Victoria’s Secret Magic Pro FX Transforming Pearl Eye Quad Swatches & Review

January 20, 2014 By StephanieLouise 180Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fvictorias-secret-magic-pro-fx.htmlVictoria%27s+Secret+Magic+Pro+FX+Transforming+Pearl+Eye+Quad+Swatches+%26+Review2014-01-20+15%3A22%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fvictorias-secret-magic-pro-fx-transforming-pearl-eye-quad-swatches-review.html

So when it comes to eyeshadow toppers I seem to want to collect them all. For those unaware, transforming eyeshadows often look meh in the pan but then you put them on & the pearl sheen is usually spectacular. Especially over deeper shades or black! When I saw this handy quad available at Victoria’s Secret I was automatically excited- Victoria’s Secret is pretty mainstream for something I rarely find! Keep reading to check out my thoughts on the VS PRO Magic FX Transforming Pearl Eye Quad!
From the Victoria’s Secret website- Magically transform any shade of eye shadow in an instant with VS PRO Magic FX Transforming Pearl Eye Quad. With four opalescent, shimmery shades, this must-have eye quad turns our pros into quick-change makeup artists. For dramatic transformations, layer on over dark hues, or wear alone as a pink, gold, lilac or green highlighter.

So the packaging is simple but effective- odd that they’re labeled inside though. I mean…what makes one more likely to be places somewhere than another considering they’re all pearl sheens? Either way, you can see what the eyeshadows are from the peek window which I find handy. No excess space for a mirror or applicator which is honestly fine with me.

 photo VictoriasSecretVSMagicFXTransformingPearlPaletteSwatchesReview07_zpsa60f7ddc.jpg
 photo VictoriasSecretVSMagicFXTransformingPearlPaletteSwatchesReview06_zpsbe8238d7.jpg

You can see these with & without flash to see the sheen. You can see you get the most of the yellow/gold then the pink & an equal amount of the green & purple/blue. Again, this works for me as the gold is my favorite & likely will be the most versatile for everyone. The eyeshadows themselves are a bit stiff when uses dry but it makes for nice blending & layering.

 photo VictoriasSecretVSMagicFXTransformingPearlPaletteSwatchesReview08_zps4eae7382.jpg
 photo VictoriasSecretVSMagicFXTransformingPearlPaletteSwatchesReview09_zps08a5f6b9.jpg

Swatches are over the Jordana Jumbo pencils & bare skin. You can see how they look on bare skin, white, then black. Pretty right? Obviously you can see it really pops most over the black right?

Would you like to see a pretty eye look over a black base so you can see how I use these for an easy but dramatic eyeshadow look! You can still purchase this quad from the Victoria’s Secret website for $20!

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 Demo + Review

January 18, 2014 By StephanieLouise 181Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fsmashbox-camera-ready-bb-cream-spf-35.htmlSmashbox+Camera+Ready+BB+Cream+SPF+35+Demo+%2B+Review2014-01-18+17%3A16%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fsmashbox-camera-ready-bb-cream-spf-35-demo-review.html

 photo SmashboxBBCreamLightReview01_zps3b240f9b.jpg

I bought it. Affiliate links.

BB, CC, DD, W/E you want to call them took over the last year or two.  I tried quite a few Asian bb creams (which I tend to enjoy) & quite a few drugstore options as well (which I haven’t been nearly as impressed with). I’ve really liked some higher end CC creams & tinted options so I had pretty high hopes for the Smashbox version. Slap the fact that it is the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35 & you have some even higher hopes! Keep reading to see what I thought!

 photo SmashboxBBCreamLightReview02_zps1e6d51f5.jpg
The Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream comes in a basic tube, nothing spectacular, no pump, but also not flimsy. I have mine in the shade Light which seems to be a good shade match although Fair likely would have been better. I dotted on my face lightly but didn’t love the result so I blended in with a Real Techniques brush.

