Spookfest Day 28: Princess Fairy Nails with Nail Art

October 28, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9193 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-28-princess-fairy-nails.htmlSpookfest+Day+28%3A+Princess+Fairy+Nails+with+Nail+Art2011-10-28+17%3A26%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-28-princess-fairy-nails-with-nail-art.html

So this was requested by my girlies in my pre-school. They wanted to see a princess-fairy look. So here it is! I used Sally Hansen’s Color Quick Pen in Purple Chrome…because it was sitting riiiight over there. Anyway, I wouldn’t use it with nail art glue again, it kind of…denigrated? Very strange, but it kind of ate away at it. The stars, flowers, & jewels were purchased on Ebay and Sally’s Beauty Supply.

What do you think? I’m pretty sure they’ll like them!

Spookfest Day 27: Revlon Scented Mon Cherry + Pumpkin Stamping

October 28, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9202 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-27-revlon-scented-mon.htmlSpookfest+Day+27%3A+Revlon+Scented+Mon+Cherry+%2B+Pumpkin+Stamping2011-10-28+00%3A18%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-27-revlon-scented-mon-cherry-pumpkin-stamping.html

I let my husband pick the color this time and he went with Revlon’s Scented Nail Polish in Mon Cherry. I wouldn’t say he picked it specifically, pretty sure he just closed his eyes and picked one. I love this red, and the scent! It reminds me of the cherry heads (like lemon heads but cherries…am I remembering that right???) and looks really vampy while not being as bright as many of my others.
This is 2 coats. I then FINALLY found my scraper for my konad so I stamped some creepy branches on my tips and a pumpkin on the thumb. The black was thinner…I grabbed the wrong one! But I still really liked it ๐Ÿ™‚
Topped of with Seche Vite so its super shiny. I got this pattern from the Bundle Monster set on Amazon which I have in my left sidebar in my requested amazon purchases.
Today, Cobo is purple Sally Hansen’s Quick Chrome Pen in Pink Chrome. He’s a Fashion DO.

Birchbox October 2011 Overview

October 26, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9213 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fbirchbox-october-2011-overview.htmlBirchbox+October+2011+Overview2011-10-26+01%3A52%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fbirchbox-october-2011-overview.html

My October Birchbox arrived a few days ago, and the video went live last night! Here’s my accompanying blog post, including my video below.

So I know some weren’t as happy with their Birchboxes this month, but you won’t be finding that here. Was it my favorite? No. But certainly worth the $10 I paid.
Here’s what I received  in October 2011 Birchbox:
-Amika Obliphica Hair Treatment
-Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Primer in Bronze
-Clark’s Botanicals Intense Radiance Mask
-Anastasia Beverly Hills HydraFull Gloss –
-Extra: The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo
 Amika Obliphica Hair Treatment
First Impression: Nice quality sample bottle, sealed, 0.34 fl oz. I love getting these kinds of items because I have only started using argan/Moroccan oils within the past 2 years and now there are tons of different specialties. I also use certain varieties on my skin! Probably going to be using this within the next few months, when my hair is its most dehydrated. Smells more fragrant than a lot of my other oils though, kind of similar to a sexy solid perfume.
Full Size: $34.00 for 3.38 fl oz.

Laura Geller  Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Primer in Bronze
First Impression: Was SO excited to see this in my Birchbox! I love Laura Geller, but there are just some products I am hesitant to buy. Bronzers fall into this category because I’m light and pretty picky. I really think its a fine line between dewy/sexy and oily/slimy. One reason I love her products so much is because everything I own from Laura Geller is multi-functional, this being no exception. I used this as a soft bronze highlight on my cheekbones and as an eye primer for a natural eye. Loved it. Super soft, blendable, & you only need a small amount!
Full Size: $25.00 for 2oz.

Clark’s Botanicals Intense Radiance Mask
First Impression: Ok let me remind you I dropped this in my video when I saw the price….but Birchbox is all about trying new things right? I don’t use white clay masks very often, but this one is nice and thick. So far, I’ve only swatched it on my arm to test for an allergic reaction, as I always do. Hello…its going on my face! But it tightened a lot, but not as much as my Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, but it also washes off a lot easier so less redness or irritation for most. It smells really floral to me, which surprisingly I didn’t mind. What  do mind is how I’d be too scared to use up a tube!

Full Size: $72.00 for 1.7fl oz.

 Anastasia Beverly Hills HydraFull Gloss
First Impression: Honestly, you can see in my video what my first impression is. “This is one tiny sample!” And it truly is. I get its not super cheap, but its also not the priciest on the market either so I think they could have done a lot better. ANYWAY the product! Weird applicator, like in the video. You can see its a clear spatula which didn’t make much of an application difference except that it freaked me out. Nice gloss, pretty shine and color, but not moisturizing or long lasting. Its supposed to plump, smooth, firm, and hydrate but I found it to be really similar to a few of my Sephora brand glosses.
Full Size: $21.00 for 0.07 fl oz.

