This month Beauty Box 5 brought along quite the surprise- a product from Revlon?! I’m definitely not used to seeing big drugstore brands in my boxes so this was a special treat! With a box full of great products this was one of my favorite months. Like usual, Beauty Box 5 also hits the beauty marks in different categories as well.

Textured polishes are still all the rage (to my personal delight!) so today I bring you 3 shades from the SinfulColors Full Throttle Collection for Summer 2014. All of the shades are textured with a “rubberized” texture which is unlike any of the other textures I’ve tried. Keep reading to check these babies out! [Read more…]

Too Faced came out with these beautiful palettes a long time ago…& I’ve just been sitting around on them. I know- shame on me. Both palettes are beautifully packaged, have nice pigmentation, & are oh-so-summery! Keep reading to check out the Too Faced A La Mode Palette & the Bonjour Soleil Palette! [Read more…]

Finger Paints Enchanted Mermaid Tail Textured Nail Collection Swatches & Review
So let me start out with- these polishes won’t be for everyone. In fact a lot of the reviews I’ve read so far say “OH NO JUST DON’T” & I’m barely paraphrasing. This post is awkward to write because on one hand I love to promote originality but on the other I’m not sure if I’d wear these shades raw without top coat. That being said- how about we see their gorgeous-ness with top coat? Keep reading to see tons of photos of the Finger Paints Enchanted Mermaid Collection for Summer 2014!
First lets address texture. I have NEVER had a polish like this- & I really love the texture trend. I actually posted a photo in a polish group I’m in as a prequel & people were divided there as well. Some said it looked just like scales as intended while others said it could actually pass for mold/fungus on my nails. #NotCute ya’ll. This texture really does look like scales very close up in my opinion but from a normal vision distance I think it looks off. I believe each shade has clear glitter inside that is thicker to give it texture- granted that is only a guess from removing each one & examining my cotton rounds. Each shade is also a duchrome.
The most important thing about this post is to NOT judge the raggedy-ness of my hands right now. I have allergies & eczema…& my cuticles are totally in that teenage stage of rebelling not matter what I do for them. Don’t hate on me- I know. Seriously- I blow these pictures up to a gigantic size where it is very noticeable. Also- I didn’t color correct ANY of these photos even to make my skintone more accurate. I wanted you to be able to see how different these shades look in shade VS sun & how molten-ish they appear.
Each shade is 2 coats then the photos with the Out the Door top coat have….well topcoat!
Finger Paints Sea Temptress- A highly pearled white with a green duochrome & mermaid tail texture. I needed 3 coats but only did 2- definitely should have done three!
Finger Paints Tales of Love- A highly pearled brightened blue with tons of teal shimmer & mermaid tail texture. This one is very water-eque & pretty.
Finger Paints Sailor’s Lure- A metallic blurple (blue + purple) with a strong blue shimmer & mermaid tail texture. Blurples are seriously so hard to capture on film.
Finger Paints Underwater Enchantress- A metallic sage green with a murky golden sheen & mermaid tail texture. (This one is my favorite!!)
The scaly finish is hard to see in the far away shots so hopefully you can see them in some of my closer pictures. I actually like these with top coat quite a bit although it really sucked it up. I love the base of these shades & honestly wish they weren’t textured this way- but they are. I don’t know how often I’ll wear them but when I do I think I will definitely be wearing top coat for that “molten” look.
Have you got an opinion on this collection? Would you rock “mermaid tail” texture?
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector Concentrate Cream Demo & Review
If you have undereye circles or discoloration then you likely know that the struggle is real. When a product promises to cancel out dark circles…well color me dark undereyed & intrigued! Today I’m breaking down what I think of the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector Concentrate Cream & show you a before & after so you can see what I mean. Because…I’m pretty sure that’s what most of you want to see! Keep reading to check out my thoughts!
So when you’re looking at concealers & correctors you’re actually looking at two different types of products. In this case we have a corrector so the peach shade cancels out blue/purple shades. This is an ultra-creamy formula in a pot form & the product itself comes in three shades. My shade is light. This product is to neutralize, brighten, erase dark circles, & even out age spots. Because this is an It Cosmetics product it is also packed to the brim with excellent ingredients for your skin for brightening, anti-aging peptides, hydrolyzed collagen, & hyaluronic acid.
Here’s my before & after- sorry you can’t see the purple as vibrantly as it looks in real life. Le sigh. I have found that this is super creamy but to really get it to meld into my skin I like using my fingers. The heat from your fingers really helps it meld into the skin better. Because it is so creamy though I recommend using a setting powder- personally I like a light dusting of translucent. This helps to prevent creasing & it will last all day without getting dry or cakey looking.
All in all- this product knows exactly what it is doing. I really like the overall effect & it definitely helps to color correct my eye area. You can pick up your very own It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector Concentrate Cream from ULTA & the It Cosmetics website.
Butter London Wink Cream Eyeshadows in Randy & Brassed Off Swatches + Review
If there’s anything I want to be fast with in the morning it is my eye makeup.I’m a big fan of cream eyeshadows & have quickly become a huge fan of these options from Butter London- in fact I reviewed some other shades here & here! Today I have the Butter London Wink Cream Eyeshadows in Randy & Brassed Off to show you & they’re gorgeous! Just keep reading to check them out!
