Rave Review: Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask

July 28, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9684 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Frave-review-origins-clear-improvement.htmlRave+Review%3A+Origins+Clear+Improvement+Active+Charcoal+Mask2011-07-28+22%3A31%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Frave-review-origins-clear-improvement-active-charcoal-mask.html

Let me start off with: You need this mask. It is the most effective mask for clogged pores/breakouts I’ve EVER used, and I’ve used a lot of them. Keep reading for the details!

What Origins says about this product:
When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin looks cloudy. Nature’s complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skins overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins, Lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that “stuff” down there, skin “breathes a sigh of relief.”
How to use: Once a week or as often as needed, open pores with warm, moist towel and layer mask on. Allow to dry, rinse well. Watch your skin shake off the shroud of dullness and take on a new clarity.
Best for all skin types
My Take: They have come up with a miracle mask. I loved the way the Boscia charcoal mask worked, but its pretty steep. I’ll compare those below as always! Anyways, I opened the top to check the consistancy. When you hear charcoal, you think dry, scrubby, or grimy. This is completely the opposite. It is thick and rich, reminding me of a mix of a super-thick body butter and toothpaste. Yes, that thick. I first tested it on my wrist. You should always do this with products if you are prone to allergies or have sensitive skin! It was easy to manuever, the thick mask easily smoothed over my skin. Tested beautifully, so onto my face it went! Its a really neat dark navy/gray color!
How I used it:
Going on, it was cool and refreshing. This doesn’t have a strong scent at all, which I actually find very pleasant. You guys are probably going to laugh at me, but it smelled like sourdough bread straight from the oven, not like the fire pit I had envisioned.
Here comes the good part: watching it work. I felt it starting to tug a bit, the perfect signal its working. If you feel nothing on your skin when you apply a mask, I feel like it doesn’t get deep enough. As it kept penetrating my skin, it tightened a lot. It felt amazing, not painful at all. Here are the pictures right before I washed it off:
Did it work?: So, this is going to be a bit TMI, but I had to tell you guys. It got so deep into my pores that it extracted a blemish. Yes. I’m serious. It literally pulled it out of my face. I have NEVER experienced anything like this. I was in shock and overjoyed. My nose looked visibly cleared and my skin was very smooth and soft. I thought with how strong the mask was my skin might be upset with me, but I guess it liked it as much as I do!
Verdict: Amazing. Absolutely and completely a must-have for me now. I am also going to try this as a spot treatment! I’m not the only one who thinks it works great either. Origins is one of the awesome websites that allows you to review products and this one is 5/5 stars and 95% of customers would recommend it! If you research products like me, then you know how rare that is! Looking at my skin today, I even think it has brightened my skin tone up. I’ve been sick so I’ve been breaking out, thanks to this my skin is absolutely on the road to recovery!
Where to purchase and specifics: You can pick this up in an Origins store or online HERE. You get this mask in a 3.4oz size, it doesn’t take much so this is many applications. The price is $21.00 for this size.  If you have been hearing the buzz about Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask, then I bet you’ve wanted to try it. Now let’s compare!
Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask: $34 for 2.8oz
Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask: $21 for 3.4oz
Big difference in ounces and price! WOO!
Have you used this product? Do you plan on trying it? What other Origins products are you wondering about?

From my Target discount haul! So different from my other colors. It looks to me like a grey/olive base with an antiqued gold finish. Almost a chrome. This is 2 medium coats.

Beautisol Summer Glow Self Tanner & Go Slough Yourself Review!

July 25, 2011 By StephanieLouise 971Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Fbeautisol-summer-glow-self-tanner-go.htmlBeautisol+Summer+Glow+Self+Tanner+%26+Go+Slough+Yourself+Review%212011-07-25+18%3A03%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Fbeautisol-summer-glow-self-tanner-go-slough-yourself-review.html

Hey guys! So today I bring you my new favorite self-tanner for body, Summer Glow from Beautisol. In conjunction with  that, I’ve been using their exfoliator, Go Slough Yourself. I am actually reapplying my self-tanner today (woo for a golden glow!) but I took before and after pictures right before my vacation 🙂

Since it is step one in the self-tanning sequence, let’s talk about Go Slough Yourself. If you’re new to tanning, a great exfoliation pre-tanning is absolutely necessary. Your skin needs to be the perfect canvas to soak in the tanning lotion without having rough skin or unevenness. I find most people who say they dislike self-tanners have skipped this step…leaving themselves set up for a mess. Once you completely the exfoliation process, you’re all set!

What Beautisol Says About Go Slough Yourself:

Go Slough Yourselfâ„¢ is a dual-action exfoliant for the body.

