Can I just start off by saying how much I love this eyeshadow look? I mean really, I do intensely. Everything about this says summer to me & it just makes me so darn happy! I think the Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette (which I reviewed with swatches here!) is an awesome palette so I thought I’d show you my favorite look yet! Plus I’ll run down everything I’m wearing here as well if you keep reading!

On my eyes:
Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette: Coral Crush on the lid, Plumeria in the crease, Seashell as a highlight, & Chocolate sun run along the lashline. These shadows are very easy to over blend so I definitely used the patting motion & I think primer is probably necessary.
Too Faced Eyeshadow Primer.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes in Black for the water line & brown on the lashline.
Covergirl Clump Crusher in Waterproof Black.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes in Black.

On my brows:
Milani Brow Kit
Billion Dollar Brows Setting Gel

 photo TooFacedPeachampPinkSummerEyesPaletteTutorial04_zpsacec5f41.jpg

On my Face:
Revlon Naked Foundation in the 2nd lightest shade (sorry I can’t find it!)
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Curious

On my lips:
Milani Lipstick in Pink Punch

I love this look! What do you think? How do you wear your Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette? What other combos would you like to see? Check out my review & swatches here!

Sponsored by Jergens. All opinions are my own.

I love changing up my beauty with the seasons. The greiges of fall, metallics & earthy tones for winter, pastels in spring, bright shades in summer…it is jut too fun! Changing up my routine & colors is a natural progression of seasons for me but I think spring/summer are definitely my favorites! I love transitioning into the more cheery color palette because I grew up in California…winter/fall just wasn’t all that extreme. Now that I’m in Nebraska….well lets just say we appreciate good whether a ton more now!

Crabtree & Evelyn Somerset Meadow Eau de Toilette Review

May 11, 2013 By StephanieLouise 447Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fcrabtree-evelyn-somerset-meadow-eau-de.htmlCrabtree+%26+Evelyn+Somerset+Meadow+Eau+de+Toilette+Review2013-05-11+14%3A07%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fcrabtree-evelyn-somerset-meadow-eau-de-toilette-review.html

PR Sample. Affiliate links.

Spring & summer are easily my favorite times of year for fragrance. Growing up in Southern California I was spoiled with sunshine, tropical scents, & very little weather fluctuation year round. Crabtree & Evelyn has released a new scent called Somerset Meadow & it is the perfect spring accessory. I crave tart, fruity, & springy florals all the time now closely followed by tropical & summery scents. To kick off spring (because it is just barely considered spring here…it snowed less than a week ago!) I have been wearing this scent almost daily & it just makes me smile each time… Spring has finally sprung!

 photo CrabtreeampEvelynSomersetMeadowsFragrance01_zps2367ba3e.jpg

 photo CrabtreeampEvelynSomersetMeadowsFragrance02_zps93ef269d.jpg
Green freshness, floral beauty and fruity delight.   Why settle for one when you can have all three? Our Somerset Meadow Eau de Toilette blends the uplifting scent of wildflower fields with dewy green notes of water lily and ivy, along with delicious hints of blackberry and bergamot.

  •  Spray bottle delivers a gentle mist of fragrance
  •  Formulated without mineral oil, parabens or propylene glycol

Can we please talk about how positively lovely this packaging is? Find me a scent that looks more like the definition of spring! Beautiful, floral, & spring the packaging completely embodies the fragrance itself. I love the way the box kind of unfolds to reveal the gift inside.

 photo CrabtreeampEvelynSomersetMeadowsFragrance03_zpse120e8f6.jpg
 photo CrabtreeampEvelynSomersetMeadowsFragrance05_zps6417f43f.jpg

This scent leans tart on me & I think that is my very favorite thing about it. It has this slight zip of energy that lasts well into wear. I love the story behind this scent & it definitely had a wonderful description. While still feminine, it smells spring after a light, warm spring rain. All crisp & fresh with green notes blended perfectly with florals. I don’t usually go for scents that lean more green so this was a wonderful surprise.

Behind the Somerset Meadow Scent- Follow the wild and beautiful trail to Somerset Meadow, where the lush countryside unfurls into rolling green meadows ablaze with wildflowers, their fragrance carried on gentle breezes that linger over meandering streams and waft amongst the buds and blossoms of springtime. Upliftingly fresh and undeniably feminine, Somerset Meadow captures the flourishing splendour of a perfect spring day. The fresh scent of wildflowers mingles with dewy green notes of ivy and water lily, whilst fruity accords of blackberry and bergamot add a hint of sweetness.

