isn’t bad I happened upon them when they were buy 1 get 1 free. Nice.

So are these EOS dupes? Nope! But they are a similar concept! & the holiday scents/flavors in Candy Candy (EXTREMELY tingling peppermint!) & Sugar Cookie (nom) are amazing so I highly recommend finding them if you can. Ryan likes Berry Frost because it smells like berry/grape. The Watermelon is my hands down favorite although Strawberry is nice too. I’m just a sucker for Watermelon, we even have a Watermelon one in the car now!

I don’t see these available on the Walgreens website yet but I’m sure they’ll be there soon! I think if you dig flavored or very scented balms these are a nice treat!
