I Scored 99 cent Color Club Nail Polishes at my Walgreens?

March 20, 2012 By StephanieLouise 84710 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fi-scored-99-cent-color-club-nail.htmlI+Scored+99+cent+Color+Club+Nail+Polishes+at+my+Walgreens%3F2012-03-20+14%3A06%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fi-scored-99-cent-color-club-nail-polishes-at-my-walgreens.html

What’s that you say? I’ve lost my mind? Wait? I’ve gone….MAD? Oh no, this is not a dream.

So I’m hitting up Walgreens for the new Sinful Colors Girls With Pearls Collection (which they didn’t have) & as I am walking fown the aisle I see a bunch of Color Club nail polishes. Imposters? Oh no, because I bought a set in a collection! The glitters on the top row, I spent like $10-$15 on it when it was clearanced! So who is doing this? Who is standing in a corner giggling as I put all of these in my cart to have them ring up as $8? WAIT! THEY DIDN’T! 99 cents a piece people.

So what’s going on? I wanted to know the same thing, trust me. Would there be more? Should I be stalking them? Well here is what I figured out. Notice when I noted the collection I had already bought? Well here it is in a post I did in November, it is called the Glitter Vixen Collection. The mystery deepens no? Well, then I found some empty packages behind Mr. Bunny. Click! They are pulling past collections out, ripping off the packaging, & selling them as singles! You think I’m nuts? Ask Mr. Bunny, pretty sure he saw it all. There was a whole ‘nother wall of these too, but they were all repeat shades. I BELIEVE I got one of each color besides the clear top coat…& the ones I already have of course. I did buy 2 of one shade I already have though for gifts.

As I was checking out, the lady was shocked. I could tell she knew her nail polish….guess we know what she did after I left!

If you see ANYTHING like this in YOUR local Walgreens, PLEASE let me know! I want to know if this is like…because my Walgreens is a rebel or if this happens sometimes? Definitely news to me!

I will be posting pictures of all the polishes ASAP, first I need to find their names though & I wanted to get the word out first!

Beauty & Life: 11 Questions Tag

March 19, 2012 By StephanieLouise 8483 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fbeauty-life-11-questions-tag.htmlBeauty+%26+Life%3A+11+Questions+Tag2012-03-19+14%3A41%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fbeauty-life-11-questions-tag.html

I was tagged to do this & thought it would be fun! Thanks to the girls at TruBeautyGems for tagging me! My 11 Things About Me is going to be pretty basic, just a forewarning! I wanted to give out a few facts for new readers! I added pictures & such as well, but that’s just because I think that its most visually appealing 🙂

The Rules
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you plus eleven questions for the people you have tagged to answer
3. Choose eleven people and link them in your tag
4. Go to their page and tell them
5. No tag backs
6. You legitimately have to tag

 11 Things About Me:
 1. I was born & raised in Huntington Beach, CA & most of my family still resides there

3. I work lots of different jobs on my own & have one normal job which is as a preschool teacher in the afternoons.

4. I have a Boxer/Shar Pei mix named Cobo, a Poodle/Shih tzu mix named Zeus, & a tabby named Gizmo. All three are rescues.

10. I hate cleaning my brushes & put it off till the last second. One of my goals this year is to get over that.

11. I like REALLY spicy food. No, really.

Their Questions for me:

1.  If you had to narrow your beauty regimen down to 5 products, what would they be?
I’m going to assume they mean skincare? But I will do makeup & skincare just in case! I think it would be my Aveeno Face Wash for sensitive skin for when my skin hates me, my moisturizer, a waterproof mascara, lip balm, & hmmm…. my Reviva Labs 5% Glycolic Acid Cream. Review on that coming soon…
2.  What inspired you to start a blog?
Honestly, I just love makeup, beauty, nails, all of it. I have always had lots of it too. So it seemed natural. I have always been a writer so it fills that creativity nook for me.