In the end, this has me longing for a jaunt across the pond because apparently it smells divine over there. I’ve found myself reaching for this all week so I knew I needed to share the love! What are your favorite spring scents? What says spring to you?

Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette Swatches & Review

May 10, 2013 By StephanieLouise 448Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Ftoo-faced-summer-eyes-palette-swatches.htmlToo+Faced+Summer+Eyes+Palette+Swatches+%26+Review2013-05-10+22%3A48%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Ftoo-faced-summer-eyes-palette-swatches-review.html

 photo DSCN7997_zpsfee677dd.jpg

I bought it. Affiliate links.

I am so in love with Too Faced lately so I knew I had to pick up the new Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette. I passed on this palette last year & regretted it…boy am I glad I did! Now I get to have it in this nifty tin which I so prefer! This palette has some beautiful browns, perfect base shades, & some lovely pops of color. I’ll have an eyeshadow look coming up with this palette soon & if you follow me on Instagram (if not just look to the left!) then you have already seen a sneak peek!

 photo DSCN8000_zps266b23c4.jpg

Too Faced- Our hand-picked collection of nine summertime ready shadows are just the right addition to your faux bronzed glow, and fresh sunny highlights. These exclusive resort-inspired eye shadows will be your temptation to take a vacation. This palette is cruelty-free.

 photo DSCN8003_zpsb9a21ede.jpg

I love this tin & inside you’ll find 9 eyeshadows (3 of which are larger sized) & a get the look card. I like these cards but I prefer the mirror behind them! The Boudoir Eyes just came with the “Get the Look” card & no mirror so this was a happy surprise! This doesn’t come with primer or brushes.

 photo DSCN8009_zpsdcb8404c.jpg

 photo DSCN8015_zps0fdc68df.jpg

Swatches are over primer & they are in order as seen in the palette.

 photo DSCN8019_zpscbb85e94.jpg

Day: Seashell, Plumeria, & Cocoa Beach.

Seashell- Pastel peach with great coverage. Matte.
Plumeria- Medium girly pink shimmer. Nice pigmentation on this.
Cocoa Beach-Warm medium brown with golden shimmer.

 photo DSCN8018_zpsb12c1e44.jpg

Classic: Peach Fuzz, Coral Crush, & Chocolate Sun.

Peach Fuzz- Pale yellow/beige with fine gold glitter. Pretty but you’ll see the glitter more than pigmentation
Coral Crush- Orange leaning coral with gold glitter. I love this shade but wish it didn’t have gold glitter in it since 2 of the highlights have it as a main component.
Chocolate Sun- Very pigmented chocolate brown with gold glitter.

 photo DSCN8017_zps053b8c02.jpg

Fashion: Sunbeam, Mermaid, & Toasted Coconut.

Sunbeam- Pale yellow with gold glitter. Again, I see more glitter when I use it than pigmentation.
Mermaid- Shimmering deep, smoky turquoise. I like this shade a lot but I wish it was a bright shade.
Toasted Coconut- Warm shimmery brown. This isn’t a gold shimmer though which is nice.

I really love this palette but there are some things I’d change. I wish only one brown had the gold glitter since I could easily use the highlights to make them golden. Maybe one with a blue or green sheen would be cool? I also really love Coral Crush but again wish it didn’t have the gold glitter because I like to use “topper” shades for more options. Despite these things, I am very happy with this palette. The packaging is wonderful, it has a mirror inside, perfect for travel, great quality shades, everything about it is very nice! I’ll talk about how I apply these shadows in an upcoming post because there are some little tips!

Have you picked up the Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette yet? Do these shades say summer to you? Do you like the tins better than the original packaging?

Scunci Hair Chalking Kit Review & Giveaway!

May 10, 2013 By StephanieLouise 449Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fscunci-hair-chalking-kit-review-giveaway.htmlScunci+Hair+Chalking+Kit+Review+%26+Giveaway%212013-05-10+12%3A15%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fscunci-hair-chalking-kit-review-giveaway.html

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-01_zpsdff66a81.jpg

PR Sample.

