This is the story of my rash decision, inability to control myself in Sephora, & intense love for lip products. So I received one Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick as a sample ages ago. I set it aside. I promptly lost track of it because you guys know…I prefer reviewing 5+ lip products for you guys to go over formula, shade selection, & I’m super wordy just in general. But then, in the back of a drawer, I found it. & I swatched it. & I wore it once. & I fell in absolute love. This was months ago. & then I decided to do something crazy.
I walked into Sephora & bought 12 MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick shades. So with the one I already owned (which I actually bought as well then gifted to my mom for photos because I’m extra) I have 13 lipsticks to show you. I tried to get a balanced amount- some I thought I’d wear a lot. Some brights. A few fun shades. So basically, I have quite the variety. & I’m also sort of dangerous to be in Sephora by myself unattended. I’m ok with that though? Ryan wasn’t thrilled but I bribed him with cookies & he has since forgotten the incident.
First- here’s the shade that started it all. It is Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in M202 – Candy Pink. There are two sub-lines within the Artist Rouge line: Matte Finish & Satin Finish. I fell in love with this hot pink. She’s gorgeous. & I’ll give you all the details below!
Packaging is pretty basic! I love the feel of these metal tubes because they’re weighty & sturdy. The products themselves aren’t too firm or soft so I haven’t had any issues with breakage etc. I think that’s why I prefer slimmer package designs these days, the texture of lipsticks often leads to breakage or smooshing. Not these. You’ll notice the bottom has a C or M depending on which side of the finish range it falls on. The pointed tip is great for more exact application- which is pretty important with such pigmented shades.
Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick Matte Finish Lipstick Shades
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Matte in M301 Poppy Orange: a red-toned brightened fuschia with a matte finish. This one stains my lips a tad, but I actually love that! It is pretty long-wearing & the texture is velvety. This is a pretty unique shade to my collection with the red tone.
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Matte in M300 Red Orange: a pigmented warm orange with a matte finish. I usually don’t go with terracotta tones like this so it is a fun change I think I’ll reach for in warmer months.
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Matte in M204 Raspberry Pink: a raspberry-toned muted pinky red with a matte finish. This shade is so comfortable to wear & goes with pretty much everything. I really love this hue.
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Matte in M202 Candy Pink: a neon hot pink with fuschia tones with a matte finish. I recommend layering this a bit & blotting in between because once you do, it wear beautifully well for a long time! I haven’t fallen for a hot pink in ages but this one started it all.
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Matte in M102 Pink Brown: a rich, warmer berry with a matte finish. This one I wore a lot recently in the colder months. It is a nice twist on my usual neutrals.

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Finish Lipstick Shades
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C211 Rose Wood: a warm-leaning rose neutral with a satin finish. Definitely one of my most worn shades! I think this might be my favorite shade of this entire collection.
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C105 Greige Beige: a soft rosy beige neutral with a satin finish. Another shade I chose because it is out of the norm for me & definitely one I’m still trying to figure out on my skintone!
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C600 White: a white lipstick with a satin finish. I love that it leans cool, but it definitely isn’t opaque. I picked this one up for highlighting & mixing mostly!
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C502 Taupe Violet: a muted grey-toned lavender with a satin finish. Obsessed. It isn’t warm which is really what makes it a favorite for me as well! Unique to my collection & the formula is great!
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C407 Black Red: a deepened red burgandy with a satin finish. Sadly…I wanted this to be more vampy on the lips than it actually was. I’ll still wear it but I’m still looking for something more vampy & blackened!
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C306 Pink Coral: a bright, warm-leaning coral pink with a satin finish. I foresee myself wearing this A LOT in the summer & spring! Isn’t it beautiful? I got a lot of oranges to fill gaps in my collection but I love how pink this coral is! Plus it is reeeeally comfortable
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C303 Orange Coral: a brightened, warm creamsicle coral-toned orange/peach with with a satin finish. A summertime bright creamsicle is how I describe this in my head- another unique find!
MUFE Artist Rouge Lipstick Satin Creme in C302 Beige Coral: a muted, bright coral-toned pink with a bit of warmth in a more glossy finish. I never thought about wearing a neutral like this…but for some reason this spoke to me in person! & does not disappoint!

So after all that work & swatches & describing & wear testing- I think it is safe to say I love this line. I know everyone (including me!) is on the liquid lipstick train…but this line made me fall in love with traditional lipstick bullets all over again. The formula is comfortable. The wear is lovely. & the touch up so much easier!
