Boooo-ty Blog Coalition: My Top 3 Glosses That Scream Halloween for 2012!

October 19, 2012 By StephanieLouise 675Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fboooo-ty-blog-coalition-my-top-3.htmlBoooo-ty+Blog+Coalition%3A+My+Top+3+Glosses+That+Scream+Halloween+for+2012%212012-10-19+13%3A56%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fboooo-ty-blog-coalition-my-top-3-glosses-that-scream-halloween-for-2012.html

Something I’ve noticed this Halloween is that there simply aren’t enough Halloween themed lipglosses. Sure, there are a few floating around the drugstore, but nothing that SCREAMS Halloween. So I found some for you & you can thank me anytime. I went with traditional Halloween shades & all 3 are available at the drugstore so if you love them, I was hoping you could run out & snap them up!

Left to right: Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Sizzle, Hard Candy Glossaholic Relaxing Lip Gloss in 373, & Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in Black Diva. The bottom is Wet n Wild Matte Lipstick in 908C.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Sizzle- This is one of the new shades to the Colorburst line & I totally love it. I wore it sheer a few days ago, but you can totally make it bright orange as well. Either way, it feels great, not like a sticky Halloween gimmick lipstick. This does has kind of a plastic-y smell, but it goes away pretty fast after application. This looks shiny but not sticky which is one of the reasons I love these glosses in general.

Hard Candy Glossaholic Relaxing Lip Gloss in 373- This is a nail polish lovers lipgloss, hello…it is full of flakies! This is pretty much the lipgloss version of one of my favorite polishes, Asylum from Finger Paints. This is a clear base PACKED with orange flakies & blurple flakies. & although it is pretty on it’s own, it really looks best over another shade. I swatches it over Wet n Wild Matte Lipstick in 908C. Something to keep in mind is this has a very strong vanilla scent but it smells more like cupcakes to me! Love! The brush, however, is HUGE. Take a look at the photo below to see how giant it is. I think that would bother me if it was a regular gloss but because I just dot this on it doesn’t make me too upset.

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in Black Diva- Is this gloss a bit sheer? Yes. Do I honestly think it will last 6 hours like it claims? No I don’t. BUT this is a great black drugstore gloss! This too has a bit of a plastic scent but it wears off. I like this because it goes on like a lacquer. If you are planning to sport a black lipstick this Halloween, I think this would be a perfect topper!

Photobucket

Here are the brush/wands so you can see all 3. The Hard Candy Glossaholic one is huge right? The Revlon & Rimmel wands are actually pretty similar. They are both doe foots but they flatten on the sides. I actually quite like this shape, kind of like a soft spatula. It gives me decent control of application.
So those are my 3 drugstore Halloween lipglosses! Want to do you think? Do you have any suggestions? Remember to check out the posts from other members of the Beauty Blog Coalition below for our Booo-ty Blog Coalition Link Up!

NEW: L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Primped & Precious, Blinged & Brilliant, & Gold Imperial Swatches + Review

October 19, 2012 By StephanieLouise 676Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fnew-loreal-infallible-eyeshadows-in.htmlNEW%3A+L%27Oreal+Infallible+Eyeshadows+in+Primped+%26+Precious%2C+Blinged+%26+Brilliant%2C+%26+Gold+Imperial+Swatches+%2B+Review2012-10-19+11%3A27%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fnew-loreal-infallible-eyeshadows-in-primped-precious-blinged-brilliant-gold-imperial-swatches-review.html

Photobucket

So I happened upon a new display & at the front were 3 L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Primped & Precious, Blinged & Brilliant, & Gold Imperial. I wasn’t able to snag Gold Imperial when it first came out but you better believe I snapped it up this time! These 3 shades aren’t necessarily ‘holiday” shades (they were on a holiday looking display in CVS) but the gold/silver shades definitely are.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Primped & Precious: A gunmetal silver with silver shimmers. This isn’t a TRUE silver, but it is lovely & unlike any of my other shades.