Oh man…ummm….OH! I had one of those goofy looking fishnet kind of arm things back in the day. I was so punk, so cool. Haha
4.  What do you do for a job or career?
Man, you guys ready? I teach preschool part time, pet sit & dog train, am a beauty blogger, & I do PR for a hair company. I would LOVE to do more PR though, its so up my alley!
5.  What is your guilty pleasure?
Dark chocolate & caramel anything. Midnight Milky Ways are pretty much crack.
6.  What’s your best feature?
I got voted Prettiest Eyes in high school so I’ll go with those.
7.  Favorite beauty and fashion trend of the moment?
Coral/tangerine.
8.  Favorite TV show?
I’m not picking one, I cheat. True Blood, Castle, Psych, & anything with magic or vampires, generally speaking. Growing up, I was all about Are You Afraid of the Dark? & Sabrina.
9.  How would you describe your personal style?
Honestly, whatever I feel like doing that day.
10.  Favorite place to shop in store and online?
In store…probably like TJ Maxx or Ross only because I feel like I’m on a treasure hunt. Online its Amazon, Hautelook, or Ulta.
11.  What do you like about my blog and why?
Believe it or not, it reminds me a lot of what my blog looked like when I first started which totally makes me smile. I love your nails though, as weird as that is? Does that make me sound like a blogger or what?
Whew! Okay, so here are my questions for the 11 people I tag:
1. You can only wear one nail color for the rest of your life, what is it?
2. Top beauty blunder people make that drives you crazy?

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold & The Body Needs Aspen Gold
So I wore this look a few days ago & really loved it. I knew I wanted to use Maybelline’s 24 Hour Color Tattoo as my base because it had been…one of THOSE days! Humid, blah, meh. So Bold Gold it was & my goodness is it a stunning gold or what? Normally I use these as a base & cover them up, but not this time! I was feeling the gold so I pulled out a crease shade. I love gold & green so it was natural I would reach for The Body Needs eyeshadow in Aspen Gold for my crease shade. A light dust of my Become Beauty Bronzer/Highlight duo on the highlight side (this contest is still open guys, remember to enter!) & I was thrilled.

Mani of the Day: St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Sponge Gradient Manicure

March 16, 2012 By StephanieLouise 8534 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fmani-of-day-st-patricks-day-rainbow.htmlMani+of+the+Day%3A+St.+Patrick%27s+Day+Rainbow+Sponge+Gradient+Manicure2012-03-16+17%3A17%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fmani-of-the-day-st-patricks-day-rainbow-sponge-gradient-manicure.html

This has been in my dreams seriously. A rainbow sponged mani using all the colors at once? Truth! I saw this on another blog, LaynieFingers, so here is the link to that post! She only did one nail rainbow but totally shows the method & such. Hers is gorgeous!

What I Used:
Red- Sally Hansen xtreme Wear in “Cherry Red”
Orange- Essie “Vermillionaire”
Yellow- Color Club “Almost Famous”
Green- Spoiled “I Only Eat Salads” ( Full swatch soon, loving it!)
Blue- Sinful Colors “Why Not”

Purple- Color Club “Pucci-licious”

White Base- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in “Whirlwind White”
Top Coat- Seche Vite

Obviously you can sub any of these shades but what I like about these are they are all close to or opaque in one coat & none of them have shimmer.

How to Achieve it: You paint all of the colors on a sponge in rainbow order then sponge on your entire nail! Wam bam thank you ma’am! Really, that’s it! No pesky layering, more control. I loved this method although I didn’t have a ton of time so I left some white. Next time, I won’t bunch up some of my colors either, they blend on their own anyway.

BONUS- My Seriously Creepy Attempt at a Leprechaun….EEEEEEK! ERASE ERASE ERASE!

Voila! I love this, really. My kids went nuts for it too which is always an awesome bonus! Do you have a rainbow mani? Feel free to link below, I’d love to see it!

Physician’s Formula pH Lipgloss in Light Pink Review & Swatches

March 15, 2012 By StephanieLouise 8547 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fphysicians-formula-ph-lipgloss-in-light.htmlPhysician%27s+Formula+pH+Lipgloss+in+Light+Pink+Review+%26+Swatches2012-03-15+17%3A19%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fphysicians-formula-ph-lipgloss-in-light-pink-review-swatches.html

Physician’s Formula know what they’re doing, seriously. From their bronzers to eyeshadows to just about everything else, they are a go to brand for me when shopping the drugstore. Durable but creative packaging, great color selection, & products that actually work is what they bring to the table. So when they came out with something that lit up I was all in. I’m sure this is my husband rubbing off on me, but geek beauty can be so chic! While this isn’t exactly “geek”, its definitely chic & fun. Read on to find out more!