The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo
First Impression: I haven’t tried this yet because my favorite sweaters are still packed away. However, I am interested to see if it works any different than my Woolite…’ve been using it since birch pretty much. Its pretty pricey but if it helps me clothes last longer and look better, it migh tbe a worthy splurge for fall/winter. Cashmere isn’t cheap!
Full Size: $19.00 for 16 fl oz.

There you have it! What was in your Birchbox if you had different items? Have you tried any of these?

Spookfest Day 23: 9021 Orange from Wet n Wild

October 24, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9224 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-23-9021-orange-from-wet-n.htmlSpookfest+Day+23%3A+9021+Orange+from+Wet+n+Wild2011-10-24+00%3A40%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-23-9021-orange-from-wet-n-wild.html

I have been very impatient about saving this. Behold: My favorite orange of the moment. Sparkly, eye-catching, almost like orange flames across my fingertips.
Perfect for Halloween yes?
This is more sheer than I’d like, but then again I don’t like to see my nail line. This is about 4 even coats. I don’t even care, totally worth it!
Direct Sunlight. No editing, it really is that blinding.

 Shade.
Check out this bottle shot where you can really see the separate particles.
 With Flash.

So what oranges have been YOUR favorite so far this month? I love love love this one even though it takes some work!

Spookfest 2011: Mermaid Glitter “Mask” Idea + Revlon

October 21, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9234 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-2011-mermaid-glitter-mask.htmlSpookfest+2011%3A+Mermaid+Glitter+%22Mask%22+Idea+%2B+Revlon2011-10-21+17%3A21%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-2011-mermaid-glitter-mask-idea-revlon.html

I picked up Revlon’s LE Diamond Lust Eyeshadow in Neptune Star (which is stunning!) & immediately thought mermaids. I wanted to do something a bit glam but still something I wouldn’t wear everyday. Halloween is the perfect time to rock this look!
For hand swatches, check out The Dark Side of Beauty where she has Neptune Star, Night Sky, & Plum Galaxy swatched.
The holo glitter in these is the perfect touch to this look and I don’t have another shadow in my collection that could come close to being any sort of dupe. You DO need to pay attention to application though, patting is key…or else you’ll have a real mess.
NOTE: I knew I felt awful…but wasn’t sure why. I actually went to the ER this morning and got shots, but thats why I look kind of puffy/broken out. I didn’t want to put too much on my skin and make it worse. The one item I DID use on my skin is ELF Highlight Stick in Spotlight for that glowy look. I am feeling MUCH better now though, promise!
Oh are you noticing what makes this look a tad different? Use face-safe adhesive and jewels/glitter! Who says you need to go buy a one-wear mask?

For a more wild look, I added the middle piece like a mask! Very easy and fast using the same method as above. Just remember to overlap!

Spookfest 2011: Jessica from True Blood as Lil Red Riding Hood

October 18, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9245 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-2011-jessica-from-true-blood.htmlSpookfest+2011%3A+Jessica+from+True+Blood+as+Lil+Red+Riding+Hood2011-10-18+17%3A29%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-2011-jessica-from-true-blood-as-lil-red-riding-hood.html

If you have followed my blog for awhile, then you know I am a True Blood fanatic. No doubt about it. I started with the Sookie Stackhouse novels and then the show, which are completely different. The characters on the show are fab, and a VERY popular Halloween option these days. What caught my eye lately? Jessica (played by Deborah Ann Woll ) as Little Red Riding Hood in the season finale. Check out the clip below.
Jessica’s Blog: Little Red
Wow right? If you want to channel this look, then here’s my take on it!
Channeling Jessica from True Blood as Little Red Riding Hood
Interest Points:
-Gold/Black Smoky Eye
-Red Lips
-Glowing Pale Skin
-Defined Brows

-Long Lashes

1) I applied my face makeup as usual, although I am having some eczema issues so my skin is dryer than usual. I went with foundation I already have in a shade 1-2 lighter than my current. Use ELF HD Powder to set your look to perfection, it is super fine and makes your skin look smooth.

2) I then did my brows with my Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow pencil, 99 cents at your local drugstore. Then I used Hard Candy eye primer and let it settle in. While I waited I applied lip balm because the Milani Lip Flash Pencils can be a bit drying.

3) To begin the smoky eye, I used my Physicians Formula Gel Liner and applied to both inner and outer lids. Come up to make a point on the end. It doesn’t need to be perfect, you’ll have to touch it up at the end, but have your basics in line.

4) Your highlight shade will be the gold shade from the Wet n Wild trio “I’ve Got Good Jeans” which needs to cover from eyelashes to browbone. You can go a lot lighter than I did, I just wanted a more intense look for Halloween. If you want a lighter look, tap off the excess! These are extremely creamy and pigmented. Take this in the inner corners and bottom lashline as well.