I use my Butter London Wink Cream Eyeshadow in Twigged a ton (review here!) because it is a gorgeous neutral but it is very cool toned. These two shades lean more warm but Randy honestly can lie somewhere in-between.
The packaging on these eyeshadows is simple & sleek- with a doe foot applicator. Sometimes I apply it directly to my eyelid & other times I dab it onto a synthetic brush to blend it out. For full pigmentation I recommend applying a layer, letting it dry, then applying one on top.
Brassed Off is a golden copper shimmer. Randy is a slightly taupe-y leaning caramelized bronze shimmer. Both shades are super gorgeous & Brassed Off even looks a bit on the metallic side. They both apply on the more opaque shade & look quite even.
Have you tried any of the Butter London Wink Cream Eyeshadows? I think these might be limited edition so if you’re loving the look of them I suggest snapping them up!
Lip Monthly Unboxing Video, Swatches, & Review for June 2014
I’m pretty excited to bring you my 2nd box (& the 2nd box ever from Lip Monthly since they’re new!) today for their June 2014 subscription. This is a monthly beauty subscription for only $10 a month that focuses mainly on lips + one extra that isn’t lip related. You also get one more lip product in your box if you do a review/unboxing video & send it to them as well! Good stuff! Keep reading to see what was inside & my final thoughts after trying them out!
Like I said in the video- I didn’t actually have a card. However they did email me one so that’s what I’m showing above. It says this box is summer based & you can see below about getting a freebie each month for doing a video review.
Inside my LipMonthly box for June 2014-
Purple Lab Huge Lips Skinny Hips in Red Sole-This was just an odd gloss all around. Lots of packaging but I wan’t blown away with the product. While it does tingle my lips- the smell & taste are REALLY hard to get past. It smells like fruit concentrate which is something I never liked & tastes off. It does feel really smooth & fills in lines though so I’d be interested in trying another tube in case mine was just personally off.
LOL Lots of Love Lipstick in Dance with the Devil– Another brand I’m not familiar with- but this is a nice red! It isn’t super smooth or moisturizing but the color is great. Plus the name is adorable- I’ll take it.
Mary-Kate & Ashley Lip Foils in Sunrise– I haven’t seen these before & I honestly was surprised to see them in here. I think this line was discontinued? I haven’t used them in ages! Also- a bit odd that they didn’t have names on them individually. I will say, however, that I really like them! I’m not normally a metallic loving gal but these are really lovely! & comfortable to wear!
Lipology Anti-Feathering Stick– I love clear liners & bases like this. They help keep lip color exactly where it should be without feathering. i prefer smaller tips but this definitely gets the job done.
Essie Naturally Clean 100% Natural Purifying Hand Treatment– Definitely not a fan of this- super sticky! It says to apply a pea-sized amount which I did but then it got really tacky. Very strange. I’m not really sure what this treatment would accomplish. But now I know- I might have actually bout this in the store.
Swatches left to right: Purple Lab Huge Lips Skinny Hips in Red Sole, LOL Lots of Love Lipstick in Dance with the Devil, & the Mary-Kate & Ashley Lip Foils in Sunrise.
What do you guys think of this box? I found it interesting that the last one (which I reviewed here!) was more pink toned & this one is more red. If this trend continues…maybe next month I’ll get a sweet orange or purple! Love it! Anyway- for only $10 I think this is an amazing value & definitely feel like I got a great selection.
What are your favorite lip products? What color lip products are you digging the most this summer?
Glossybox USA for Jun 2014 Stars & Stripes Edition + 4th July Nail Art!
I love a nice holiday-themed box & red, white, & blue really makes me smile! My husband is in the military & this is actually the ONE holiday we’ve been able to spend together without deployments or job related absence! We really try to be super grateful for that! Anyway- back to Glossybox! I have a fun Stars & Stripes Edition to share with you today so keep reading to see what was inside!
Here’s the card included in my box- super cute! It was a nice change from the usual white backgrounds as well! I wouldn’t mind seeing more personality like this month to month.
In my box for June 2014-
Strange Beautiful Colorbloc Nail Polish Duo- This duo is especially designed for Glossybox- & the polishes were great! I really love that it is travel-friendly because it is airline approved size-wise as well. Plus- it is really cute!
Rusk Texture Dry Finishing Spray- I’m really upset this was in my box….because now I need to go out & buy the full size. This is dry shampoo + light hold texturizing spray minus any residue. I need this in my life- for real. Totally picking it up my next shopping trip!
Ayres Patagonia Body Butter- This is a nice sized sample from a brand I’ve never tried! The scent is a bit floral & has some nice moisturizing ingredients.
Camille Beckman Platinume Gold Imperial Repair Hand Therapy- I am really picky about hand creams & have some solid favorites- but this one was wonderful. I love the grapefruit & lemongrass scent especially- so nice. It contains nice oils & such but really did feel nice on my hands as well.
Sumita Beauty Champagne Eye Shadow Pencil- I am such a huge fan of long wear eyeshadow pencils & you’ll find quite a few reviews featuring them on this blog! This shade from Sumita is an excellent color for my stash & something I’d naturally gravitate towards. Very pretty base color.
– A mystery amount gift card to C. Wonder was also included but I am not familiar with the store (yet!) & I haven’t checked my gift card. Always happy to check out a new store though!
& my favorite part of this whole box…the nail art I created for the 4th of July! Glossybox sent me some goodies to create a fun look & here’s what I came up with! Looks like a good time right?
What are you rocking for this 4th of July on your nails or as your makeup look? Any products here that interest you?