What Physician’s Formula says:
-1st Ever Lip Gloss with pH Power Complex transforms into your perfectly personalized hue.
-Fluorescein Based Dye-senses the pH level of your skin & adjusts within 60 seconds to create your perfect lip color.
-Photochronic Powders-light adjusting pigments adapt to your environment so color looks the same indoors & outside.
-Look your Best in Every Light!
-LED-powered compact lights up and features a full-size mirror for touch-ups anywhere & everywhere!
-Hypoallergenic. Fragrance free. Paraben free. Dermatologist approved.

My Take:
Let’s start off with the formula shall we? This is one of those formulas I love but have trouble explaining. Sticky…no wait its not! REALLY! Its a strange smooth almost silicone type of feel that makes it oh so comfortable for me to wear. The shimmer isn’t over the top at all & gives a nice hint of depth to this shade. You’ll see in my lip swatch that you can still visibly see my freckles so its not opaque & I honestly wouldn’t want it to be. I love her for who she is.

The light comes on by pushing the button on the top of the tube & is REALLY bright. I’ll be reviewing the blush & bronzer soon & those lights are killer! Anyways though, you can see here the lights off & then on. Shazam! I love the mirror on the side as well. I’m pretty sure I would have everything mirrored in my purse if I could. Weird, but true.

I like the wear & although I don’t see a change on my hand swatch, I definitely see it on my lips. Its warm, hotter while still being wearable for spring/summer. I wonder if its because my hand is so darn pale? Either way, here is the swatch on my hand where the top one was just swatched while the other has processed for 90 seconds or so. I had to snap this QUICK so I apologize if the quality is lower. Below that is my lip swatch 🙂

Where You Can Get it:
Pick these up at your local drugstores, megastores, & select specialty stores like Ulta, Shopko, Harmon’s, & more. You can also pick these up on the Physician’s Formula website. These retail for $9.95 but as always watch for steals & deals which are frequent with this wallet-friendly brand.

Now what do you think of this product? Would you give it a try? I really want to try it in Pink as well which is supposed to be more of a punch!

The Body Needs Eyeshadow Shots & Swatches + A Favor!

March 14, 2012 By StephanieLouise 8551 Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fbody-needs-eyeshadow-shots-swatches.htmlThe+Body+Needs+Eyeshadow+Shots+%26+Swatches+%2B+A++Favor%212012-03-14+16%3A16%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Fthe-body-needs-eyeshadow-shots-swatches-a-favor.html

You know I really love a company when I continue to buy eye pigments online to add to my collection that could feed a small army. Are they edible? Not quite sure, but I think you get the gist. Right now they have a CRAZY clearance, I picked up 22 eye pigments for less then $20, & that’s counting shipping! Wowie! Plus, they let you pick up a pigment/glitter with ever order for only a penny! I’ve never spent a penny better. They all come sealed REALLY well. I recommend using tweezers to remove the sticker over the sifter then storing them face side up so you don’t get too much of a mess.

The pigments never disappoint & I have been loving on them since the beginning of my blogging days when I reviewed both the Eye Candy Collection & the Blackened Collection. This totally reminds me I should reswatch those BTW, let me know if you’d be interested in better swatches now that I have some more experience. Then something amazing happened. I won a contest with my Pirate Want A Parrot look & won a gift certificate. Here’s what I got!

First, before you ask, yes the lighting here is awful today. I don’t know why, I saved this because its supposed to be like 80, but that’s how it goes in Nebraska apparently! Boo! But I did my best to make these color accurate & to catch the differences.

Left to right: Aspen Gold, Rapture, Blue Brown Sparkle, Belladonna, Sage Matte, & Tropic Heat.

I really do love all of these shades & wish I had gotten more mattes because that Sage Matte swatched incredibly easy & smooth. Tropic Heat swatches a bit sheer but its buildable. You’ll be seeing it again soon, it matches my top nail polish pick for Spring which will be in an upcoming post! Blue Brown Sparkle is a really warm brown with blue micro glitter. I love this & will be sure to do an eye look so you can see it catch in the light. Belladonna is a mysterious lady color. A purple with tinges of gray, brown, & deep plums. Lovely. Rapture is a green toned yellow & unlike anything else I have! Aspen Gold reminds me a lot of one of the new Milani eyeshadows. An olive topped with a gold sheen, really gorgeous & a staple favorite of mine.