From Sephora– This multitasking tinted cream formula with SPF 35 moisturizes, primes, perfects, controls oil, and protects for flawless skin on set and beyond. Formulated with emollients and optical pearl pigments, this BB Cream gives skin a glowing, ethereal look and provides a hydrating veil for the complexion to maintain moisture on the surface of the skin. With its ultrasmoothing finish, it instantly re-texturizes to create a smooth canvas and enhances the wear of makeup. Ideal even for oily complexions, this expert formula with UVA/UVB protection helps inhibit oil to prevent the complexion from getting shiny throughout the day without the typical chalky matte finish.

 photo DaytimeWetnWildtoNighttimeBombshellLancomeEyeLookTutorialDIY010_zps6fb1f685.jpg

For reference, I have quite dry skin. Especially lately! I had issues with some creams being too dense so that it stuck to patches. Many of these balms are targeted to control oils which I am so not worried about!  I was most excited to do the flash test, seen above! See a white cast? I don’t! I also noted that it didn’t turn yellow or patchy which was a joy. The coverage is very natural, can you see my freckle face? I actually don’t mind that at all but if you wanted to slap it on over acne I’m not sure how it would work. I consider it light coverage. It looks very natural & didn’t wear off unevenly, I got a solid 6 hours of wear, more with a dash of powder in my t-zone. Overall, great when I’m in a rush!

Have you tried the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Any recommendations on what I should try next?

I’ll be doing a tutorial on my hair in the end that will be going up soon! I hope you enjoyed my look & please give me a thumbs up if you enjoyed! Sometimes pink & rose tones can make me look like I have allergy eyes or visible redness so this is my tutorial to prevent that! Note the use of purple (which complements blue eyes!) & the nude inner rim (which helps to whiten & brighten eyes!) to combat the redness!
Here’s my video tutorial- check it out on YouTube here! & remember to subscribe!

Swoon Gloss Grabber Review

January 16, 2014 By StephanieLouise 183Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fswoon-gloss-grabber-review.htmlSwoon+Gloss+Grabber+Review2014-01-16+18%3A16%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fswoon-gloss-grabber-review.html

I received this handy Swoon Gloss Grabber in the mail recently (no return address so whoever it was, thank you!) & now I’m excited to share my thoughts with you! I’m constantly looking for new & innovative beauty inventions, tips, & tricks so this was a welcomed surprise! If you read my 7 Random Must Have Beauty Tools post then you know I am all about trying new things! Keep reading to see my thoughts on this cleaver tool.
From the Swoon website: Swoon is a revolutionary cosmetics tool. Part spoon, part applicator, it’s designed to retrieve and apply every bit of gloss from a lip gloss tube. Every lip gloss lover knows that no matter the brand, the applicator never reaches to the bottom, leaving 20% of valuable, unusable product in the tube. Say goodbye to lost gloss and hello to Swoon!

Swoon, also known as the “Lip Gloss Pick Up Artist,” is an innovative cosmetics tool.  Part scoop, part applicator, it’s designed to retrieve every bit of gloss from a lip gloss tube.  Every lip gloss lover knows that no matter the brand, the applicator never reaches to the bottom of the tube, leaving 20% of unusable product in the tube.

With Swoon’s non-porous, easy-to-clean and flexible application head – shaped like a fine calligraphy pen; extra long applicator neck – designed to reach every spot; and elegant and easy to hold handle, lip gloss lovers everywhere who love to save money can “Say goodbye to lost gloss!”

I love the flexible tip, thin tip, long applicator, & the fact that it comes with a lid to stick it back in when not in use. While it doesn’t necessarily feel as luxe as say a Dior gloss wand… it actually lets you use your favorite shades up completely! Those silly crevices with tubes shapes odd ( I’m looking at you old school Urban Decay Primer Potion in the genie bottles!) this will be a godsend. Another option is to use it to scoop out excess product to keep in small containers to use them up as well!