Photobucket

Gold Imperial: A true gold with gold shimmer. I don’t have many true golds, most lean yellow or grungy or pale. This is a welcomed edition, especially for the holidays!

Photobucket

Blinged & Brilliant: A peach toned rose gold. If you use just a little bit, this makes a really pretty highlight.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Left to right: Primped & Precious, Blinged & Brilliant, & Gold Imperial.

So you can definitely see how shimmery/metallic these are right? The first photo is the most color accurate, 2nd is catching the light, & 3rd is a bit blurred to show you the dimensions of the shades. Pretty right? Each swipe is just a touch into the shadow, no primer.

If you have missed my other L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow reviews, I tend to prefer the shimmery versions. They are vibrant, ultra-pigmented, & they can also be foiled. I have some of the matte shades & although I don’t dislike them I also don’t find them as easy for me to work with. These 3 shades are clearly NOT for the matte at heart! They are pretty much all 3 metallic wonders. If you don’t usually do shimmery, consider them as a holiday touch, use the gold as a liner or the silver as an inner corner highlight for a smoky eye.

Photobucket

Check out my last review of the some of my favorite limited edition shades which shows you the packaging (it is different right?) & how lovely those shades are. Also, jump into some of the eye looks I’ve created using them, like this purple smoky eye I created for my husband’s graduation ceremony!

BlogHer: Diary of a Submissive (Adults Only!)

October 18, 2012 By StephanieLouise 677Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fblogher-diary-of-submissive-adults-only.htmlBlogHer%3A+Diary+of+a+Submissive+%28Adults+Only%21%292012-10-18+21%3A52%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fblogher-diary-of-a-submissive-adults-only.html

Pre-reading disclaimer: This post is about an erotic (although VERY well-written novel!) tale & is meant to be read by adults. That is all. If you wanted to read about beauty, simply look at many of my other posts! 🙂

Photobucket

So when I say this is an erotic novel, PLEASE do not think of it as a certain series of books that are often referred to as “Twilight with porn”. This is not like those. Are romance novels bad?  Nope. But this is more erotic than pornographic…& by that I mean written by someone who actually writes about other topics. I feel like I’m not explaining this well but you’ll have to bare with me.

The extent of my knowledge of dominant & submissive sexual culture pretty much starts & ends with Laurel K. Hamilton. Many of her characters (most being shifters or vampires or…well you get the point!) are subs or doms & although she touches on certain topics throughout her many books I’ve never delved deeper into the culture. I was surprisingly interested in reading about it!

I felt like the author Sophie (who writes about herself) really lets you see this world through her eyes. From her first experiences to her funny tales, she writes in a way that makes you feel comfortable reading. She does not dive straight into pony play or furries (what you guys don’t watch Comedy Central?) so don’t worry. I loved reading about he actually learning about the submissive & dominant culture, especially the weird messages she got. Writing a blog opens you up to strange messages frequently so I think I definitely could relate!

If you are interested in reading a well-written erotic story, learning more about a submissive sexual story, or even just looking for something out of your reading norm I think this is a good choice. It is pretty impossible not to fall for Sophie & I can guaruntee it is worth finding out what happens to her!

Boooo-ty Blog Coalition Link Up: Fall Festival Coastal Scents Palette Pumpkin Spiced Eyeshadow Tutorial

October 12, 2012 By StephanieLouise 681Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fboooo-ty-blog-coalition-link-up-fall.htmlBoooo-ty+Blog+Coalition+Link+Up%3A+Fall+Festival+Coastal+Scents+Palette+Pumpkin+Spiced+Eyeshadow+Tutorial2012-10-12+17%3A56%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fboooo-ty-blog-coalition-link-up-fall-festival-coastal-scents-palette-pumpkin-spiced-eyeshadow-tutorial.html

Photobucket

Normally I do a review before I do an eyeshadow look, but I couldn’t help it! I might still be testing these shades, but I adore this look! Ready to jump into the Halloween/Fall season? This is an easy look to achieve & definitely a bit fun while still being wearable. I’ll have some costume type tutorials coming up…less wearable!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

Just a note, I actually ended up going with something more berry-toned on my lips after wearing this for a bit. I thought it was TOO pink (ha!) but I liked it a lot. It was orange without being too orange & had a nice shimmer to it. With the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden under it, it lasted perfectly as well. I’ve never had issues with the Coastal Scents Hot Pots.