What’s included:
Exfoliates and cleanses the body, preparing it for a perfect self-tan application

Features & benefits:
Physically exfoliates the skin with Diatomaceous Earth (aka little scrubby beads), removing unwanted dead skin cells and preparing the skin for a flawless self-tan application
Promotes gentle cell renewal with Salicylic acid, a beta hydroxyacid and a chemical exfoliant/Ensures a longer-lasting tan with the removal of dead skin before self-tanning
Nourishes and hydrates the skin with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients such as Passionflower and Acai Berry
    Paraben-free, propylene glycol-free, sodium laurel/laureth sulphate-free and cruelty-free (PETA certified)

My Opinion and Outcome:

I love that this is a dense scrub instead of a thinner one. I feel like it coats my body and allows me to really exfoliate deep, not just the thin top layer of skin oils. I do have sensitive skin, so the addition of passionflower (which is both an antioxidant AND anti-inflammatory) is key to exfoliating my sensitive skin. Go Slough Yourself also contains salicylic acid which is a chemical exfoliant, talk about scrubbing off dead cells!

Verdict: Best self-tanning scrub I’ve ever used, hands down. Check it out HERE.

Next is Summer Glow Dark Self-Tanning Lotion from Beautisol.

What Beautisol says about this product:

Summer Glowâ„¢ dark self-tanning lotion is the perfect product for anyone looking for a deep, dark tan fast!

What’s included:
6 fl. oz. Summer Glowâ„¢ – Dark Self-Tanning Lotion for Body
    FREE Application guide
FREE Two pairs of application gloves

What it does:
Gives an immediate bronzing effect so you look tan and gorgeous instantly
    Provides a long-lasting, natural-looking dark tan
Moisturizes & nourishes the skin with anti-aging properties
    Helps hide skin imperfections
Innovative Pure Scent odor eliminating fragrance technology reduces the unpleasant processing odor by up to 80%

Check it out HERE on their website.
My Opinion and Outcome:

One word- Revolutionary. If you have ever used a self-tanner, then you know there is always a scent. A lingering one that is never pleasant. NOT ANYMORE! They use SMELL RIGHTâ„¢ technology which “encapsulates the yucky order, so you get to smell like a flower, not the pig pen at the county fair!” Normal tanning rules do apply: exfoliate, lightly moisturize dry areas, stay away from water so the color develops to its full potential, etc. Now here’s where I get brutal. I am painfully pale on my legs, I’m seriously surprised I can’t see through my skin.
Finding a tanning lotion that:

1) Doesn’t turn me orange
2) Doesn’t make me wreak
3) Doesn’t apply streaky like pinstripes
4) Stays then fades evenly

5) Has some kind of color so I can see where I’m applying color

Normally, I get maybe 2-3 of these dreams. Maybe. Beautisol has definitely changed that. I HATE the self-tanner smell, its a distinct giveaway. I also like that you can apply it back to back for a deeper color, not that I would need to. Seriously, I couldn’t believe how dark it got me without going orange. Pretty ridiculous that on top of that it completely faded evenly after I exfoliated on the 4th day. Check out the color difference on the before and after pictures on the below!
Before
After
Plus, check out the color on this product, it made it so easy to see where I was applying!

Verdict: This is the most trustworthy tanner I’ve ever used. I would use this before a wedding or photo shoot…and not be afraid. That is a sentence I NEVER thought I would be able to write down. I will repurchase this from now on, I can’t even think of anything I’d want to add to it!!!

They include cards that are ridiculously helpful, they make this process so easy! Here are the cards that are included with the tanner, also they send a set of gloves:
If you have any questions about either of these products, just comment below and I will answer your question!

Nail Life from Sally Beauty Review

July 22, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9734 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Fnail-life-from-sally-beauty-mini-review.htmlNail+Life+from+Sally+Beauty+Review2011-07-22+22%3A52%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Fnail-life-from-sally-beauty-review.html

Hey guys! I was sent these to review and I have been so thrilled with them so far! Mind you, this is just my first impressions.

First, some background info! So Nail Life bran was formulated for Sally Beauty Co by FingerMates out of Belmar, NJ. You can only purchase these through Sally Beauty in store/online. These bottles are HUGE! When you compare them to an average polish bottle, you’ll understand what I mean.

Nail Life bottles are 1 oz and most of my average nail polishes are 0.6 oz. Big difference!
So let’s look at pricing next. These nail treatments are all $7.99 on Sally Beauty’s website. If you have a Beauty Club card (WHICH YOU SHOULD!!!!) then they are even less! So were are some of my other top/base coats I have tried and liked and their prices/amounts (may vary). Keep in mind, usually my nail treatments are more expensive that top/base coats so this is my way of showing the most frequent low-cost base/top coats.

Some of my most frequently used:
Nail Bliss Base Seal: $8.99 for 0.4 oz
Orly Primetime Primer Basecoat: $7.49 for 0.6oz
Sephora by OPI Top Coat: $9.50 for 0.5oz
Essie Good to Go Rapid Dry Top Coat: $8.00 for 0.5oz
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Wraps: $5.50 for 0.4oz
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat: $8.99 for 0.5oz

After doing the math, you save quite a bit with Nail Life products. But, obviously, that means nothing if I don’t like the product. So, that’s the next step!