You can purchase the handy Swoon Gloss Grabber off their website for $15 here. It is going to be an investment but if you are sick of wasting the bottom of your pricey gloss tubes then this will be a lifesaver gloss saver!

 photo MiaMariuMagiaEaudeparfumSprayReview01_zps8d62c2f5.jpg

Mia Mariu Magia website says: “enchanting, flirty, sensual…deliciously unforgettable”
This deliciously flirtatious fragrance invigorates the senses, creates a mood and sets the scene for unforgettable fun, romance and pleasure. With a medley of juicy strawberry, mandarin, peach and pear that play sweetly atop dewy blooms of jasmine, plum, magnolia and flirty frangipani; makes the perfect playmate and ideal soul mate for smooth and sensual base notes of rich vanilla, musk, tonka bean and warm and enchanting golden amber.

 photo MiaMariuMagiaEaudeparfumSprayReview02_zps6170433f.jpg

The packaging is clean & simple, the bottle made of glass & the top made of clear plastic. It has a spray nozzle which distributes an even amount of scent. I love the notes of strawberry, madarin, peach, & pear you get on the top. Fruity & fabulous! My skin naturally pulls jasmine so it was more noticeable on my own skin than in the bottle. There is also a warm undercurrent of vanilla & woods which adds more depth. A great daytime scent. I don’t find it lasts a super long time but reapplying is a breeze since it is fresh & not too intense.

Because Mia Mariu knows not every fragrance is right for every person, the winner of this giveaway will have the option to choose from Mia Mariu Magia for women, Acqua for men, & Caoba for men. Acqua is described as clean & masqueline while Caoba is more rugged & confident. Check out all three fragrances & their descriptions on the Mia Mariu website here. Interested in hearing about some new body products? The you’re in the right place! I was recently asked to try some new to me products from Accent & I’m ready to share my thoughts on the Accént Cleansing Wash & the Moisturizing Lotion with you now! Keep reading to find out more!
Accént Moisturizing Lotion- Moisturizing Lotion combines nurturing epidermal ingredients to promote skin hydration. Protease Technology from plant – based enzymes combined with amino acids and advanced moisturizers like hyaluronic acid, helps to hydrate and nourish normal to dry flaky skin, leaving it feeling soft and refreshed.

Accént Cleansing Wash- Acts as a first step in moisturizing dry, sensitive skin by gently cleansing the skin. Utilizing the Protease Technology, the gentle formulation, includingsodium cocoyl apple amino acids, softens as it cleanses. With a pleasant foaming action, skin is left feeling soft and refreshed.

Fragrance free, paraben free, non-comedogenic, & safe for daily use! If you have eczema like me, all of those things are very important since many lotions & cleansers can irritate my dry spots. Neither are very dense but it also not greasy. Accent Cleansing Wash is a nice base step when I am treating my dry skin. The Accent Moisturizing Lotion formula is buildable & comfortable. It won’t mess with any of my fragrances either since it barely has any detectable scent! I think if you have on & off body care needs like me this is great to add into your routine. Safe & easy to use too because it helps treat me skin & won’t make it worse!

Accént products are available at CVS stores and online at drugstore.com. Accént Moisturizing Lotion is sold at a suggested retail price of $15.99 and accént Cleansing Wash for a suggested retail price of $14.99.

If you have eczema or fragrance allergies, what do you use on your skin? Would love to hear about it!

My Top 5 Fragrances for 2013!

January 10, 2014 By StephanieLouise 186Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fmy-top-5-fragrances-for-2013.htmlMy+Top+5+Fragrances+for+2013%212014-01-10+18%3A21%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fmy-top-5-fragrances-for-2013.html

 photo Top5Fragrancesof2013_zps9e349aa6.jpg

PR Sample. I bought it. Affiliate links.