Photobucket

So here are all the products I used, from face to eyes to lips. I explain all the eye type stuff in the video, but if you don’t recognize any of the products here I’ll list them!

Photobucket
Photobucket

I think this look is pretty easy, it didn’t take long. I love this orange, it is not a bronze or pale or neon orange, just a shimmery orange! This palette has hot pots which basically means you can pop them out. It is cheaper to buy the palette as a whole from Coastal Scents but if you don’t see yourself using these shades, just create your own with shades you will use. I find this system to be a lot safer on my wallet than the Urban Decay version! Ouch!

Photobucket
Photobucket

In the end, I think this look is fun, definitely made for Fall, & perfect for someone who isn’t looking to go too wild. I’ll be using this palette for some more upcoming looks. If you own it, what are some of your favorite color combinations? From photos, are there any you want to see?

Lips: My Kate Moss Lipsticks in 15, 14, 09, 08, 06, & 04 Swatches + Review

So right out of the gate let me tell you I adore these lipsticks. I really want to own them all, but my CVS basically refuses to restock the ones I don’t have. I want #12 like no one’s business but they have one damaged, mangled one left. BOO! But overall, this is definitely one of my favorite lines from the drugstore, especially for around $5. This post is more than a promotion, it is to help spread the word about an organization called “Look Good Feel Better” also known as LGFB. Find out more by visiting www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org
OUR MISSION: Look Good Feel Better is dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life of people undergoing treatment for cancer. It is our aim to improve their self-image and appearance through complimentary group, individual, and self-help beauty sessions that create a sense of support, confidence, courage, and community.
I hope that when you’re being bombarded with specials this month to benefit wonderful causes, you’ll take a moment to honor this group. They work with women undergoing something heartbreaking to make the day to day more bearable. The brands I will be posting about work hard to make these women feel better from the inside out…because doesn’t everyone want to feel & look great no matter what the circumstances?
I chose to feature this set from Philosophy first because I thought it had a beautiful message. I don’t know if you guys can see it, but on the box it says “philosophy: no matter how rough the road, may it be a graceful journey”. I love that. I also think the positive cards were a nice addition & everything looks classy & clean.
On September 1st, Philosophy launched ‘Graceful Journey,’ an inspirational gift set featuring pure grace shampoo, bath & shower gel, along with seven cards offering words of encouragement to help guide people through life’s difficult journeys. From now until September 1, 2013, 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of each graceful journey set will benefit Look Good Feel Better.

Face: Badger Damascus Rose SPF 16 Face Sunscreen Lotion Review

October 10, 2012 By StephanieLouise 684Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fface-badger-damascus-rose-spf-16-face.htmlFace%3A+Badger+Damascus+Rose+SPF+16+Face+Sunscreen+Lotion+Review2012-10-10+16%3A34%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fface-badger-damascus-rose-spf-16-face-sunscreen-lotion-review.html

Photobucket

When it comes to sunscreen, I prefer a heavy dose of SPF. I’m fair & freckled but I honestly think everyone should be as SPF obsessive as me. However, when I’m sitting around the house or having a low to no makeup day, I try not to waste SPF on nothing. When Badger’s Damascus Rose SPF 16 Face Sunscreen Lotion came into my life, I was wary. Would I like the scent? Is 16 enough SPF for daily use? & would my picky skin accept or reject this as a moisturizer?