I love color in my hair (planning on putting something more permanent in soon!) but hair chalking kits are starting to pop up here & there in all price ranges, shades, & setups so it is hard to choose just one! The Scunci Hair Chalk kit comes with 2 shades & an applicator that resembles a small hair straightener. With the phrase “Easy to use!” & ringing in under $10, you have to be curious to try it out right? Keep reading to find out what I think, how it looks, & enter for your chance to win one!

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-03_zps1d8bb766.jpg

These packs come in two shade options: Pink/Green & Purple/Coral. I’ll be keeping my eye out for the other duo but I have the Pink/Green option today. If you’ve never used hair chalk before, it is actually pretty easy & I found this method quite a bit less messy with this first application using the Scuni tool. To change colors all you have to do is slide the chalk out of the holder & slide the other shade in. I am a bit worried what will happen when I use the chalk down to a nub or if I crack it though. When/if that happens I’ll just place it between my palms & use it the way I normally use brick hair chalk I suppose!

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-02_zps4caffd41.jpg

Some things to remember about hair chalking:
– It will be messy but it will also wash off!
– Dampening hair will make the color significantly more intense.
– You can layer more chalk on if you want more vibrancy.
– I’ve found a touch of hairspray definitely helps color stay in.

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-Pink-02_zpsc1f35c96.jpg
 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-Pink-01_zps2e75ad8b.jpg

This black hair straightener-esque tool kind of works like pinchers grasping onto hair while you apply pressure. You can apply color pretty much however you want root to tips, streaks, just tips, ombre, etc. I went with bigger streaks so you can really see the color. There was a bit of tugging in some areas but that’s just the learning curve. I eventually found the right angle & twist motion.

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-Pink-and-Green-04_zps5bd2339b.jpg

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Kit-Pink-and-Green-01_zpsf1ce3363.jpg

Overall I didn’t find this difficult to use but I’ve also worked with hair color before. The pigmentation isn’t out of this world but it is buildable so I like it. I really liked both of these shades on me as well & I think they held up the same as other, more expensive hair chalking kits. This has me really looking out for the purple/coral type set since I think those shades would be really pretty together! I think this is really fun, especially for summer hair fun! I also think this would be easier to use on children since you have a bit more control. Who doesn’t want a bit more control when doing children’s hair?

 photo Scunci-Hair-Chalk-Giveaway_zpsba6945d5.jpg

I haven’t done a giveaway recently but I have a TON coming up & Scunci has offered to be the first! You’ll win the exact hair chalking kit I’ve reviewed here! Handcrafted in our Yorkshire studio out of the finest locally sourced leathers, we specialize in commissions and work with you to create exquisite bespoke pieces to meet your requirements.  Our classic  range is growing all the time with new designs, and comprise of large weekender totes and messenger bags to small clutch purses and washbags.  Our range for men features laptop bags, guitar and camera straps, smartphone and cuffs.   Travel accessories feature Passport Cases, Kindle, Ipad and Laptop sleeves.  Personalization is key, with embossing available on many items making them the perfect gift.  All orders are beautifully gift-wrapped in eco-papers with luxury ribbons in a colour of your choosing, and a personalised message can be added to your gift.
We will be adding a vegan range to our collection, coming soon.

 photo MagpieAccessoriesOrchidCameraStrap03_zpsc717e396.jpg

The camera strap I selected comes in many different patterns but naturally the Lime & Pink Orchid Buckled Camera Strap was the choice for me…although if the Gerald the Giraffe Buckled Camera Strap had been available when I was perusing I likely would have had an awful difficulty choosing! Giraffes are my favorite animal & it is positively adorable! If you don’t prefer the buckled options I also wanted to point out they have some with split rings & studs as well.

From Magpie Accessories:
A fabulous gift idea for the hard-to-buy-for photographer.
A lovely soft yet thick and sturdy leather has been useed to make this simple yet classic camera strap. It is pretty much waterproof, as it has a slight coating to the leather. You can also polish it with beeswax to make it extra waterproof.
* It is simply designed yet functional and comfortable.
* There is a antiqued brass buckle on each end of the strap which makes it even more secure to use.
* It works on old and new cameras just the same, digital or 35mm, and its strong and comfortable.
* Other colours available, please ask for more swatches to be sent to you.

 photo MagpieAccessoriesOrchidCameraStrap01_zps05f95e18.jpg

My camera strap arrived feeling luxe & soft. Magpie treats their leather with organic beeswax & organic conditioning sprays which also makes it splash proof which is great if you work outdoors & have it around your neck in the humid heat like I do. This slight sealant is supposed to last about 6 months & then they recommend you treating it again yourself.

 photo MagpieAccessoriesOrchidCameraStrapMain_zpsa09893f4.jpg

There is a different design on each side of the strap so I included all 4…& they’re all lovely of course.