Love fragrance? Me too! In fact…I’m a bit obsessed! I collect fragrances throughout the year & went through & picked my 5 main favorites of 2013. It was tough! Really! I decided to look at the fragrances I used most seasonally & then the top overall! Keep reading to find out more & to watch my video!

 photo DaisyEauSoFreshSunshineMarcJacobs2013Spring_zpsa316f3c8.jpg

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Sunshine- Unfortunately…this was a limited edition fragrance for spring 2013. I know, I’m so sorry! But I would have been lying to not include it! Marc Jacobs scents seem to really resonate well with my body chemistry & when hubby & I smelled this I quickly received it as a gift! The notes that lure me in are so bright & fresh with floral juicy waves. With notes like strawberry, apple blossom, & grapefruit on top it then fades into jasmine petals, lily, & a touch of rose. The base consists of violet leaf, white oak, moss, & amber woods.

 photo almond_coconut_eau_de_toilette_zps64e3228e.png

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut– Summer was an easy pick, this fragrance from Laura Mercier is the perfect complement to pretty much any summer fragrance! Sometimes I would use it to start out my day with the warm, clean scent & other times to amp up a faded summer fragrance before going out. This is warm with a touch of sugar along with the vanilla with notes of vanilla mousse & meringue. The coconut is what drew me in for the summer.

 photo DKNYBeDeliciousGolden_zps02d32af9.jpg

DKNY Golden Delicious– One of my favorite DKNY scent period this “Golden” version is deeper with light florals & a sensual warm scent. This is warm while still being radiant. With Golden Delicious Apple being on top you also have orange flower water, white rose, vanilla orchid, & a number of scrumptiously warm & comforting woods. A no brainer!

 photo ViktorampRolfFlowerbomb_zps65f6e62a.jpg

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb– Although I picked this for winter because I got it more recently than the Dior this is definitely a contender! Flowerbomb is one of the few oriental based fragrance I like…& actually I absolutely love it! So sensual, so sexy, & so feminine! My body chemistry naturally pulls jasmine & this one smells divine on me! Notes of sambac jasmine, Centifolia rose, Cattleya orchid, Ballerina freesia, & patchouli it is sophisticated enough for day & bold enough for night.

 photo DiorMissDiorEaudeParfum_zpsbe408597.jpg

Dior Miss Dior Eau de Parfum– Meet my main favorite for 2013! I went through multiple vials & sprays of this before finally taking the leap! I’m surprised the Sephora ladies weren’t rolling their eyes when I requested it nearly every visit! This is also the first fragrance as an adult that I thought could be a signature fragrance. I bounce around scents constantly but this one hit me in the heart. So elegant, so sophisticated, & just beautiful. Oddly enough, I don’t like it upon first spray or sniff! But when it mixes with my body chemistry it is amazing! You honestly wouldn’t recognize it after 10 minutes & another sniff! With notes of mandarin, Egyptian jasmine, & patchouli it is a match made in fragrance heaven!

What were your favorite fragrances of 2013? Any that you have your eye on? Would love for you to share in the comments!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Swatches & Review

January 8, 2014 By StephanieLouise 192Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Furban-decay-naked-3-palette-swatches.htmlUrban+Decay+Naked+3+Palette+Swatches+%26+Review2014-01-08+15%3A06%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2014%2F01%2Furban-decay-naked-3-palette-swatches-review.html

If you love makeup then you might already be burned out on the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. If that is the case…well I’m sorry. I’m a bit late getting this up but I wanted LOTS of testing time to come to a conclusion. Now that I’ve had lots of time to test & play I’m ready to share my thoughts! Keep reading to see more!

 photo UrbanDecayNaked3PaletteRoseGoldEyeshadowSwatchesReview025_zps6cab8a3f.jpg
 photo UrbanDecayNaked3PaletteRoseGoldEyeshadowSwatchesReview04_zps0680aeb2.jpg