Here is my penny pigment from this order! This is Rose Glitter, a gorgeous eye-safe glitter. See how super fine it is? I like to apply it by patting it onto a cream shadow or mixing it a bit by topping a gel liner with it to get it to stick.

So, as a side note, I entered a contest through The Body Needs thanking our military for their service. Most of you probably know we’re military but for those who don’t, my husband is in the Air Force. I would be SO appreciative if you would vote for our picture together by CLICKING RIGHT HERE! I would so totally appreciate it! The winner gets a gift certificate so I could buy more stuff to use & swatch! Yay swatching! The picture is from his ALS graduation which I swatched & reviewed the Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow for! That’s the ever so gorgeous Perpetual Purple 🙂 Man I love that shade!

I’ve never been sent anything from The Body Needs by the way, although I hope someday to be their spokesperson & bathe in pigments. That’s what spokespeople do? Right? Anyone?

Please let me know if you want to see any of these in particular on the eye! What shades do you like the most? Any dupes you spot?

Rave Review: Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick

March 13, 2012 By StephanieLouise 8564 Commentshttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Frave-review-reviva-labs-vitamin-e-stick.htmlRave+Review%3A+Reviva+Labs+Vitamin+E+Stick2012-03-13+18%3A26%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F03%2Frave-review-reviva-labs-vitamin-e-stick.html

I’ll admit, I didn’t expect this to make it into my tight-knit beauty raves. I mean, its cool, really it is. Somethign you can use pretty much anywhere that’s natural & good for your skin? Cool. But is it exciting? Meh. WRONG! I was SO wrong! If you want to know why, keep reading!

What Reviva Labs Says: Lip and under eye protection was never this convenient and effective! Reviva’s Vitamin E Stick–in its handy lipstick type tube–moisturizes, soothes and protects against dryness and sun or wind damage. Features SPF15 sun protection with vitamin E, allantoin.

My Take: So basically, this saved my face when I was sick. Like, no joke, SAVED my face. Here’s the lowdown! I had some kind of flu which developed into some kind of cold/cough/dying thing. Unpleasant to say the least. My eczema then began acting up like crazy around my eyes, probably from my eyes tearing up. Eczema always makes its rounds for me so it stinks, but its not uncommon every few months.
On top of that, a new issue. I guess this is kind of gross, but its something I would want to know about! So my nose got all dry & cracked from sneezing to the point where I was bleeding! OUCH! Then my Reviva Labs box arrived! I immediately started applying this Vitamin E Stick remembering back to winters in harsh wind where my mom & I would use something similar. It has a waxy feel, but its thin. I’m sure some people will mistake this as being greasy, but its not! My skin gets crazy oily when I’m sick & this didn’t break me out or add to oil production whatsoever.

Within 2 days, my nose was healed. Completely healed! No more cracks, no more dryness, & no more itchy skin! Granted, I applied this like a crazy person but it felt so good. I could FEEL it working! So then, within 3-4 days, my eczema cleared up! I was able to apply concealer comfortably over the product during the duration of me using it which was really important, normally my skin can’t get enough moisture for me to do that. I also applied it throughout the day lightly with my finger (as to not transfer makeup directly on the stick) & it looked fine. I have to say I’m not POSITIVE it cleared up my eczema, BUT it totally made that 110% more bearable than usual!

Overall, I’m crazy impressed. I don’t know how I lived without this product & I only wish I had a drawer full of them before winter had begun. I would’ve handled it so much better! It is pretty rare I label something a “RAVE” review, so this is a big deal. I love it & can’t wait to try it more ways like on really dry lips or maybe even scratches & such.

Where You Can Get It: At the time of this posting, these are on sale for only $4! You can pick them up by going to the Reviva Labs website.

So what do you think, would you like to try this product? How would you use it? PS how do you like my nails? I have a post coming soon, these are my St. Patrick’s Day manicure, well one of them. Kids loved them!