Photobucket
From Badger:

Contains Organic Ingredients

  • Broad Spectrum protection from UVA & UVB rays.
  • Light, nearly invisible lotion base rich in Certified Organic ingredients.
  • Ideal for everyday use, even under makeup.
Protect & Restore Badger’s new SPF 16 Damascus Rose Face Sunscreen uses the safe, effective mineral Zinc Oxide in a base of antioxidant- and nutrient-rich extracts to protect and restore delicate facial skin. This is a light, restorative, and nearly invisible sunscreen for the face that protects from both UVA and UVB rays while nourishing and soothing the skin. And like all of Badger’s sunscreens it contains only the purest, most natural ingredients.

Directions for use: Use daily on the face and neck to moisturize and protect. Can be used alone or under makeup. Ideal for dry and delicate skin.
Let’s start with scent: I love it. I was nervous. Sometimes scented lotions are just weird on the face. This one smells beautiful, natural, & feminine. It isn’t a light scent either, you can definitely smell it. I hate the “sunscreen scent” so this was perfect for me! It really is a mix of the rose, lavender, & chamomile not just one or 2. You can definitely smell them all!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I was a bit worried to use this when I was outdoors because its been so humid & gross here. I stuck to using it mostly indoors with some light outdoor work like running errands or throwing toys with the dogs. I didn’t accumulate any additional sun damage & it felt nice on the skin. I applied it down my neck as well. It says to reapply every 2 hours if you’re swimming or sweating so I figured it was safe. It was!

My skin loved it! Maybe its all the treatments I’ve been trying lately or the very non-natural ingredients I’ve been putting on it. It’s actually quite soothing & feels a bit thick in your hands. But then you realize you don’t need a lot & it thins out to the perfect layer.

Photobucket

I don’t use it every day but I very well could. It smells divine, provides the right amount of moisture for normal skin without over doing my oily combo skin. I haven’t had any reactions to this, probably because of how natural it is. My biggest plus is how I feel when I apply it: I honestly think is has a calming, romantic effect to it! Plus, I will always like a glass bottle with a pump, such a step above other methods.

Do you love rose scented products? This was recently featured in my monthly favorites along with the Reviva Labs Rose Facial Spray…guess I’ve been on a rose kick! What kinds of florals wow you?

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Medicated Tangerine Review

October 9, 2012 By StephanieLouise 685Leave a Commenthttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Feos-smooth-sphere-lip-balm-in-medicated.htmlEOS+Smooth+Sphere+Lip+Balm+in+Medicated+Tangerine+Review2012-10-09+16%3A33%3A00StephanieLouisehttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.allthingsbeautifulxo.com%2F2012%2F10%2Feos-smooth-sphere-lip-balm-in-medicated-tangerine-review.html

Photobucket

If you are a frequent reader then you have probably seen the EOS lip balms before. I recently covered the EOS Alice in Wonderland Disney Collaboration & absolutely love them. They are still available so I urge you to check them out! Today I’m going to be talking about the Medicated Tangerine version…which is near impossible to find in my area!
What EOS says on their website:
This daily-use lip balm provides medicated relief and helps prevent bacterial contamination on your lips.

  • Immediately soothes and restores moisture with anti-bacterial protection
  • 95% natural
  • Vitamins, zinc and shea butter
  • Smoothes on clear
  • New smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips
  • Twist-off top
  • Petrolatum and paraben-free
  • Gluten-free
  • Phthalate-free

Packed with antioxidants, zinc, Vitamins C & E and shea butter, shea butter and jojoba oil, eos Medicated Tangerine Lip Balm pampers your smile – and protects it, too.

Photobucket

I wasn’t expecting to lip this balm nearly as much as I actually did. When I think of medicated balms, I immediately think of being sick. When your lips start to crack & get peely, you need a bit more oomph. I am not a bit orange/tangerine fan but like the lemon variety, I quite lip this one. Rather than making me taste like medication (ew!) this always has a light tangerine scent/taste but it isn;t so overwhelming that it would make me nauseous if I was ill. This variety also seems a bit thicker than the others I have which I appreciate. I have a feeling I’ll be using this a lot in the season of coughing fits & runny noses!

Have you tried the EOS Medicated Tangerine balm? Which EOS balm is YOUR favorite?

**A sample of this balm was graciously provided for unbiased consideration.