So am I happy? No, I’m ecstatic. I have a bright, happy looking strap that makes me reach for my camera even more. It looks professional, practical, & much more me. Every time I reach for it I am instantly happy plus I can always find it no matter where I’ve set it down. It is beautiful & by supporting them you know you’re helping a small business. Support the creative or be destined to all look the same…& I definitely don’t want that!

You can purchase Magpie Accessories products from their site directly or for us US Etsy loving folks through their Etsy Shop. They also have quite a bit more goods on Etsy so be sure to check there first! & I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for the future vegan line, love that!

New Milani Shadow Eyez in Almond Cream, Sand Dunes, & Espresso Line Swatches, Reviews, + Comparisons

May 9, 2013 By StephanieLouise 451Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fnew-milani-shadow-eyez-in-almond-cream.htmlNew+Milani+Shadow+Eyez+in+Almond+Cream%2C+Sand+Dunes%2C+%26+Espresso+Line+Swatches%2C+Reviews%2C+%2B+Comparisons2013-05-09+12%3A58%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2013%2F05%2Fnew-milani-shadow-eyez-in-almond-cream-sand-dunes-espresso-line-swatches-reviews-comparisons.html

photo DSCN78112_zpsc1641267.jpgI absolutely love the Milani Shadow Eyez but a common complaint is “I want more neutrals!” & I’m definitely one of those hoping for more! Milani recently released a set of neutral shades called Naturally Chic but they’re all limited edition (BOO!) so I tried to choose some I knew I would use. I passed on a few shades: Golden Bronze, Cafe Au Lait, & Black Ink. I ended up picking up 3 shades & I’m really happy with them! I thought I’d compare them to some permanent jumbo eyeshadow sticks in my collection in case you wanted to get something similar or see what the difference was.

I sincerely love the formula of all the Milani Shadow Eyez pencils I own & use them as both eyeliners, eyeshadows, & sometimes as bases. I don’t have very oily lids but these last all day for me & I frequently use Champage Toast as my inner corner highlight. I really like this line & hope they made some of the neutrals permanent & maybe even come out with some more wild shades…like maybe a hot pink or a lilac?

These shades are all very creamy & pigmented. These blend nicely if you work quickly but they do completely set & become pretty much an immoveable force. Work fast!

Milani Shadow Eyez in Almond Cream- A matte vanilla/nude shade. I love this as a neutral base & it will help make eyes pop.

Milani Shadow Eyez in Sand Dunes- A soft champagne metallic. Pretty & different enough from my other highlights that I think it is a must have.

Milani Shadow Eyez in Espresso Lane- A rich matte brown. Possibly my favorite because it is so dark, rich, & just beautiful.

Left to right: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeliner in Nude & Milani Shadow Eyez in Almond Cream

 photo PicMonkeyCollagenude_zpsa0b4f08c.jpg

The Rimmel Scandal Eyeliner in Nude is my go-to shade to brighten up my eyes on the waterline so I was really excited to see a concealer-like shade to use as a  base. While very similar in texture, the
Milani shade is definitely cooler & more on the vanilla shade while the Rimmel has more yellow tones.

Left to right: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze & Milani Shadow Eyez in Espresso Lane

 photo PicMonkeyCollagedark_zps395127c8.jpg

There are clear differences here but I wanted to show them side by side in case you were looking for a non-matte version or had the Rimmel & wondered how they compare. Besides the obvious finish difference the Milani is also darker & more dense.

Left to right: Milani Shadow Eyez in Champagne Toast, Milani Shadow Eyez in Sand Dunes, & Pixi Catching Shadows Crayon in Beaming Reflection

 photo PicMonkeyCollagelight_zps4218d52a.jpg

I use the Milani Shadow Eyez in Champagne Toast all the time so I figured I couldn’t be the only one! Sand Dunes makes it look more rose gold. Sand Dunes is actually a bit thinner & more similar to the Pixi Pencil which I consider a thinner texture. You can build up the opacity it is just something I noted!