5) I then took my Blackened Gold (for swatches of this collection click HERE) from The Body Needs. This is my favorite collection from TBN for obvious reasons, they’re gorgeous. Anyways Blackened Gold should be brought from lashline to crease, blending out and up. You don’t need a lot for the effect, it too is well pigmented and the gold and black is what you’re looking for. Also, take this in the outer corners of your lower lashline.

6) Take the MATTE black shade from the Wet N Wild 8 Color Palette in “Blue Had Me at Hello” to do a powder eyeliner. Be careful not to go all the way to your inner corner, we’ll be adding a highlight to brighten up that look next.

7) Take your favorite highlight for the inner corners. I used Almay Bright Eyes Duo in Cocoa & Pearl. Draw it on, then blend well.

8) Apply mascara as desired. I have been using my Falsies from Maybelline. I think it does a good job blending my acutal falsies and natural lashes as well. If you’re applying falsies, make sure you don’t go too heavy on this step so you can blend them better.

9) Apply your false lashes. My lash of choice lately are from KK Center and are ES 10 Pairs of Criss Cross Lashes but remember to trim your ends or you’ll end up looking crazy! For 10% off, enter the code BLGB462ST10 which will remain good until February 28th, 2012. This makes each pair of lashes around 55 cents and I reuse them. Apply mascara to both your real and false lashes to blend together. I like the criss cross ones for dramatic looks because they give me an awesome fullness to the base of my lashes. It looks a little uneven when my eyes are closed but that’s because due to a medical condition I have lost the lashes in my outer corner of that right eye. ๐Ÿ™ For the super dramatic feather lashes in my umpkinette Look from KK Center HK, CLICK HERE!

10) Apply highlighter to both cheeks and top of lips on the cupid’s bow. My choice is ELF Highlight Stick in Spotlight, a lovely pearly white. I didn’t apply blush because I already have a pink undertone.

11) Apply pencil/primer to your lips if desired. If not, directly apply Milani Lip Flash in Hot Flash. Make sure to blot at least ones or it will slide around a bit and won’t last as long.

Now you’re done!

Now you’re ready to pop in Fangs if desired!
Want a bonus? Check out a few pictures of some of my other favorite little red riding hood looks in the next post!

Spookfest Day 14: Sugar Sugar from Sinful Colors + Crackle

October 14, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9251 Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-14-sugar-sugar-from.htmlSpookfest+Day+14%3A+Sugar+Sugar+from+Sinful+Colors+%2B+Crackle2011-10-14+17%3A32%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-14-sugar-sugar-from-sinful-colors-crackle.html

So if you have little ones, then you probably know its fire week. Today i wanted to rock a red mani, then add some black crackle. Just this purple toned red with glitter/shimmer looked too Christmas-y for me haha.
Here’s 2 coats of Sugar Sugar from Sinful Colors, a bit more purple than I wanted. It has tiny flecks of glitter and shimmer throughout though so I liked it anyway. I didn’t have time to pull off nail art (plus I will be covered in red paint today so…) but I thought a crackle would be nice today.

Here it is with one coat of China Glaze Crackle in Black Mesh. I think it cracked nicely today.

Spookfest Day 11: Facets of Fuchsia from Revlon

October 12, 2011 By StephanieLouise 9272 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-11-facets-of-fuchsia-from.htmlSpookfest+Day+11%3A+Facets+of+Fuchsia+from+Revlon2011-10-12+15%3A00%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2011%2F10%2Fspookfest-day-11-facets-of-fuchsia-from-revlon.html

I think I will start off with: Fabulocity in a bottle. No, I am not over-exaggerating. It really is. This is from the Expressionists Collection from Revlon and is actually the only one I picked up so far because I knew it was to be mine as soon as I saw it. I picked this up for only $2.99 which is a steal compared to many other brands coming out with genuinely great Fall collections.
What it is: A Black jelly base with both hexagonal & regular glitter. Medium shine finish.

Comparable to Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance. I actually think I like Revlon’s a tad better, and I definitely like the price better!

Seen here as only 1 medium coat of LA Colors Black on Black! I seem to prefer black jellys over a black base but that is just my personal preference. For opacity without a black base, you will be looking at 3-4 coats. No top coat so this is the original shine. I applied my Seche Vite before work for a high gloss finish, but honestly, kind of wish I didn’t. The original look was perfect.

According to me and quite a few other beauty bloginistas, this is officially a must-have polish. I’ve based this on price point, color, uniqueness, availability.

If you follow me on twitter, then you saw my technical difficulties last night and know why I couldn’t get this up last night! Anyway, sorry, but 2 nail pols will be up today so no worries!