The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette is more pink/mauve/rose toned shades overall. While the first Naked palette was warmer & bronzier, the second was much cooler & taupe-r, this one is definitely different. The packaging is very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette- metal outer packaging that clicks into place, a rectangle design, decent sized mirror, double ended brush, & pretty secure close. Inside you have each shade labeled & it is plastic. The color on the outside is more of a rose gold & then there is kind of a ripple on the front which the second palette didn’t have. Overall very similar although not the same. This isn’t my very favorite packaging (I prefer the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette which I reviewed here!) but it is sturdy & I haven’t had issues with shades cracking. I do find one side of my palette sticks which I guess is better than flapping in the wind.

 photo UrbanDecayNaked3PaletteRoseGoldEyeshadowSwatchesReview03_zps00c9547b.jpg

You also have that nifty double-ended brush. I prefer this for cream products but it is a nice brush generally speaking. With the other Urban Decay Naked palettes you received a deluxe sized eye primer. With this palette you got a set of 4 little bitty testers of their different types of eye primers. Meh. Definitely not a fan of that! I actually look forward to getting my deluxe eye primers so this was a shame because I don’t feel like it adds any value.

 photo UrbanDecayNaked3PaletteRoseGoldEyeshadowSwatchesReview026_zpsed4ef1d7.jpg

Inside you have 12 shades total varying from matte to shimmer to metallic. They range from lightest to darkest from left to right. Because these shade are so pink toned I was actually thinking about passing on the palette altogether. Pinks are really hard for me to pull off… Brown & hazel eyes often rock these hues without issue but my blue eyes can often look a bit blotchy or allergy ridden. I’ll have some tutorials coming up to show how I like to use this palette because I actually quite liked most of the looks I tried in the end!

The shades below in the first photo are in direct artificial light & the second is in natural shade.

The left lighter side:
Strange is a pale white/pink with a slightly satin matte finish. Looks more yellow than it is above & looks matte on the eye. Dust is a pale metallic pink with white & golden micro glitter. A bit powdery & fallout happens with the glitter/texture. Best applied wet although I still find it patchy. Burnout is a light/medium peach with a pearly satin finish. Limit is a mauve toned pink that leans neutral/cool with a matte finish. Buzz is a coppery toned rose metallic. Lovely shade wet or dry. Trick & Nooner are both more accurate in the photos below.

The right darker side:
Trick is a bronze-toned rosy copper with gold shimmer with a frosting nearly metallic finish. Nooner is a medium muted rose with a matte finish. Liar is a mauve/rosy toned brown/grey with a frosted nearly metallic finish. Factory is a medium brown with red/pink tones that are slight but identifiable with a pearl finish. Mugshot is a very slightly pink toned taupe with a metallic finish. Darkside is a purple/grey taupe with cool tones & a pearl finish. Lovely shade. Blackheart is a blackened burgundy with warm tones & red micro-shimmer. I don’t have anything like it.

Here are my swatches in order from left to right Strange, Dust, Burnout, Limit, Buzz, Trick, Nooner, Liar, Factory, Mugshot, Darkside, & Blackheart from the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette swatched over primer.

I think the only reason this palette functions well for me (the girl who loves taupes & gravitates towards cooler tones more than warm) is because of the varying tones in the second half of the palette. These are the shades that make the other side of the palette work for me because although they aren’t as pink they definitely work well together. Dust is my least favorite shade for the fallout. My most reached for & enjoyed shades are Limit, Nooner, Buzz, Liar, Mugshot, & Darkside. Although I think I prefer the tones in the Naked 2 Palette for my personal complexion & preferences I do actually quite like this palette. I find myself reaching for it to create romantic, work appropriate, or uncomplicated looks most. Overall these 12 brand new shades are lovely & most of them have a great formula & wear.

Have you tried any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes yet? Are you buying into the Naked 3 hype? Would love to hear your thoughts below! Also feel free to let me know what kind of looks you’re interest in seeing with this palette!
