To follow up my prior favorite post…we now come to face products. I really only chose my best of the best- the products I reached for time & time again. I’m currently across the US in California for IMATS LA 2015 & to visit my family- & a solid chunk of these are sitting in my travel bags right now because they’re just above & beyond fantastic! My Favorite Lipstick for Over 5 Years & Other Favorites
Today I wanted to take a break from holiday posts just for a moment to bring in a post I’ve had waiting in the wings since before I even cut my hair. I took these photos when I realized I was using some of my favorite products in my collection & realized this would probably be helpful to share. My collection is pretty vast so the go-to items are really important to me. & some have been around for ages. I just love favorites don’t you?
PR Sample. I bought it. Affiliate links.Have you ever picked up a lipstick & thought “I could wear this with everything…”? It is rare for me. I really do switch out lip colors seasonally & quite often so it is a pretty big deal. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile now then you likely know I grew up raiding my mother’s Lancome stash. It was a pretty big deal. Although I know for a fact I’ve been using this lipstick for 5 years at a minimum…it is likely more like 10. I think it was 3-5 years ago that my mom & I randomly started a conversation talking about our favorite purse lipstick…& it was the same one. The one I’m wearing above is Lancome Color Design Lipstick in Love It! which is probably the best thing ever. I mean- that name? Was it not meant to be a favorite? This is the perfect, creamy pink & you’ll find it in my purse at all times. [Read more…]
Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Tin Palette for Holiday 2014 Swatches & Review
Benefit is known for a lot of things but the first that pops into my mind are blushes. Their boxed blushes are both iconic & super cute- like a small girly accessory. I steered clear of the boxed blushes for a long time until my husband bought me Benefit’s Rockateur & I totally fell in love. I recently picked up two more blushes that I will review soon but that won’t be half as exciting as this palette. If you love cute packaging & want more bang for your buck then Benefit’s Cheeky Sweet Spot Palette which has been released for Holiday 2014 is definitely a must have. With 5 permanent blushes, a bronzer, a cream highlighter, a brush, & an adorable tin…well it is a steal. [Read more…]
Makeup Geek Pigment in Blitz Eyeshadow Look- Blue Eyes Need It!
I have picked up quite the Makeup Geek collection as of late- only pigments & eyeshadows but still. I’ve been using them a lot in real life but then realized I haven’t been posting them on the blog- shame on me! I wanted to show you one of my newer Makeup Geek pigments in Blitz which I wore to see Maleficent- keep reading to check it out!
If you have blue eyes like me then I hope you know all about the wonders of copper shades. I pressed this onto my lid with a gripping base so it was really pigmented. The only other shade I used was to buff out the edges & highlight- Makeup Geek single eyeshadow in Vanilla Bean.
This shade is a red/brown based copper with shimmer that is metallic when used foiled. I’m really loving it. Loose pigments aren’t always my favorite thing but these are so crazy pigmented that I think I make less of a mess. These containers do come super full so it is messy at least the first few times- totally worth it for the extra product though!
The lipstick I’m wearing here is MAC True Love’s Kiss from the Maleficent Collection which I reviewed here. On my cheeks is Benefit Rockateur which I have really been loving this lately! I wanted to keep everything besides my eyes & lips simple which is why I didn’t add a whole lot of extra colors to me eyes.
What are your Makeup Geek must haves? What colors make your eye color really pop?
My Fantastical Makeup to Attend Wicked at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha
First let me take a moment to absolutely freak about the awesomeness of the Wicked production. I’m a nerd indeed but it was fantastic. I knew I wanted to wear the glitter I got in my Glamour Doll Eyes Insider package which I unboxed here. I absolutely couldn’t believe how spectacularly perfect this green, gold, & holo mix would be! I added in some other Glamour Doll Eyes shades as well- keep reading to check it out!
I took some photos of the theater & to not completely make this post entirely too long I am putting a post of the gorgeous theater & my thoughts (& Ryan’s!) on the show! It isn’t sponsored & they have no idea who we are- we bought the tickets ourselves. I’ll be putting those photos up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday on Home in High Heels.
So I apologize for zero full face shots of this look without my cell phone. I won’t even lie- was totally running late! I snapped these in the car & while they aren’t perfect I think you can get the general idea!
I figured I’d throw this photo of my hair in too- this was like 5ish hours later & I had pulled some of my pins out before thinking to snap this. Sorry! I used a jumbo bun shaper & my hair is so long & thick that it almost creates like a double bun which I love. If you guys want a video tutorial on this just let me know.
On my eyes I used Glamour Doll Eyes eyeshadows & glitter. First I started with a black cream base which I smudged out to make sure my colors looked more smoky. I applied Hitchhiker on my eyelid & Morocco on my outter. I like the contrast of the brown with black eyeliner- I didn’t want it to be super dark just smoky. I applied Flawless as my highlight & to blend out any harsh lines.
I used a glitter glue on the inner part of my eye & applied the new Glitter Tube from Glamour Doll Eyes in Waiting for Disaster which might the the most fantastical thing EVER. I didn’t want to go full on green & black so I really liked the way these shades blended together in the end. I added some winged linger & mascara- boom done!
On my cheeks I have Rockateur Blush from Benefit which is a shade I seem to reach for more & more. It is kind of a blush/highlight so it is great when I’m running low on time too. On my lips I am wearing Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Nude Cream. This shade is so comfortable & with a watermelon scent- also a joy to reapply when needed.
So that’s it! I hope you guys enjoyed seeing my look! Don’t forget to check out more photos of the beautiful theater on my lifestyle blog tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday here- Home in High Heels.

My Christmas + Glamour Doll Eye Look with 5 Candles, Flawless, & Downtown!
I’m a Glamour Doll Insider. Affiliate links.
Hey guys! I loved taking a short break for the holidays, it was fabulously needed! I thought I’d show you the eye look that I wore today using Glamour Doll Eyes pigments & share a bit about our holiday!
It was a busy holiday for us but also a heck of a lot less busy than usual! This year we stayed here on base in Nebraska instead of traveling to see family. It was definitely less stressful! We definitely spoiled each other (say hello to Ryan’s new Xbox…) which was also nice! Some of the beauty related items he got me are the Cargo Paris Palette, Marc Jacobs Honey Perfume, & my first ever boxed blush from Benefit in Rockateur which I just hadn’t been able to justify on my own. Definitely items I wanted! Let me know if you want to see reviews on any of those!
For Christmas we had two single military guys over who couldn’t go home to their famalies. Basically they heeded to be fed! I made Jack Daniels Honey chicken, sweet beans, spicy beans, corn, & jalapeno cornbread. Yum! Everything was nearly demolished. Our trees (yes, there were two!) might be fake but they were gorgeous & I’ll be sad to take them down. I love having our house looking so glittery & colorful…shocker right? Ryan was able to have a few week days off so we got a lot of shopping done including some Peppermint Brownies from Trader Joe’s which are SO good!
Right now I’m working on my end of year favorites- you can see my 2012 videos here! This year I think I’ll add some posts as well since the videos can be irritating to link repeatedly & shorten & such. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them! For my eye look today I have Flawless as a base, 5 Candles in the crease a bit, & Downtown mixed with GDE Foil Me as a liner. You can view Glamour Doll Eyes products here!
I hope everyone had very happy holidays (whatever you celebrate!) & safe as well! I’d love to hear your Christmas list haul or what you’re looking forward to in 2014! What were some of your cosmetic favorites this year?