Left to right: Milani Liquid Eye Pencil in Black & Rimmel Scandal Eyes Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick in Blackmail

 photo DSCN7855_zpsd7630f82.jpg
I am not positive but I assumed the Milani Liquid Eye Pencil in Black is probably similar to the jumbo eyeshadow stick in Black Ink from this Limited Edition collection. Because the liner is pretty much the same creamy texture & sets the same…I’m just going on assumptions. If you like this liner (or are interested in Black Ink) Rimmel has a permanent jumbo eyeshadow pencil in their Scandal Eyes line in the shade Blackmail is pretty similar. They both set & wear the same for me. I think the Milani liner might be a hair darker but they are very similar!

Overall I really love these shades! I might go pick up the other 2 shades besides Black Ink because I think the Rimmel Scandal Eyes is a close enough match for a black. Have you picked any of these shades up? Are you planning too? You can purchase these from the Milani website if you can’t find them in a store near you as well!

This is a brand completely new to the blog & I am so glad to have the opportunity to share it with you! I have a blush, a lipgloss, & 2 eyeshadows to show you today & I think you’re really going to like them! Great pigmentation, sleek packaging, & wearable shades? Yes! We See Beauty also donates a portion of all makeup sales so you can feel good stocking up too!

 photo blush_zps6db4aa9e.jpg

We See Beauty Blush in Geisha- This shade was love at first swatch. This looks more peach online but it is much more pink in person. This is a soft pink toned coral shade with very nice pigmentation. This has a satin finish but it looks really natural. Gorgeous!

 photo lippies_zps0f4163d5.jpg

We See Beauty Luminous Lip Gloss in Akoya Pearl #5702- This is a soft pearly rose gold nude with peachy shimmer. I have really become attached to this gloss! It smells/tastes of peppermint oil & applies nice & thin for an even application. The wand has a rounded, flattened shape that makes application easy. This gloss lasts a good amount of time (I think because it is thin!) but it is packed with the shimmer so you really don’t need much & it lasts longer because it isn’t slipping around either. I really like this shade in the middle of the lip to draw light!

The swatches are the gloss on its own on the left & over Milani Red Label on the right since I usually wear it over lipstick.

 photo eyeshadows_zpsf4b5f381.jpg
 photo eyeshadowsss_zpsa2d709ff.jpg
We See Beauty Eyeshadows in Cork & Bentonite Clay- These shadows are lovely & have nice, wearable pigmentation. Cork is a matte gray toned taupe & Bentonite Clay is a yellow toned vanilla shimmer. These swatched & wore beautifully. I really like this combo for an easy eyeshadow look but I definitely want to try some brighter shades! I love Cork, awesome taupe!

I’m hoping to show you more from this line because I really enjoyed these products! They have all kinds of innovative products as well like a matte/dewy duo, brow sculpting duos, gel eyeliners, & I definitely want to get my hands on some of the brighter pigments & molten eyeshadows! What do you think of the intro to this line?

I was really excited to try this City Color Cosmetics Baked Blush in Pink since this is the time of year when I reach for more baked products for a glowy look. Unfortunately…very mixed opinions. I really liked the lipstick I reviewed in the cute rose packaging & was surprised by the palette as well but this one just wasn’t for me. Keep reading to see if maybe you’ll have better luck!

This blush comes in no-muss no-fuss kind of packaging with a simple label on the back. This is labeled as cruelty-free as well! Although the plastic packaging isn’t fancy, it definitely closes securely & has held up fine mixed in with my other products.

I love baked blushes so I was excited for another to add to my collection. Sometimes these turn more into a highlight which is fine but this one turned into…well I’ll explain more.

Upon swatching I really like this shade. It is pink & baked so it has that glowy shimmer to it. This is after applying with my fingertips.

The issue I have is that it buffs away completely when I go to blend with a brush. Then I tried to use a brush to apply then & it was really hard to pick up. Like really hard. It only picked up a little but then it was pretty much gone. Boo. Definitely not going to get the pigmentation I want with my usual fluffy brushes.

You’ll need to use a denser brush with a rougher texture on the tips that will pick up more product. Even then this is more of a highlight even on my fair shin & on darker skintones it wouldn’t work as a blush. Although it isn’t what I thought it was going to be, it is pretty. But still, I wish I could get the same look that I got from my fingers with a brush.

You can purchase this blush for $2.99 on the City Color Cosmetics website.