First Impressions After 2 Uses Each:
1. Nail Life Hide Ridges Ridge Filler- Normally I don’t buy ridge fillers very often, but I’m loving this. So, right before vacation my dog jammed my big toe. As much as it hurt, the pain faded. However…the dent did not. After arriving home to these goodies, I immediately used this to fill in the lovely dent and it worked! I had tried multiple things while on vacation, all unsuccessful. This one kicked butt. Worked great on my thumb when the very tip started getting a bit peely-looking. Both applications left me with a great, smooth surface so my nail polish didn’t look funky.

2. Nail Life Speed Demon Polish Dryer- I was SO excited to get this! Cutest name ever right? I applied it to a top coat on my ever-changing nails and it dried them fast while leaving a nice shine. I had this top coat on for one day the first time and 2 the second time. No chipping, which is amazing for me. Online, it also says it prevents polish from fading. I’ll be excited to try this out as soon as I stop changing my nail polish color so often!

3. Nail Life Aromatherapy Drop-On Polish Dryer- I’ve never had Drop-On polish drips that smelled this good! They don’t have what the scent is exactly on-line, but I am 98% sure it is cucumber/melon. If its not, well that’s my take on it! So not only is it one of my favorite scents, but its ridiculously convenient. It doesn’t dry as fast as Speed Demon, but using the little glass dropper on my toes is awesome. So quick, so easy. Smells SO good.

4. Nail Life Nail Revitalizer Treatment- So after using the Ridge Filler, I realized I needed to use this on my couple of peely nails because they were getting really weak. I am still testing this because it takes 7 days. I’ve been using this on my nails as a base coat. You can also use it as a top coat, but I opted for the Speed Demon Dryer. This isn’t exactly a base coat, its thinner. Its like a mix of base coat and nail oil. Very nourishing. My nails soaked it right up.

5. Nail Life Gripper Basecoat- I have been using this for my pedicures. I don’t change colors nearly as often as my toes, and this seems to be really lasting! It seems to truly “grip” the polish to my toes. I’ll let you know how it stands up to my 7 day test in my upcoming video!

6. Nail Life Jojoba & Tea Tree Cuticle Remover- Loving this! I have LOTS of cuticle removers, but the smell of this is so perfectly natural! As you guys know, I don’t like using cuticle trimmers, so remover is all I use when pushing my cuticles back and such. This worked great, especially since I forgot my cuticle remover while on vacation….I was in desperate need.

More info and my 7 day challenge video review are coming up soon! If you want to know more about the Beauty Club card and why I HIGHLY recommend it, let me know!If you have ANY questions/comments, let me know!

Forever 21 Nail Polish Haul!

July 21, 2011 By StephanieLouise 975Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Fforever-21-nail-polish-haul.htmlForever+21+Nail+Polish+Haul%212011-07-21+18%3A51%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F07%2Fforever-21-nail-polish-haul.html

& I’m BACK!!!! Get ready for tons of new hauls and such…I had a blast!

First off, here are my polishes from Forever 21. I had a ton I wanted to try, but seeing them in person is always 1,000% better. I changed my mind about a few and fell for some that looked plain online. I must warn you sometimes its hard to catch the light right so you can see the finish/shine/coloring/shimmer so some of these might be awkward angles so you can see the color in all its glory.

Here are the nail polishes I ended up with:

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Rose

I honestly wouldn’t have bought this online. It looked like a ton of other colors I already have even though its scented. That would have been a mistake. As you can see in picture 2, it has an incredible orange/gold very fine shimmering quality to it. It is gorgeous.

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Teal to Turquoise.

I love my teals, maybe a bit too much. However, somehow I have never bought one of F21’s Mood Changing polishes so I snagged this. I’ll be sure to post pictures of how I like it/how it works.

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Light Green.

I seriously wish they didn’t have the most boring nail polish names ever because I know I would’ve passed this up. From the picture online, I couldn’t even tell it was a flakie! You know how obsessed I am with these so I was practically doing a happy-dance in the middle of the store. Beautiful green (I use these as a top coat) and the flakies have a ton of orange-bronze to them. I can already tell it will look amazing.

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Melon.

Yet another I would have passed up!!! I love melon scented everything, but it looked like just a plain pink. Its not. The gold undertone on this is stunning. The color reminds me of a Frankin I did that was hot pink mixed with coral.

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Gold.

Yes, this is mostly gold, but can you see the flecks I caught with my flash? They’re like itty-bitty disco balls. There is also very fine silver glimmer throughout. Gold? Yes. But so much more than the name suggests.

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Blue/Green.

Worst. Name. EVER! How dull for such an edgy color! I must admit, this was VERY tough to photograph but I think it is my favorite. I put this on as soon as I was done photographing so I’ll be posting those next. Almost a navy combined with turquoise, this bottle reminds me of peacock colors. As I turn the bottle, violet jumps into the picture as well. Inside my nails look gorgeous, but outside? Spectacular.

On a random side note….is it just me or is there a ton of excess glass at the bottom of these bottles?
